Kapitel 55: bm

Meanwhile, underground…

Xiao Mei moved swiftly through the earth, her body cutting through the dense soil like a blade through water. The air was damp, and the weight of the ground pressed down on her as she tunneled deeper into the ancient testing grounds. Despite the pressure, her movements were fluid, her Sakura Qi keeping her body light and agile. The echoes of the battle above reached her even here, muffled yet powerful. Every time the Earth Azure Dragon roared, the ground trembled, and Xiao Mei could feel the vibrations rattling her bones.

She pressed on, ignoring the shaking earth as her mind focused on a singular goal—the Slumbering Liquid. Somewhere deep within these grounds, the ancient substance was hidden. It was a rare liquid, one that could send even a beast as powerful as the Dì Lóng back into its eternal sleep. But finding it was easier said than done. The testing grounds were vast, and the liquid's location was shrouded in secrecy.

Above, she could feel the surge of qi from Yang Feng's battle with the dragon. Even underground, the intensity of their clash sent ripples of power through the ground. The sheer scale of the dragon's qi was overwhelming, and Xiao Mei couldn't help but worry for her companion.

"You better keep your promise, Yang Feng," she muttered under her breath, her eyes narrowing as she quickened her pace.

The path ahead of her was dark, illuminated only by the faint pink glow of her sakura qi. Roots and stones jutted out from the earth, but she moved past them with ease, her mind sharp and her senses heightened. She had to move quickly. Yang Feng wouldn't be able to hold off the dragon forever, and if she didn't find the Slumbering Liquid soon, both of them would be in grave danger.

As she dug deeper, Xiao Mei's mind wandered back to Yang Feng. He was always like this—reckless, bold, but somehow always confident in the face of danger. It was that confidence that had drawn her to him in the first place, though she would never admit it. She respected him. Respected his strength, his resolve, his determination to always push forward no matter the odds.

In many ways, they were alike. Both of them had suffered, both had been betrayed, and both had vowed to grow stronger. And yet, every time they stood together on the battlefield, it felt as though they were trying to outdo one another. Neither wanted to show weakness, and neither would back down.

And in those moments, Xiao Mei found herself revealing parts of herself that no one else saw—her determination, her drive to surpass him, and perhaps, just a hint of something more.

She smiled slightly at the thought. I'll surpass you yet, Yang Feng. Just wait.

---

Back on the surface…

Yang Feng stood at the edge of the shattered cliffs, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth. The blow from the Dì Lóng had been more powerful than he expected. His body ached, and his qi reserves were draining faster than he would have liked, but he wasn't about to give up. Not yet.

The Earth Azure Dragon loomed before him, its massive form coiled through the earth, its head rising high into the sky. Its eyes were locked onto him with an almost predatory focus, glowing with the cold, calculating intelligence of an ancient being.

Damn, Yang Feng thought, his mind racing as he assessed the situation. His Double Pupils had managed to slow the dragon for only a moment, but it wasn't enough. The creature's mind was too powerful, its will too strong. It had shattered the illusion with a single blow, and now it was angrier than ever.

But Yang Feng wasn't done yet.

He took a deep breath, centering himself as the storm of blue lightning crackled around him. The energy surged through his body, his muscles tensing as he prepared for the next phase of the fight. His lightning blade flickered back to life, humming with raw power as he adjusted his grip on the hilt.

The dragon let out a deafening roar, its massive jaws opening wide as it prepared to strike. Yang Feng could feel the shift in the air, the tension building as the beast's qi surged forward like a tidal wave. The ground trembled beneath him, and the sky above darkened as the dragon's qi wrapped itself around the battlefield, suffocating everything in its wake.

For a brief moment, time seemed to slow. The dragon lunged forward, its jaws snapping shut with enough force to shatter mountains. Yang Feng's body flickered, disappearing from view as he dodged the attack with lightning speed. He reappeared above the dragon, his blade flashing as he struck downward, aiming for one of the beast's massive scales.

But just like before, his blade barely made a dent.

I need to find a weak spot, Yang Feng thought, his mind racing as he dodged another strike. There has to be one.

He glanced toward the dragon's eyes. The beast's massive golden pupils followed his every move, sharp and focused. It was like staring into the abyss, the ancient wisdom and power of the dragon staring back at him. But something about those eyes gave him an idea.

He smirked to himself. I'll go for the eyes.

Without a moment of hesitation, Yang Feng surged forward, his body blurring as he raced toward the dragon's head. His speed was unmatched, the lightning flickering around him as he closed the distance in an instant. He appeared just above the dragon's right eye, his blade crackling with energy as he prepared to strike.

But the dragon was faster.

With a speed that defied its massive size, the Dì Lóng's tail whipped around, striking Yang Feng from behind. The impact was like being hit by a mountain, and Yang Feng was sent flying through the air once again. He crashed into the side of a cliff, the rocks shattering beneath him as he tumbled down into the ravine below.

Dust and debris filled the air, but Yang Feng's mind was still sharp. He coughed, his body aching from the impact, but he forced himself to stand. There was no time to rest. He had to keep the dragon's attention on him, had to keep it distracted long enough for Xiao Mei to find the Slumbering Liquid.

As he stood, his vision blurred for a moment, and his thoughts drifted back to Xiao Mei.

---

Back underground…

Xiao Mei continued her search, her hands digging through the soil with increasing urgency. The dragon's roars echoed through the ground, each one sending a fresh wave of tremors through the earth. She knew Yang Feng was still fighting, still holding the dragon at bay, but she also knew he couldn't last much longer.

She had to find the liquid.

Her sakura qi flared around her, illuminating the dark tunnel as she pushed deeper into the earth. Sweat dripped from her brow, and her heart raced in her chest, but she kept moving, her determination driving her forward.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she spotted it—a faint, glowing pool of liquid nestled deep within the earth. The Slumbering Liquid.

Xiao Mei's eyes widened in relief as she hurried toward the pool. The liquid was a shimmering, silvery substance that seemed to pulse with a life of its own. Just a single drop of it would be enough to put the dragon back into its eternal slumber.

She quickly pulled out a small vial from her pouch and carefully filled it with the liquid. The ground above trembled once more, and Xiao Mei could hear the dragon's roars growing louder. She had to hurry.

"Hold on, Yang Feng," she muttered under her breath as she turned and sprinted back toward the surface.

---

Back above, Yang Feng stood once more, wiping the blood from his lip, his eyes never leaving the dragon. "Just a little longer," he thought to himself, his heart pounding in his chest. "Just hold on a little longer."
