Kapitel 196: Seraphimon

Amidst the god's fury, he spoke heavily, "I can go on with you all day."

In a fit of rage, Superman delivered a thunderous punch to the shield!

The full-force punch could shatter the dimensions of the world.

When it hit the shield, it created a surge of waves and impact that threw Steve Rogers backward.

He crashed to the ground, and despite using the shield for cushioning, he was still struck with blood pouring from his mouth and his bones emitting sharp cracking sounds.

Superman flew forward, looking down at Captain America from mid-air, his eyes faintly glowing red.

Steve coughed up blood, bracing himself on the ground, and looked up at Superman, struggling to stand.

But Superman's crimson heat vision was already descending from the sky towards him—

"No!!"

Soren, arriving just in time, grabbed the remaining half of the vibranium shield and used it to protect Steve.

The heat vision was deflected by the vibranium, reflecting at an acute angle and then shooting off into the air.

The redirected beams did not miss and struck the yellow lantern's prison, where the Hargreaves couple was held.

Soren's face twisted into an expression of sheer terror.

Time seemed to stretch infinitely in that moment.

The nearly ten thousand degrees Celsius heat vision would vaporize flesh upon contact.

He watched helplessly as the heat vision penetrated the cage.

His body moved instinctively before his mind could catch up, but as he saw the Hargreaves couple die before his eyes, he froze in a moment of frozen horror.

He suddenly couldn't hear anything anymore.

It was as if someone had pressed the mute button on his world.

All the colors and sounds drained away from his reality.

He could see no colors, hear not a single sound.

The only thing left in his vision was the shattered Yellow Lantern prison, the fragments of the Yellow Ring exploding like a cloud of dust scattered into the air, drifting down in front of him.

…The buzzing sound of a severed signal kept echoing in his eardrums.

He screamed, flying forward like a madman, his fingers desperately trying to grasp the scattered fragments of the prison in the air.

But the Yellow Lantern cage, once shattered, dissolved into fleeting rays of light, disappearing before his eyes.

He couldn't even hold onto a speck of dust.

He stretched out his arms, making a gesture as if trying to catch something, but he grasped at nothing.

All that fell into his embrace was the hollow sea breeze—like something slipping away with the wind… His soul.

His entire happiness.

Ah.

His entire… everything.

All the love he could ever possess.

In this world, he had struggled and fought bitterly, all for a single promise from Dr. Manhattan—a promise that he could have a family.

But now, he had nothing left.

What did he have left?

—Nothing.

He had lost everything.

First, he lost his Clark.

Then, he lost his friends.

His comrades.

His home.

Now, he had lost the last of what remained—his parents.

It was as if all his efforts had been nothing but a fleeting bubble, dew on the grass at dawn, a flash of lightning—disappearing in an instant.

The pain was so overwhelming that he couldn't even cry out.

True suffering, he realized, left no room for tears.

It was the kind of pain where gripping his chest only made him pound at his heart, a wordless agony that stripped him of all speech.

He revealed his true face, staring blankly as the Yellow Lantern's power faded away, as if his very soul had been lost.

Someone grabbed his arm, trying to pull him into an embrace.

Yet, it felt as if there was an invisible, thick barrier between them.

The touch of that person's skin felt unfamiliar, distant, and strange.

Soren turned his head, and what he saw was a face both familiar and foreign, a face that filled him with such fury and terror that he trembled uncontrollably.

"Why?" he questioned, his voice trembling, his expression blank, his eyes vacant. "Why did you take everything from me? You hate me, don't you? It's me you hate! Why, why—"

The other person's grip was as unyielding as iron, holding Soren's wrist, refusing to let him fall further.

But Soren thrashed violently, furiously struggling within the person's arms.

He was like an exile, driven to the edge of despair, lifting his head in defiance, questioning the gods with bitterness and hopelessness.

His body twisted into an agonizing posture, his ribs sharply outlined beneath his chest, "What did they do wrong? What did they do wrong?! You might as well kill me, Clark Kent!!!"

"Soren!"

The sun god roared in anguish, trying to hold this young man on the verge of collapse, but suddenly, a brilliant white light erupted from Soren's body, bright enough to sting Superman's eyes.

A waterfall of light cascaded from the sky.

Within this blinding, sacred radiance, both painful and divine, glowing streams seeped into Soren's skin, deep into his flesh and bones.

His body was being reshaped.

He screamed in unbearable pain, yet the massive tear across his once-perfect back visibly began to heal.

The light of evolution enveloped him completely.

The wings that should have never grown back burst forth from his flesh in rage.

New wings, like plants breaking through the earth, unfurled behind him one by one.

Ten silver wings gleamed with radiant gold light, heavy and impenetrable.

His entire body was now encased in thick, silver armor, leaving no part exposed.

His face, too, was hidden behind the helmet, concealing his emotions from the world.

Seraphimon—the ultimate angel, a being closest to God.

His massive form loomed as the light faded.

His ash-gray armored gauntlets clenched into fists, and he charged toward Superman.

The golden wings of Seraphimon flared behind him like sharp blades as he soared high in his heavy armor.

Superman, deliberately choosing not to dodge, took the full force of Seraphimon's punch and was sent flying.
