The battlefield was quiet, save for the occasional breeze that rustled through the trees. The tension was thick as Team Minato's elaborate plan neared its climax. Kakashi stood at the center, kunai in hand, his eyes locked on the masked figure of Tobi—Obito in disguise.
What Kakashi didn't know was that the "hostage situation" was nothing more than a ruse orchestrated by his own team, with Minato and Rin playing along. Shadow clones of them were tied up nearby, struggling in their bindings as part of the act.
"You!? Let them go!" Kakashi's voice rang with urgency as he glared at the masked man who held his teammates "captive."
Tobi—Obito—kept his voice low and sinister, though a grin tugged at the corners of his mouth behind the mask. "I will... but first, you have to remove your mask."
Kakashi narrowed his eyes in suspicion. Removing his mask was a demand he'd heard before, but this time, the stakes seemed higher. Minato-sensei and Rin were in danger—or so he thought.
Hidden in the nearby brush, Minato's former teammates from Team Jiraiya—Jiraiya himself included—had set up a number of undetectable cameras using advanced concealment jutsu. Not a single detail would be missed, and Kakashi had no clue that the entire scene was being recorded from multiple angles.
Obito, still in character as Tobi, spoke again. "What's it going to be, Kakashi? Your mask, or their lives?"
There was a long pause as Kakashi mulled over his choices.
Finally, with a resigned sigh, he reached up to the edge of his mask.
Rin, playing her part perfectly as a "hostage," gave a tiny, dramatic gasp as she watched him. "Kakashi, no…"
The mask slid down slowly, and just as the last bit of fabric revealed his face—click, click, click—multiple hidden cameras captured the moment from every possible angle. Kakashi's face, which had been a mystery for so long, was now on record. He had no idea.
Obito couldn't hold it in anymore. He threw his head back and let out a loud laugh as the shadow clones of Rin and Minato poofed away into smoke, revealing the true pair standing behind Kakashi, grinning like children caught in a prank.
"Finally!" Obito yelled, ripping off his Tobi mask, his laughter echoing across the battlefield. "And damn, Kakashi—you look handsome!"
Kakashi's eyes widened in confusion. "W-What? Obito?!"
Rin clapped her hands and jumped up and down. "Mission accomplished!"
Minato gave Kakashi a thumbs-up, his ever-serene face betraying a hint of pride in the plan. "It was the only way, Kakashi. You can't keep us in the dark forever."
From a nearby tree, Jiraiya popped out with a camera in hand, grinning ear to ear. "We finally got him!"
Kakashi blinked, utterly bewildered, still not fully processing what had just happened. "You guys... planned this?"
"Yup," Rin said with a laugh. "And it was worth every second."
Obito clapped a hand on Kakashi's shoulder, a grin spread wide across his face. "Now we can move on from the mystery of your mask, huh?"
Kakashi just sighed and adjusted his mask back up, realizing there was no escaping the teasing that would inevitably follow. "You guys really have too much free time…"
Minato crossed his arms, a proud smile on his face as he looked at the bewildered Kakashi. "Why?" he began, catching everyone's attention, "It's because of my reforms."
Kakashi blinked, still processing both the prank and the sudden shift in conversation. "Reforms?"
Minato nodded. "Yeah, since I became Hokage, I've been working on reducing the workload—delegating more efficiently. So, basically, the paperwork and the administrative headaches that usually come with being the Hokage? Reduced. The General Staff Offices in the newly created departments now take care of those tasks."
Obito, still chuckling, raised an eyebrow. "You're telling me, this whole elaborate prank to reveal Kakashi's face... happened because you have more free time now?"
Minato shrugged, a playful grin on his face. "Let's just say, I can focus on more important missions now. Like this one."
Rin giggled. "Leave it to Minato-sensei to revolutionize the Hokage's office just to pull a prank on Kakashi."
Kakashi rubbed the back of his head, still not sure whether to feel relieved or embarrassed. "So… while I've been training, patrolling, and handling missions, you've all been planning this because Minato-sensei finally found time for pranks?"
Minato placed a hand on Kakashi's shoulder. "Kakashi, there's more to being a ninja than just work, you know. Sometimes, you've got to let loose and have some fun."
Kakashi sighed. "I guess… as long as I don't see my face on the front page of Konoha Times tomorrow."
Jiraiya laughed, slapping his knee. "Oh, don't worry, kid. Those photos are for personal enjoyment only!"
