Kapitel 98: Shadows of loss

The tension was suffocating, each breath heavy with the anticipation of violence. The beast shifted, its hulking form coiling as shadows swirled around it. Then, with a guttural roar, it slammed its claws into the ground. A massive wall of shadows erupted around the defenders, enclosing them in an inescapable dome of darkness.

Behind them, Bryce and his group were left isolated, their distant shouts muffled as the oppressive barrier cut off all sound.

"We're trapped!" Jareth growled, his knuckles tightening around his weapon.

Nessa wasted no time, her blade glowing as she channeled mana into it. With a shout, she slashed at the wall, pouring all her strength into the strike. The blade connected, but instead of shattering, the wall absorbed the blow, rippling like a pool of water before becoming solid once more.

"It's like it ate the momentum," she muttered, her frustration palpable.
