66.66% Son Of Destiny / Chapter 6: Escape

Kapitel 6: Escape

At the same time, the young master of the Long family arrived outside the Ye Clan's gates.

With his cultivation, he could've been here in a flash.

But this was Ye Clan business, and with the Frozen Palace involved, he decided it was wise to wait.

Letting some time pass, he assumed the matter would have been settled by now.

Satisfied that he had waited long enough, he made his move.

A smug smile curled at the corner of his lips.

Today was the day he would finally settle his grudge against Ye Chen.

Once Ye Chen was dead, Long Wei would claim his origin and steal the physique Ye Chen was fated to awaken in the future.

The thought alone sent a thrill through him, and he couldn't hold back his laughter.

"Ye Chen... Ye Chen,"

"Everything that's yours will soon be mine---your fiancée, your physique, your talent."

"Today, I, Long Wei, will make my dream a reality."

"And the world will thank me for ridding it of a demon like you. Haha!"

Soon, Long Wei stood outside the Ye Clan's grounds.

At the entrance, he spotted his servant, Liu Chen, rushing to catch up with him.

Liu Chen had served the Long family for over ninety years, faithfully attending to both Long Wei and his father.

Due to his long service, he was entrusted with almost all significant tasks.

But today, he was in a state of panic.

He had failed, or rather, there had been no opportunity to perform his duties.

"Young Master,"

Liu Chen called out, breathless.

Long Wei halted and turned to face him, his expression growing stern.

He had instructed Liu Chen to bribe City Lord Xia Gunshan and activate the formation to ensure Ye Chen couldn't escape.

Although it seemed absurd for a monk in the Foundation Establishment Realm to target a so-called waste so blatantly, Long Wei knew just how dangerous Ye Chen could be.

Naturally, he wasn't going to give him any chance to retaliate.

"Speak. How are the preparations? Did that bastard Ye Chen tore his face and shouted at Maiden Zhao? Has our spy reported anything?"

Long Wei asked.

Liu Chen hesitated, his eyes darting nervously.

"There's a problem, Master. I failed... Please, punish me."

Long Wei's eyes narrowed.

"Failed? What do you mean?"

Before Liu Chen could explain, Long Wei's aura erupted, a powerful torrent of energy radiating from him.

The pressure from his late-stage Foundation Establishment Realm cultivation was so intense that it nearly forced the surrounding crowd to their knees.

The onlookers, who had gathered out of curiosity, turned pale.

Some stumbled backward, struggling to breathe under the crushing weight of Long Wei's aura.

They were independent cultivators who, when not immersed in their own training, enjoyed spectating and gossiping about others' misfortunes.

Today, they had all gathered to witness the Ye Clan become a joke.

There was also lingering resentment toward the Ye family, as they had been overly domineering in the past.

On the other hand...

Long wei was extremely furious.

"What happened? Didn't we have the Ye Clan surrounded? How could Ye Chen escape?"

"Did the City Lord refuse? That damn Xia Gunshan! Or does that old bastard Ye Shaodu want to protect that waste?"

Long Wei's voice cut through the tense silence.

And hearing him, Liu Chen's face grew even paler.

He swallowed hard, trying to steady his trembling voice.

"M-Master, Ye Chen managed to flee with the help of the Frozen Palace. Their boat, which was parked outside the city, has already taken off."

"At first, I thought it must be a joke. How could the Frozen Maiden help a waste like him?"

"But now, after confirming with our men in the Ye family, it seems that trash has indeed bewitched the kind-hearted girl."

Long Wei's eyes flashed with anger and disbelief. He clenched his fists, the ground beneath him trembling with his fury.

He had been so sure of his plan, so confident that today would be the day he finally eliminated Ye Chen.

The fact that his enemy had slipped through his grasp, aided by the Frozen Palace no less, was a severe blow to him.

"Useless!" Long Wei growled, his voice a dangerous rumble.

"How could you let this happen? Do you realize how significant this is?"

Liu Chen flinched but dared not look away. "Master, I... what could I do—"

"Enough!" Long Wei cut him off.

"Where did the Frozen Palace's caravan head after leaving the city?"

Liu Chen took a deep breath, his nerves on edge.

"Master, the waste, Ye Chen...he was heading  shouting...no he was heading toward Glory Mountain City."

Long Wei's expression darkened further. He took a moment to control his raging emotions, his aura retracting but still crackling with residual anger.

"Hah! Glory Mountain Range."

"Immediately gather all the elders, monks, guest monks, even rogue cultivators—tell them that Young Master Long needs them."

"As long as they help me this time, the rewards afterward will be great. Also, announce that because of the trauma my woman suffered, I want Ye Chen dead."

"Find the assassins from the Heaven Devouring Pavilion. Whoever brings me Ye Chen's head will be rewarded with 20 million high-grade spirit stones."

