Kapitel 23: Chapter 21 Gathering the Wolf Pack
The carpenter was in charge of food and lodging, so he just stayed on the first floor of the new house, making furniture directly. He came with a few pieces of ready-made furniture, which Xue Dong had chosen in advance on his mobile phone. The dimensions had all been repeatedly checked to save time.
Xue Dong and Qin Jianzhong went to cut down pine trees. How much timber they would take away when they left was all negotiated in advance.
In the blink of an eye, another eight days passed, and potatoes and sweet potatoes ripened one after another. Li Pan, Qin Jianzhong, and others began to get busy.
They had to finish all the work before the rainy season arrived, without wasting time. The corn was also close to ripening, just a few days shy. They could pick the tender ones now, but once the corn matured, it would become tough and could be ground into cornmeal.
The wheat straw also ripened, and there was plenty of work waiting to be done. They made a call to have people from the base come over to work, and at the same time collect the grain.
The three of them practically lived in the fields, everyone working nonstop, not going to sleep until past two in the morning.
Previously, Li Pan had incubated about a dozen chicks, with a relatively low hatch rate, but it was better than none. Anyway, there were vegetable leaves and such at home, enough to feed them, so they were kept and raised. Qin Jianzhong would feed them every day, watching them very carefully.
The yield of potatoes was very high, with large sizes as well. Sweet potatoes were also dug out. There were more than ten thousand pounds of potatoes and about nine thousand pounds of sweet potatoes, achieving a high yield and a bumper harvest.
A relieved smile spread across the faces of the three.
"This yield is really not small, fantastic, these few months of hard work were not in vain, Pan'er, you're amazing,"
Xue Dong excitedly gave her a thumbs up.
"Everyone worked hard. Later on, thanks to Brother Qin and your help, otherwise I couldn't have finished so much work by myself,"

By the tenth day, the carpenter had finished all the furniture. According to Xue Dong's requirement, every room had a wooden bed and a wardrobe, a small bedside table, and then he also made storage cabinets. The storeroom needed cabinets, and both the first and second floors needed storage cabinets, as well as bookshelves, desks, and so on.
Once the work was done, he took his grain and left.
Xue Dong harvested the potatoes and sweet potatoes and then made a call to the Base Commander.
"Boss, the potatoes and sweet potatoes have been harvested. Send someone to pick them up. I've harvested ten thousand pounds of each type, I'll keep a thousand pounds of each for eating and seeding. The rest, all yours,"
"I'll send someone tomorrow, Wolf King is back. He'll bring him to you,"
"Sure, bring them over."
The next day, the person arrived, quite quickly indeed.
Seeing so many potatoes and sweet potatoes, the visitor was also happy, finally relieving some of the food crisis. The base's food supply was running low, just waiting for the farm harvests.
Li Pan's farm was the first to harvest, while other farms had not yet started. This had a lot to do with whether Wood Power Users were willing to work hard.
Wood Power superpower users excelled, and when diligent, crops could mature one to two months in advance, grow particularly well, and yield abundantly. If one was lazy, such results would not be achieved.
Clearly, Li Pan had put significant effort into farm work; the potatoes and sweet potatoes were large and full, indeed very good.

"Great, weigh it accurately, and write me a note. Swipe it on Pan'er's mobile phone."
"The Wolf King and his wife and pups are all here."
"Wolf King, this is my farm. If you are willing to stay, we'll provide you with food and resources for your children's growth. If not, you can leave, and I'll find other animals,"
"There must be meat to eat, and enough of it. As my offspring advance their superpowers, you're responsible for their complete care. My family and I will watch and protect your property, ensuring wholehearted effort,"
The Wolf King was a high-level Gold Element superpower user, already capable of speaking human language. Many mutant animals evolving quickly possessing intelligence and the ability to speak was not strange.
"Deal. You can count on me. As long as I eat meat, you'll have your share too. You won't be taken advantage of. Just one condition: no betrayal or trickery. If you need something, just say it, and I'll do my utmost to meet it,"
"No problem."
The Wolf King was very clever; the year before last, he had been injured and humans had saved him. After careful consideration, he led his family back to the base to exert effort in fighting for the humans. He could clearly see the situation: if they didn't come, his children might not survive in the future. Natural disasters were gradually becoming less frequent, the Blood Moon had stabilized, and the animals' survival was becoming increasingly difficult. Taking refuge sooner might offer a chance for a livelihood.
His team was small, and there were mutant animals stronger than him still residing deep in the forest, which he couldn't defeat, so it was better to follow the humans and preserve his strength.
Including the Wolf King, there were a total of eight wolves: three she-wolves, two young male wolves who had just grown up, and two wolf cubs, still small, balled up no larger than the palm of a hand, only two months old.
"Brother, are they going to stay here from now on?"
"Yes, this is the Wolf King and his family."
"Do they have names?"
Li Pan looked at the Wolf King, very curious, especially fond of the wolf cubs, which looked like puppy cubs, fluffy and wobbling around adorably as they crawled.
"Wolves don't have names, just call me Wolf King. Having names or not is not important to us."
The Wolf King sat there, exuding an imposing aura, and those eyes were quite frightening.
"May I touch the cubs?"
The Wolf King did not object.
Li Pan excitedly grabbed the two cubs, petting them repeatedly, then turned back to the house to fetch two bowls of thin porridge with some chopped meat in it, raw, originally intended for cooking.
The little wolf cubs seeing the meat, grunted and ran over, their little butts wiggling as they walked, indescribably cute.
"May I name them?"
Li Pan looked at the Wolf King, knowing that he was an intelligent creature, so it was still necessary to respect their opinions.
"If you'd like to name them, go ahead."
The Wolf King didn't really care much about that.
The other wolves roamed around nearby, aware that this was their new home now. In fact, these few wolves could speak but were reluctant to, probably not eager to communicate too much with humans.
"Then you be called Yue Ying, and you be called Yue Xin."
The bigger male cub was named Yue Ying, with Fire Power, and the smaller female was called Yue Xin, with Space system Superpower, both were very outstanding.
"So cute."
Seeing Li Pan's fondness for the cubs, the Wolf King's gaze clearly softened, cooperating with the humans was also for the cubs to grow up.
"Where will you live? Do you need me to build a house for you?"
"We will stay in a cave, just dig us a cave."
"Sure, you choose the location, and I'll dig it for you."
Xue Dong readily agreed.
The beef cattle and sheep they requested were brought over by truck as well: two pairs of cattle, four piglets, and the sheep chosen were the best black-headed sheep, ten in total, both male and female.
The cattle and sheep were sent to the breeding area, given some water and forage to settle down for a couple of days before adjusting further.
Geese and ducks were also delivered, sent together to the breeding area to be raised. Qin Jianzhong and Xue Dong took turns guarding them, whoever was free would check on them.
The people from the base had also weighed the potatoes and sweet potatoes, left down the items Xue Dong needed, and then left without having a meal, in a hurry to get back.
The Wolf King personally chose a location, and Qin Jianzhong dug a rather large cave, enough for their whole family to live in.
They also laid down dry straw and reserved a place for a stove to be built with bricks, fearing that the cold winter days would be too harsh for the cubs to endure.
A stone pot and trough were left for storing water and meat as well.
Everything was well prepared, and the Wolf King was very satisfied, settling in with his family.
Li Pan liked the wolf cubs and wanted to take them to raise, but the Wolf King did not agree, allowing her to come over and see the cubs but not to take them away.
