My phone rang just as I was about to finish work. I took it and saw that it was Olivia calling me. I quickly pressed the accept button, and the call was connected instantly.

“Char, let’s go to a bar and drink tonight!” Livie's cheerful voice sounded from the phone’s receiver.

“Livie... I don't feel too good today. I don't think I have the mood to go out,” I told her.

Livie was silent for two seconds before her concern-with-a-tinge-of-anger voice sounded, “Char, what happened? Did that bastard Hayden bother you again? Or did Theo do something ungentlemanly to you?”

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She didn't ask whether I was sick or injured but deduced straight away that it must be a guy problem. She knew me too well.

“No, it wasn't either of them. It was Alpha Marcus,” I bit out.

“Alpha Marcus? Hayden’s dad?” Her voice rose up a notch in disbelief.

“Yup, the one and only,” I smiled bitterly.
