Kapitel 64: Chapter 64: A Chapter of Pure Water

The next day, Xian'er went into seclusion to prepare for breaking through to Dou Wang. Wei Yang found himself with nothing to do. He had to stay outside to protect Xian'er and didn't dare to distract himself with other things, like alchemy.

Even though he was now a peak fourth-tier alchemist and his soul was at the late mortal stage, attempting to refine a fifth-tier pill still required thorough preparation and full concentration.

In the past six months, he had visited the Mittel Auction House twice—once three months ago and once before his seclusion. Each time he visited, he brought along some third or fourth-tier pills and returned with herbs acquired by Mitte.

As for the Xiao family, after the last batch of second-tier pill transactions, Wei Yang hadn't gone to settle things yet. He probably wouldn't continue collaborating with them in the future either. Low-tier pills, like first or second-tiers, could be casually handed to the Xiao family since they weren't worth much. However, pills above the third-tier couldn't be dealt with carelessly. They had to be given to the Mittel Auction House to maximize the benefits.

Currently, Wei Yang was not lacking in third and fourth-tier herbs, including magical cores. He even had a substantial stock of fifth-tier herbs. Adding to that were the dozens of herbs he dug up from the cliff cave opportunity and those acquired from the Gu Te treasure vault... Overall, he had quite a collection of rare fourth-tier and some fifth-tier herbs.

However, he hadn't dared to easily attempt refining fifth-tier pills earlier due to a lack of confidence. If he were alone, he might have tried them already. Failing a few times wouldn't matter to him; he could afford such practice. But unfortunately, there was a little housekeeper watching over him. All valuable herbs were in her care. Without her approval, Wei Yang couldn't refine anything, as it was difficult to make a meal without rice.

Xian'er was also an alchemist and now a peak third-tier alchemist. She understood that alchemy could fail. However, she absolutely wouldn't permit any extravagant or wasteful ideas of using high-tier herbs for practice unless there was over 50% assurance of success. If not, a single glance from her would make Wei Yang yield. He had tried to coax her before, but unfortunately, the little girl was sharp in such matters and wouldn't fall for it. Conversely, under Xian'er's coy attack, Wei Yang unwittingly handed over all the herbs he acquired from the cliff cave opportunity to her, thus shooting himself in the foot.

What else could he do? Life felt tight and constrained. Outside, he was a peak fourth-tier alchemist, admired and respected. Each time he went to the auction house, that enchantress Ya Fei almost clung to him, seemingly wishing she could devour him whole. Master Gu Ni was like a devoted lackey, serving diligently and respectfully. Yet at home, things were tough. The financial power was not in his hands. Sometimes, Wei Yang couldn't help but sigh. As the little girl grew up, she was no longer the obedient little darling. He had brought back a little ancestor!

Unexpectedly, even in the Dou Qi continent, he couldn't escape the destiny of being ruled by his girlfriend.

Why then, did he find joy in it? Silly!

Those who could not only have a large harem but also make them coexist harmoniously, like sisters without any scheming, and still be utterly compliant, obeying every word, acting as they please—how did those greats achieve that? His admiration for those greats was like an endless stream, unending, like a volcanic eruption, unstoppable...

In reality, where does such good fortune come from? Even with a charmed potion, it's unlikely. People are not puppets.

Fortunately, Wei Yang was quite content. He never had the idea of having a large harem, so he wouldn't face such monumental problems.

Wei Yang comfortably lay on a rock in front of the cave, using his hands as a pillow, lazily basking in the sun, humming a tune. Strands of faint golden light, almost invisible to the naked eye, were absorbed into his body, converting into his own strength. With the influx of yang attribute energy, he felt warm all over. It was like soaking in a hot spring, giving a feeling of laziness.

Yang attribute energy, while seemingly similar to fire attribute energy, was different. It gave a sense of brightness, peace, and warmth—neither burning nor freezing, but rather peaceful with a vibrant vitality. Fire attribute energy had warmth but also conveyed a sense of heat, violence, and destruction. Any energy has its good and bad sides. Yang attribute energy, though warm and peaceful with vitality, could still be destructive when in a frenzy. Water and wood energy can also kill, can't they? Of course, they can. Power has two sides: it can save or kill, depending on how you use it.

Fire can be violent, but it can also refine pills. Aren't the twenty-three different flames violent enough? The fifth-ranked Flame of Life has vibrant vitality, able to accelerate the growth and maturity of herbs—a flame every alchemist dreams of acquiring. The ninth-ranked Three Thousand Burning Flames contain the power of stars and are known for miraculous healing, able to recover from any wounds as long as the host isn't dead, also called the Three Thousand Star Flame, the Undying Flame.

The Yin-Yang Twin Flames contain the dual powers of life and death. Yang fire saves, being endless; Yin fire kills, leaving no trace. It's indeed odd that such a flame is ranked only twenty-first.

The Yin-Yang Twin Flames, ranked twenty-first on the list of different flames, was born in the cosmic void, with black and white flames entangled like twin fish swimming in a circle. Yin and yang are the laws of the universe, the origin of all things. A flame manifesting from such a principle ranks at twenty-first? That's quite ironic. It's hard to comprehend how the rankings on the list were decided.

What is yin and yang? It signifies the universe's rules, the beginning of everything. Yet, a flame derived from such rules ranks almost at the end of the list. Wei Yang couldn't understand it.

Could it be because the practitioners on the Dou Qi continent are too rudimentary in their cultivation, ignorant of the true meaning of the principles?

Moreover, the ancestor of the Xiao family, semi-emperor Xiao Xuan, also wielded the Yin-Yang Twin Flames. With Xiao Xuan's strength, he should be able to find a more powerful flame. After all, aside from the top three different flames on the list, the others existed in multiple forms. Yet, Xiao Xuan wielded the nearly last-ranked Yin-Yang Twin Flames, which was quite peculiar.

Of course, he not only wielded the Yin-Yang Twin Flames but also another two different flames. Perhaps it was precisely due to the presence of the Yin-Yang Twin Flames that he could forcibly merge the other two into his body. Hmm, maybe.