If it had been anyone else, Long Wei wouldn't have put in so much effort.

But Ye Chen was different.

Long Wei was deeply concerned that if he didn't eliminate Ye Chen now, the man would grow stronger and become unstoppable.

In the future, Ye Chen might repeat the same sinful acts...

Perhaps even his mother might...

Long Wei didn't dare to think further.

He just took a deep breath and disappeared.

...

Meanwhile, a thousand miles away from Xianglan City, in the northeast of the western region, a majestic cry echoed through the skies.

A colossal boat, towering like a floating palace, was being pulled through the clouds by a blue and white phoenix. Its wings spanned hundreds of meters, and the beast's roar shook the heavens as its powerful form soared gracefully, as if carrying the weight of kingdoms with ease.

On the deck of this vessel, a young man stood, gazing out towards the endless sky.

He was none other than Ye Chen.

His eyes sparkled with nostalgia and excitement.

This feeling was familiar but different.

In his past life, Ye Chen had spent countless days aboard luxurious, chartered planes, fooling around with rich women, enjoying all the pleasures that wealth and power could afford.

The only difference now was that his status was worse than that of a beggar.

Thinking about this...He let out a soft sigh, yet his lips curling into a faint smile.

Ye Chen looked up at the endless blue expanse.

He felt relieved that he hadn't followed his original routine; otherwise, he would have made more enemies, something he couldn't afford.

Ye Chen was in the Foundation Establishment Realm, third layer, with the Human Emperor bloodline and the Immortal Tyrant Physique, a unique constitution across all ages.

It is said that those who possess this physique have a higher chance of becoming immortal and ascending to the upper world.

But now, his body was completely ruined, and he could no longer feel any energy fluctuations.

That, however, didn't mean he couldn't sense killing intent. The days in the Ye Clan had been difficult, and before the awakening of his memories, he had already offended many people.

It's true that opportunities come when one faces danger, but Ye Chen wasn't like those masochistic protagonists who liked getting beaten and then swore to avenge themselves one day.

If possible, he wanted to avoid all this nonsense and live happily.

Perhaps find a wife and raise a few children...

But that was a dream for the future, and currently, he wasn't strong enough to protect that happiness.

At this moment, a voice as cold as the winds of winter interrupted his thoughts.

"Boy, although I don't know why you're so determined to go to Glory Mountain City, for someone like you with no cultivation, it's a death sentence. That city is not meant for the weak,"

The voice said.

The speaker was a woman dressed in an elegant white robe.

Her figure was flawless, and her every movement was as graceful as falling snow.

She was Xue Lian, the powerful guardian of Zhao Yumu.

Her gaze was sharp as she observed Ye Chen, her eyes narrowing with both curiosity and confusion.

She had seen many youths in her time, but none like Ye Chen, who didn't seem to understand the dangers ahead of him.

"Glory Mountain City is ruled by one of the most powerful City Lords in the region. His cultivation is not like that of a small place like Xianglan; he's in the Void Refining stage, the same as me, but far more vicious,"

"He despises idlers and only respects the strong. If you think you can hide there, you're mistaken. You'll have to fight to survive. Worse, you could even become a slave."

"And let's not even begin to talk about the rogue cultivators who prowl the wilderness nearby. You would have been better off staying in Xianglan City."

Ye Chen turned and looked and saw...

Standing beside Xue Lian in her flowing blue robes was Zhao Yumu, his former fiancée, who had not said much since they had boarded the boat.

She too was perplexed.

When Ye Chen had asked for a favor, she had expected him to beg for pills, resources, anything that might help him rebuild his shattered meridians.

But instead, all he had requested was help in leaving the city.

Zhao Yumu glanced at him, her expression unreadable.

To her, everything had gone much more smoothly than expected.

She had been prepared to offer compensation for breaking off the engagement, but it seemed Ye Chen wanted nothing from her.

That saved her the trouble. No attachments, no lingering guilt.

Now she could sever their bond completely, without any burden of moral obligation.

But still, something about Ye Chen's calmness bothered her.

Ye Chen's smile remained as he turned to face Xue Lian fully.

"Senior Xue, I never said I wanted to go to Glory Mountain City. All I asked was if you were going there or not."

"The place I want to visit is beyond, on the other shore of Glory Mountain Range---Red Squirrel City, the city of freedom."

Hearing him, Zhao Yumu's chest tightened with disappointment.

She had expected Ye Chen to be brave, aiming high, ready to restore his strength and take on the risks of Glory Mountain City, a place full of danger but brimming with potential.

But now, he wanted to go to a small city that had already withered over time, a place with no significance.

"Sure enough, Aunt Xue wasn't wrong. With someone who is afraid of danger and has such a shallow mindset, he simply doesn't deserve to be my husband,"

Zhao Yumu thought, and the remaining guilt in her heart disappeared completely.
