Zoe watched as debris from ValueMart floated along, a surreal, fragmented procession.
Empty cars drifted beside countless shopping carts, pieces of asphalt, and flickering lights, all mingling with shimmering water orbs that defied gravity.
The remnants of shattered bridges, made of ethereal light, flickered into view then out again, as though Nytheria itself was trying to establish a foothold in their world, grasping at the reality of Warren and refusing to let go.
With Snacks perched on her shoulder, Zoe browsed the Loom interface, absently upgrading some of her common spells.
She remembered how Arcane Bolt had barely tickled that "overgrown garden hose" during her brief battle with the serpent-like shard monster.
She was level 24, and she realized she'd hardly invested anything into upgrades. 'Maybe it was time to get serious about that.'
Then another thought hit her. She remembered the Loom's earlier attempt at blackmailing her.
Hey everyone! Thanks for sticking around for Chapter 35! This one was so much fun to write—balancing the eerie shard atmosphere with Zoe's playful antics always makes for a great ride. I loved getting Snacks involved in a more hands-on way (or should I say "paw-on"?), and adding some more depth to his character development was long overdue.
Plus, seeing Zoe swing Roderick around like a chaotic caboose definitely brought a grin to my face. I'm curious to know how you all feel about this more hands-on approach with the shard environment—do you think Zoe and the gang are ready for what Nytheria is throwing at them?
Let me know your thoughts and any predictions for what's coming next! Thanks for reading, and as always, your support means the world to me!
Stay snarky
I figured out what was going on & I am creeping ahead. Thanks!
