After temporarily lending the Profound Yin Poison Demon Thunder to Xiao Yixian, two days passed quietly.
During these two days, with the mysterious beast corpse stored away by Mo Yu, the pure energy that had filled the valley vanished like water from a dried-up source.
Taking advantage of the remaining energy, Mo Yu fully consolidated his strength as a three-star Dou Shi and decided it was time to leave.
His gaze swept across the valley and fell upon the small hut, where the warm glow of lamplight illuminated the surroundings. Outside the hut, a graceful figure dressed in plain white robes sat quietly on a small chair, leaning against the door frame. Under the flickering light, she was immersed in a multicolored scroll in her hands.
As if sensing the approaching footsteps, Xiao Yixian lifted her gaze from the scroll. Under the moonlight, she saw the young man slowly making his way toward her and smiled gently. "Finished with your cultivation? There's still some hot food inside."
Her soft words, filled with care and affection, carried a warmth like that of a wife welcoming her husband home after a long absence.
Mo Yu's expression softened further. As he approached, his gaze fell on Xiao Yixian's delicate face. Reaching out, he gently wiped away an almost imperceptible trace of black powder near the corner of her lips.
Seeing his gesture, Xiao Yixian's face reddened slightly. She quickly took out a white silk handkerchief from her sleeve and carefully wiped the black powder from Mo Yu's fingers.
"It's fine. This bit of poison won't harm me," Mo Yu said with a soft chuckle, letting her clean his hand.
"Being cautious doesn't hurt," Xiao Yixian replied with concern.
"I'll probably have to leave tomorrow," Mo Yu said suddenly, watching her as she continued wiping away the powder.
Her slender hands froze briefly, but she soon resumed her actions and gave a small nod. "You've stayed here long enough. With the strange energy in the valley fading, it makes sense to move on."
"Where will you go after leaving here?" Mo Yu asked, breaking the brief silence with a smile.
"To the Chu Yun Empire. I think it's more suitable for me—and for the Profound Yin Poison Demon Thunder," Xiao Yixian replied with a smile.
"The Chu Yun Empire, huh..." Mo Yu murmured, thinking. In the original story, Xiao Yixian unified the empire's forces and established the Poison Sect, becoming its ruler. With the added power of the Profound Yin Poison Demon Thunder, her achievements would undoubtedly be even greater in this lifetime.
He nodded lightly and smiled. "Then I'll be waiting to hear of your fame across the Chu Yun Empire. With your abilities, that day will surely come soon."
Xiao Yixian gave a gentle smile, though a part of her secretly wished she could remain in this quiet valley with Mo Yu forever.
After a brief pause, she suddenly stood and entered the small hut. When she returned moments later, she held a small cloth pouch in her hands, offering it to Mo Yu.
"There's a third-tier magic core inside. I found it by chance in a cave in the Magical Beast Mountain Range. I don't have anything else to give you as a farewell gift, but this might be of use."
Mo Yu opened the pouch and saw a silver-white magic core—specifically, the core of a third-tier Lightning Shadow Leopard.
Although the core was of limited use to him now that he had broken through to three-star Dou Shi, Mo Yu still smiled, accepting her heartfelt gift.
"Thank you," he said, feeling slightly awkward about the parting atmosphere. Looking up at the starry sky, he fell into silence.
The quiet mood soon infected Xiao Yixian as well. She hugged her knees and gazed at the stars above, her bright eyes blinking in sync with the celestial lights.
Under the moonlight, the two sat quietly, a man and a woman lost in their thoughts, watching the night sky until sleep eventually overtook them. Leaning against the door frame, they drifted off together.
The next morning, when Mo Yu stepped out of the small hut, he noticed a blue eagle circling above the valley, its sharp cries piercing the sky.
"You're awake?" A crisp voice came from his left.
Turning, Mo Yu saw Xiao Yixian carrying a basket filled with herbs, her smile bright as she approached.
Mo Yu chuckled and reached into his robe, pulling out a spatial ring. He took two steps forward, gently grabbed Xiao Yixian's hand, and slipped the ring onto her finger. "Consider this a parting gift. If I find a beast ring in the future, I'll give it to you, so Xiao Lan can always stay by your side."
Xiao Yixian smiled faintly, her fingers playing with the ring. Though she knew such items were rare and expensive, she didn't refuse, given the bond they shared.
She carefully placed the herbs from her basket into the ring, followed by the Seven-Colored Poison Manual and other items. Looking up, she smiled warmly at Mo Yu. "I'll wait for your promise to come true. Don't forget, okay?"
"I won't," Mo Yu said with a playful grin. "I'm a professional weapon refiner—I never deceive young ladies."
After a moment of thought, he added, "When I see my master, I'll ask him how to control the Woeful Poison Body. Don't worry—he's incredibly skilled, so he'll definitely have a solution."
Although Mo Yu already knew from the original story how to suppress the Woeful Poison Body, it wasn't the right time to mention it. For now, he kept it as a secret.
Hearing his words, Xiao Yixian's eyes widened briefly. She stared at Mo Yu's confident smile, as if imprinting his face into her memory.
Then, suddenly, she stepped forward and hugged him tightly. In a barely audible voice, she whispered, "Mo Yu, thank you for everything you've done for me. I'll always remember you—forever."
The embrace was fleeting, leaving behind the faint scent of herbs and warmth. Xiao Yixian quickly composed herself, as if nothing had happened, and placed a bamboo whistle in her mouth. With a soft blow, a delicate sound rose into the sky.
Hearing the whistle, the blue eagle circled down, its wings stirring up a powerful gust of wind as it landed.
"Let's go. This will probably be the last time we ride together," Xiao Yixian said, smiling as she leaned softly against Mo Yu.
Mo Yu smiled and nodded. As her earlier words echoed in his mind, he wrapped an arm around her slender waist, kicked off the ground, and the two of them soared into the sky, landing gracefully on the blue eagle's back...
