Kapitel 25: What’s Going On?
Xiao Yu headed west and soon arrived at a small town close to the Magical Beast Mountain Range. If nothing went wrong, Little Fairy Doctor should be in this town!
However, Xiao Yu didn't actively seek out Little Doctor, nor did he want to cause trouble before entering the Magical Beast Mountain Range. Since he was unfamiliar with the area, despite being an eight-star Dou practitioner, it was wise to remain cautious.
Xiao Yu planned to stop in Qing Shan Town to resupply and rest. Not knowing how long he would spend in the Magical Beast Mountain Range, he needed to bring extra rations and water. As Xiao Yu entered the small town, he attracted no particular attention. The streets were bustling with people, mostly mercenaries, who were loudly discussing women, alcohol, and magical beasts.
Xiao Yu first went to some shops on the sides of the street to buy food, then began searching for a blacksmith. Having just signed the Flame Sky Sword Art, he was in need of a suitable weapon.
The shops in the town were mostly bustling with business, mainly medicine shops and inns. Given the proximity to the Magical Beast Mountain Range, the town's medicine shops were filled with herbs gathered from the mountains. Inns catered to travelers and mercenaries heading to the Magical Beast Mountain Range. After scanning the town, Xiao Yu finally spotted a blacksmith shop at the far end of the town with a sign that read "Wan's Blacksmith." Xiao Yu's face lit up. "Finally found a blacksmith!"
As Xiao Yu stepped inside, he was greeted by a wave of heat. The temperature inside was starkly different from the cooler outside; compared to the inside, the outside felt like air conditioning!
Ignoring the heat, Xiao Yu activated his Dou Qi to cover his body, feeling better immediately. He noticed that the clanging of metal came from the second floor and, seeing no one in the main hall, headed directly upstairs.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The sounds of metal striking grew louder. Upon reaching the second floor, Xiao Yu saw a burly man, over two meters tall, with muscles like forged steel, hammering away at a red-hot piece of metal, sparks flying everywhere.
"Uncle, I'd like to buy a weapon!" Xiao Yu called out.
The man seemed not to hear and continued hammering. At this moment, a creaking sound came from nearby. Xiao Yu turned to see someone who resembled the man with the hammer walking out of a room.
The newcomer saw Xiao Yu and gave a hearty smile. "Customer, are you here to buy a weapon?"
Xiao Yu nodded. "Yes, I'm looking for a sword, but he doesn't seem to be paying attention." Xiao Yu pointed at the man with the hammer.
The man showed an apologetic expression and said, "He's my younger brother. He had an accident while forging and can no longer hear."
Understanding, Xiao Yu nodded. The man continued, "What kind of sword are you looking for?"
"I need a sword. Do you have one?" Xiao Yu asked.
The man pondered for a moment before replying, "We do have a sword, but it's a bit peculiar. Are you sure you want it?"
"Peculiar?" Xiao Yu frowned. "Can you show it to me?"
"Certainly!" The man said, leading Xiao Yu to a room deep in the corridor on the second floor.
Opening the door, the man guided Xiao Yu to a weapon rack. Nearby was a dark table on which lay a long sword. The blade, gleaming black, was extremely sharp, and the hilt, fire-red, was inlaid with a crimson magical core. The red light of the core created a stark contrast with the black of the blade.
Xiao Yu immediately took a liking to the sword, but he was puzzled. Despite its impressive appearance and the presence of the magical core, it seemed unsold. The man, sensing Xiao Yu's confusion, explained, "The reason this sword hasn't sold is that it's too heavy to be used as a weapon."
"Too heavy?" Xiao Yu asked, curious. "How much does it weigh?"
The man was silent for a moment before answering, "It weighs ten thousand pounds!"
Xiao Yu's eyes widened. "Did you say ten thousand pounds?"
"Yes, ten thousand pounds! The sword's material is a meteorite iron. Originally, it weighed two thousand pounds, which isn't too much for a Dou Master. But the problem lies with the magical core!" The man pointed to the magical core in the hilt.
"You mean the weight increased because of the magical core?" Xiao Yu asked.
The man nodded. "Yes, this Tier 1 Fire Elemental Magical Core was obtained by the Bentu Mercenary Group from hunting a Flame Cloud Turtle. We didn't expect it would cause such a problem. Many people have tried it; even lifting it requires Dou Qi support. It's manageable for a short time, but maintaining it for long periods is unrealistic. That's why many people gave up. It's a pity for this Tier 1 magical core." The man sighed.
"I'd like to try it," Xiao Yu said, his interest piqued by the sword.
The man hesitated but then agreed. "Are you sure?"
Xiao Yu nodded. "Yes, I'm sure."
Without further resistance, the man stepped aside, and Xiao Yu approached the sword. Taking a deep breath, he gripped the hilt and, with a surge of Dou Qi, lifted the sword with ease.
Bang!
To Xiao Yu's surprise, the sword felt light in his hands. He almost stumbled from the force he exerted!
"Why is it so light?" Xiao Yu wondered, looking at the sword in his hands. He then released his left hand and swung the sword with his right hand, handling it as if it were a lightweight weapon.
The man was stunned. "What's going on?" Both Xiao Yu and the man were bewildered.
The man, not believing his eyes, tried lifting the sword himself. As he grabbed it, it crashed to the ground with a thud!
"Is it really that heavy?" Xiao Yu asked, puzzled. He then lifted the sword with one hand again, much to the man's shock.
The man swallowed hard and stammered, "W-what is going on here?"
