Kapitel 126: **Chapter 127: A Highly Motivated Mike **

"However, it's not just that Yahoo has ideas about Google; the major shareholders are also unlikely to sell that much Google stock. Acquiring it will be challenging."

"As for Netflix, although borrowing another 20 million or so from the bank would almost be enough to acquire it, buying Netflix would mean getting involved in the DVD sales and rental market, which would definitely provoke the hostility of the Big Seven."

"The remaining companies, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and Pixar Animation, are both excellent investment opportunities and wouldn't attract the Big Seven's backlash. However, I can use a loophole to acquire ILM under the pretense of special effects work, so there's no need to waste my liquid assets."

Wayne's gaze finally settled on the Pixar Animation report in his hand, a look of intrigued amusement crossing his face.

At this point, Pixar Animation was still in Steve Jobs' hands.

Though Wayne didn't particularly idolize Jobs as many others did, seeing him almost as a god-like figure, he couldn't deny that Jobs had shown incredible foresight and vision with his investments.

In 1986, Steve Jobs purchased ILM's animation department for $10 million, establishing Pixar Animation.

Now, over a decade later, with several highly successful collaborations with Disney, Pixar's market value had surpassed ILM, reaching an astounding $1.2 billion, a 120-fold increase—averaging eight times growth per year.

In the coming years, Pixar would release several more critically and commercially successful animated films, boosting its value further until Disney acquired it for $7 billion in 2006, with Jobs becoming Disney's largest individual shareholder with a 6.05% stake.

That would undoubtedly be another highly profitable deal.

Wayne also admired Jobs' comeback at Apple, leading the company out of crisis to achieve unprecedented success.

"If I hold onto the investment until 2004, it could at least triple, right?"

With this thought, Wayne no longer hesitated. He picked up the phone and called Sarah, informing her of his decision.

"Are you sure, Wayne? You really want to invest everything into Pixar Animation?"

"I'm sure!"

"Alright. But honestly, Wayne, I think you should consider hiring a new assistant."

Wayne glanced at a somewhat guilty-looking Hannah nearby and smiled, "Okay, I'll seriously consider your suggestion."

Sarah didn't say anything further and quickly got busy with the task. Thankfully, Mia was helping her manage the company's day-to-day operations; otherwise, balancing the company's daily affairs, the preparations for *Taken*, and handling Wayne's personal business would have overwhelmed her.

With the investment handled, Wayne finally had some time and peace of mind. He sipped the coffee the maid had just brought over and picked up the script for *Mean Girls*, which Tina Fey had sent him last night.

Seeing this, Hannah quickly got up and started massaging his shoulders in an attempt to win favor, which made Wayne smile inwardly.

Though Hannah wasn't the most competent assistant, and he did indeed need a new one, he wasn't planning on replacing her just yet.

Two hours later, Wayne finished the script, closed his eyes to think for a moment, then glanced at his watch. Seeing there was still some time before dinner, he picked up the phone and called Nancy Meyers.

"Hey, Nancy, hope I'm not interrupting?"

"So, you've seen the *Mean Girls* script, right? Do you think there's anything that needs changing?"

"Just a few small things, nothing major? Great! You can go over those with Tina. I think we should start auditions as soon as possible, given that the characters seem fine. What do you think?"

"Alright then, I'll get in touch with Melanie."

After hanging up, Wayne called Melanie Sloan.

"Hey, Melanie. Nancy and I have gone through the script, and there are no major issues. How about on your end?"

"Oh? The location scouting is already done? That fast?"

"Great, then let's get ready for auditions soon."

Having confirmed that Melanie Sloan's side was all set, Wayne made one last call to Mike.

Even though Melanie's team had casting directors, Wayne was responsible for selecting the lead roles, and he wanted to give Mike's clients a chance for supporting roles as a reward for his hard work.

This had already been discussed with Melanie Sloan when Hemera Pictures signed with her. Given that Hemera was a major company, Melanie didn't dare raise any objections.

"Thanks, Wayne! I really appreciate this opportunity. But with so many roles, I'm not sure I can handle it all by myself."

"No worries. You can also reach out to other agents you're friendly with. My only requirement is to fill the roles as quickly as possible while staying true to the character designs."

"Got it, Wayne! Don't worry, I'll move fast!"

Excited, Mike hung up the phone and downed a large mug of espresso in one gulp. Then, he called in his assistant, ready to pull an all-nighter.

There was no other option. While the location scouting for *Mean Girls* was relatively straightforward—just a house, a suburban home, a small mall, and a regular public high school building—the casting was a different story.

The film's core storyline revolves around the protagonist, Cady, who was raised in Africa and becomes influenced by a group of bad girls at her new school, transforming into a "mean girl" herself before rediscovering her kind-hearted nature.

This transformation required a wide range of characters to influence and contrast with Cady.

Aside from the male lead Aaron, the three "mean girls," and the protagonist's friends Janis and Damian, there were eight or nine important supporting characters with substantial screen time and dialogue, including the school principal Mr. Duvall, math teacher Ms. Norbury, and Regina's mom, Mrs. George.

Additionally, because *Mean Girls* is a high school comedy, a large number of extras were also needed.

Selecting and contacting all these actors in a short period was no small task for Mike, but the rewards would be significant once it was done.
