Kapitel 44: Chapter 44

Chapter 44: Don't Try to Drive Me Away

After reading the latest diary entry, Liu Erlong closed the virtual diary with her mind and quietly waited for the reward prompt to appear.

However, after standing there for several minutes, there was no reward like the one she received the day before: "Lifespan +30 years, aging speed -10%." This left her momentarily stunned.

Thinking back to the notification she had heard when receiving her last reward, she suddenly realized the truth.

The reward she received the day before was unlocked because the number of people reading the diary had reached three. In other words, rewards weren't simply granted by reading the diary, but rather by reaching a specific number of readers, which then triggered new rewards.

Because she had obtained her *Diary Copy* later than Bibi Dong and Ah Yin, Liu Erlong only now understood what the other two had figured out days earlier.

Frustrated, she sat down on a stone bench, puffing up her cheeks in dissatisfaction. Initially, she had thought that reading the diary regularly would keep earning her rewards. Now, it seemed she had been too optimistic.

Still, the thought that more readers in the future would lead to unlocking greater rewards quickly chased away her annoyance.

Her curiosity about the diary's author and the two others with access to Zhao Ling's diary began to grow. She was eager to meet them and learn more about the diary's contents firsthand.

Unfortunately, the diary entries she had read over the past two days didn't disclose their locations. This left her unable to approach them, which made her feel rather helpless.

Meanwhile, back in Soto City at the Great Fighting Soul Arena, the plot was thickening. With the tie between Bibi Dong and Zhi Lin, the arena had achieved its goal of breaking Bibi Dong's winning streak.

After a two-hour rest, Bibi Dong, having fully recovered her soul power, returned to the ring. This time, she faced her fourth and fifth opponents—both silver-level fighters with badges to match.

While their soul power levels were higher than hers, their actual combat capabilities fell far short. Unsurprisingly, Bibi Dong won both matches with ease.

Zhao Ling, however, had refrained from placing any bets this time. He worried that the Great Fighting Soul Arena might resort to assigning opponents far above her level, as they had done previously.

After all, he already had nearly 300,000 gold soul coins—a fortune by Douluo Continent standards. In the original novel, a single gold soul coin could support a family of three for months. With his wealth, Zhao Ling and Ah Yin could now live comfortably without fear of poverty.

He decided there was no need to take unnecessary risks. Those who are content with what they have may not be overly ambitious, but they do have the advantage of stability. Zhao Ling's cautious nature kept him from succumbing to greed, protecting him from potential losses.

As he lounged in a luxurious private room in the arena, enjoying Bibi Dong's matches, Yu Xiaogang was having a much rougher time.

After treatment from a senior healing soul master at the arena, the swelling on Yu Xiaogang's right cheek had finally subsided. The pain in his neck, nearly broken from a slap, was also less severe.

But what troubled him most was the loss of another three or four teeth. Altogether, he had now lost almost ten teeth, leaving his speech slurred and his words leaking through the gaps.

For now, it wasn't too bad, as the weather was warm. But he dreaded the colder seasons—when the wind would sting his gums and chill his breath.

Seething with anger, Yu Xiaogang clenched his fists, trembling as he thought of Zhao Ling. He couldn't explain why he had disliked Zhao Ling from the very first moment they met, as though they were destined to be at odds.

'If I could defeat him, I'd tear him apart. A man like him doesn't deserve to exist in this world.'

Yet, Yu Xiaogang was acutely aware of his own limitations. He was no match for Zhao Ling. This inability to overpower someone he detested filled him with frustration, leaving him on the verge of madness.

Just as his rage boiled over, the door to his private room creaked open. The person in charge of the Great Fighting Soul Arena stepped inside uninvited, a practiced smile on his face.

Yu Xiaogang frowned, his tone cold. "What is it? If there's no pressing matter, leave. I'm trying to rest."

His curt words momentarily stunned the arena manager, who glanced around the room in disbelief. He wanted to ask if Yu Xiaogang had forgotten whose property this private room was.

'This room belongs to the Great Fighting Soul Arena, not the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex family. How has it suddenly become your personal domain? I need your permission to enter?'

Though displeased, the manager reminded himself of Yu Xiaogang's family background and suppressed his irritation. Maintaining his professional demeanor, he addressed Yu Xiaogang.

"Second Young Master Yu, as you've seen, we saved you again today. Without our intervention, you'd have been seriously injured."

He paused, his tone becoming slightly more serious. "I strongly advise you to return to the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex family. If you stay here, that woman, Bibi Dong, and the man, Zhao Ling, might team up to kill you."

The manager's goal was clear. He didn't want a tragedy to occur within or around the Great Fighting Soul Arena. Trying to protect the arena's reputation, he swallowed his pride and thickened his skin to persuade Yu Xiaogang to leave.

But Yu Xiaogang's stubborn nature wasn't easily swayed.

In the original novel, even after being disowned by Yu Luomian and expelled from his family for loving Liu Erlong, Yu Xiaogang never returned. Not even when his nephew informed him that his father missed him and wished to see him.

By the time Yu Xiaogang and Liu Erlong returned to the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex family, the clan had already been annihilated, leaving corpses scattered across the land.

Now, with the manager urging him to leave the Great Fighting Soul Arena and abandon his pursuit of Bibi Dong, Yu Xiaogang's temper flared.

"Why are you so eager to get rid of me? What's your agenda? Let me make this clear: I'm not leaving. Unless Miss Dong'er agrees to come with me, don't even think about driving me away!"

His eyes blazed with determination as he shouted, "I, Yu Xiaogang, have my own principles! I won't be swayed!"
