Just as Tingyun attempted to sneak a glance, Su Jinyan raised his hand and blocked her view. "Oh, little fox," he chided without looking up from his work, "you should know better than to pry where it's not polite."

Tingyun's eyes softened, and she couldn't resist throwing herself into Su Jinyan's arms, cooing seductively, "Aiya, Benefactor~"

"With such beauty in your embrace, can't you set aside those trivial matters for a moment and spare some attention for this humble maiden?"

Su Jinyan slowly closed his notebook. "How could they be considered trivial?" he replied. "You have no idea what I've done on your behalf."

Tingyun's playful flirtation broke countless hearts among the foxtolk secretly watching them.

The nerve! Miss Tingyun had already initiated such affectionate teasing, yet he still dared to act so arrogant?

O great Emperor's Bow of Fate, please swiftly send an arrow to end this man's life.

Tingyun, her smile radiant, leaned close to his ear and whispered softly, "Of course I know."

"The elite cloud riders who appeared that night must have been due to Benefactor, right?"

"Benefactor, don't deny it—it was surely because you struck some private deal with the general."

Su Jinyan remained silent.

Continuing to breathe gently into his ear, Tingyun murmured, "I witnessed it firsthand, you see."

"Those nefarious Disciples of Sanctus Medicus tried to assassinate me."

"But every time they charged, the cloud-mounted elite drove them back relentlessly."

"Only one cultivator managed to breach their ranks, but he didn't anticipate my mechanical arm as protection."

"I wonder what went through his mind when he was sent flying by the arm."

Unable to suppress a laugh, Su Jinyan admitted, "So, I couldn't hide it from you after all."

"People often say foxfolk are intelligent, eloquent, and persuasive. I can't speak for others, but you, little fox, are indeed the cleverest I've ever met."

Tingyun's eyes sparkled warmly as she replied, "Oh, Benefactor, there are times when I'm not so smart either."

"Just like how, in matters of love, being a bit dim-witted might make a girl more endearing."

"Indeed, I also understand the wisdom of turning a blind eye sometimes," Tingyun added coyly.

"Hm?" Su Jinyan lifted his face, a hint of unease flickering across his expression.

With swift precision, Tingyun raised her delicate, ivory-like hand and gently tilted his chin upward. Before Su Jinyan could react, her soft, red lips brushed against his in a tentative kiss.

Seeing no clear resistance from him, she immediately deepened it into a passionate embrace, leaving onlookers stunned with shattered composure.

After what felt like an eternity, their lips parted.

Tingyun smiled faintly, tears inadvertently welling at the corners of her eyes. "Benefactor, have you ever considered this question? What if, after treating me so kindly, I become unable to leave your side?"

"And then, should you fall for another woman, what would happen to me?"

"Tingyun, I—"

She placed a tender finger softly on his lips, hushing him. "Shh, don't say anything."

"Benefactor, consider this my gift to you. Are you satisfied?"

Su Jinyan remained silent, pulling Tingyun closer instead. Since she had taken the initiative, he certainly wasn't going to refuse.

In his arms, Tingyun's delicate body trembled slightly. After enduring multiple assassination attempts, it was understandable that she must feel deeply unsettled.

This indicated that Tingyun deeply desired him to clarify their relationship.

However, precisely because of this, he couldn't take the initiative to commit to her.

Qingque had once taught him the secret to enjoying work: "Never initiate, never refuse, and never assume responsibility."

Su Jinyan believed this principle applied equally well to romance, allowing for both fulfilling work and joyful relationships without compromise.

In matters of love, emotions should not escalate too rapidly; when they become intense, it's necessary to provide appropriate cooling-off periods, and conversely, if they cool down excessively, gentle warming is required.

Understanding the art of push-and-pull, prolonging the phase of ambiguity, and gradually nurturing feelings benefits everyone involved.

Tingyun gently bit her lip, turning her slightly flushed face away, her soft and fluffy tail tensed, while her delicate body continued trembling.

Ah, being highly sensitive has its drawbacks - even slight stimulation makes her...

Assuming Tingyun was still frightened, Su Jinyan couldn't help but wipe away the tears at the corner of her eyes.

"Tingyun, don't be afraid." He kissed her softly on the lips.

"This is just the appetizer, the main act is yet to come. No one will harm you now. As for those who tried to hurt you, I'll settle accounts with them slowly."

Tingyun buried her lovely face in his embrace, her trembling becoming more pronounced.

"Um...this humble one...is not afraid for her own safety..." Tingyun hesitated before continuing, "This humble one fears, fears, oh... Benefactor might secretly undertake foolish risks..."

Su Jinyan found Tingyun's behavior today somewhat peculiar.

Why was this little fox speaking so haltingly?

"Don't worry too much," he reassured her. "Unless an Emanator personally arrives, there is currently no one at Luofu who can truly harm me."

"I've already taken care of those threats causing you distress."

"You can continue your work without concern from now on. If you have free time, feel free to visit me at the Grand Diviner's library."

"However, I may not always be there, so make sure to schedule an appointment beforehand, understood?"

Tingyun's face flushed bright red as she visibly relaxed. "Benefactor, you truly are one of the busiest individuals in the Divination Commission."

Unnoticed by anyone, a young woman sat in a corner of the teahouse. With her striking and enigmatic beauty, coupled with elegant yet aloof demeanor, she overheard:

"Benefactor, you truly are one of the busiest individuals in the Divination Commission..."

The young woman waved her round fan, a playful smile gracing her lips.

Though it was the same phrase, their intentions behind it were entirely different.

Despite sitting in a corner of the teahouse with her striking appearance and captivating aura, not a single man approached her. Strangely, no one seemed to notice her presence, and throughout the entire time, nobody else occupied the seat beside her.

At that moment, Su Jinyan heard a narration's voice:

["Did you know? A priest's Dispersion Spell is non-targeted, meaning it can be cast without locking onto a specific target."]

["The Dispersion Spell has only a certain probability of removing beneficial effects from enemies."]

["If there's a significant gap between your strength and that of your enemy, the success rate of the Dispersion Spell drops to an extremely low level."]

["Now, try casting a Dispersion Spell towards the table at nine o'clock relative to your position, in the corner of the teahouse."]

["Remember to keep smiling, and regardless of what you see, do not show any surprise."]

Without hesitation, Su Jinyan followed these instructions. The corners of his mouth curved slightly upwards as he raised his hand and cast a Dispersion Spell in the indicated direction.

Phantylia momentarily froze, confusion and bewilderment flickering in her beautiful eyes.

Has my flawless disguise been exposed?
