Kapitel 64: CH64

Helag took his bow and arrows and ventured into the forest. It didn't take long for him to spot a wild rabbit.

He drew his bow, aimed, and in the next second, the rabbit's head was pierced by an arrow.

He no longer needed Deep Blue's assistance to easily hit such small animals.

Helag carried the rabbit to a small stream, where he skillfully skinned and gutted it with a knife, quickly preparing a plump piece of rabbit meat.

As night fell, a thick white mist rose in the forest, and the rain intensified.

Helag pulled out a rainproof cloth from his space ring and set up a simple rain shelter under a tree. He also gathered some dry firewood, wild vegetables, and mushrooms from the surroundings.

He piled the dry firewood together and snapped his fingers, igniting it with a simple use of fire element energy particles.

Since advancing to a second-class apprentice, Helag could manipulate these different energy particles to perform basic spells.

The most common use was igniting fires with fire element energy particles.

This simple absorption of a bit of fire element energy particles had no offensive power but was perfect for daily life.

Additionally, there were plant element energy particles, which could accelerate wound healing. The forest was filled with these plant element energy particles.

Helag skewered the rabbit on a stick and placed it over the fire, taking out oil and seasonings from his bag.

He brushed layer after layer of oil onto the rabbit meat, slowly roasting it until the aroma began to fill the forest.

Raindrops pattered on the rain shelter, creating a rhythmic sound, while the fire occasionally crackled.

Helag closed his eyes slightly, occasionally turning the rabbit, enjoying the peaceful and serene atmosphere.

The tranquil rainy night in the forest made Helag feel sleepy.

But he couldn't sleep yet, as there were unexpected visitors.

Two people were approaching from a distance, their footsteps gradually getting closer.

As they neared, the yellow firelight illuminated their faces.

One was a middle-aged man with a thick beard, wearing armor and holding a blood-stained sword. He looked at Helag with a serious expression.

Beside the middle-aged knight was a sixteen or seventeen-year-old boy with golden hair and luxurious clothing, clearly a noble of some significance.

"Hello, traveler. I am Kieran Banks from the Tasone Territory, and this is Josh Banks, the second son of the Banks family. Could we borrow some fire? My young master is freezing," Kieran asked sincerely, with a hint of pleading in his eyes.

Helag squinted slightly and glanced at them. "There's space. Sit down."

[Kieran Banks: Strength 4.2, Agility 3.2, Constitution 3.9, body filled with unknown energy.]

"Another great knight," Helag thought, recalling Baron Buck and feeling a bit nostalgic.

Kieran and Josh cautiously approached, their movements restrained, as if afraid of alarming Helag.

After sitting by the fire, Josh shivered, clearly having been cold for a long time.

"Sizzle…"

The rabbit was almost done, sizzling and dripping oil, causing sparks to fly as the oil hit the fire.

Helag sat up, grabbed a rabbit leg with one hand, and took out a knife with the other, starting to cut the leg.

"Hiss~" Helag felt the heat but managed to tear off the leg, taking a big bite.

The rabbit meat was juicy and tender, with a unique flavor from the firewood, leaving a lingering taste.

Helag swallowed the meat, feeling warm.

Beside the rabbit, a pot hung over the fire, cooking wild vegetable and mushroom soup. Deep Blue's database confirmed these were edible.

After finishing the rabbit leg, Helag lifted the pot lid, releasing a burst of fragrant steam.

He took out a bowl and ladle from his space ring, serving himself a bowl of soup, blowing on it to cool it down.

Kieran's expression grew more serious upon seeing Helag take the bowl and ladle out of thin air, his eyes filled with more respect.

"Grumble…"

A stomach growled, and Helag looked up to see it was Josh, the noble boy.

Helag smiled but didn't say anything, continuing to blow on his hot soup.

"Sir, could we buy some food from you? We'll pay," Kieran requested.

Recognizing Helag as a wizard, Kieran was cautious, fearing to offend him.

Helag looked up. "The rabbit isn't enough for me alone. Can't you hunt as a great knight?"

Kieran felt more certain of Helag's identity, seeing his nonchalant attitude. "I didn't consider it. We've been fleeing and forgot to hunt. Now it's raining, and I can't take the young master hunting in the dark."

"Uncle Kieran, it's not your fault. You've done well to protect me. I can go without food for a night. We'll find something in the morning," Josh reassured Kieran.

"Here, ten gold coins. Do you want it?" Helag took out a thick biscuit from his space ring.

"Ten gold coins?" Josh looked at the ordinary biscuit, then at Helag. "No, I'll give you ten thousand gold coins."

Helag laughed. "Ten thousand gold coins? Can you carry that much?"

Josh explained, "When I return to Tasone Territory, I'll give you ten thousand gold coins, no less."

Josh saw from Kieran's expression and actions that Helag was extraordinary and wanted to recruit him.

"I give you a biscuit, and You give me a promise?" Helag laughed.

Unexpectedly, Josh became emotional, kneeling in the mud with one knee and placing his right hand on his chest. "I swear on the honor of the Banks family, if I return to Tasone Territory's Markfield City, I'll give you ten thousand gold coins."

"I'm Helag Merlin. Ten thousand gold coins isn't just for a biscuit. You want me to deal with your troubles? Sorry, I don't like trouble," Helag shook his head, uninterested in noble power struggles.

"Mr. Helag, you misunderstand. I don't want to use you. Just escort us safely to Markfield City," Josh said sincerely.

"Markfield City? That's on my way. If ten thousand gold coins is just for escorting, I have no reason not to earn it. Lead the way tomorrow," Helag agreed.

Helag recalled the map. He needed to go there, and having these two might make things easier.
