Kapitel 41: Daredevil's Distress!!!

In Lynch's apartment, two people were lying on the bed, holding each other, completely unclothed.

Karen, with her face still flushed, lay on Lynch's chest, the remnants of their wildness still evident in her expression.

After a long while, she opened her eyes and hesitantly spoke:

"Lynch, I think we should stop pursuing this matter. Those people are too dangerous..."

Lynch glanced at her, knowing that last night's events had shaken her deeply, and comforted her:

"Don't worry, I'll protect you..."

Just as Karen was about to say more, Lynch's phone rang beside the bed.

He frowned and picked it up.

Very few people should know this number.

"Hello?"

"Lynch, help me... I'm at..."

It was Daredevil's voice!

Lynch's face changed — a call for help from Daredevil?

"I'm heading out for a bit!"

With that, Lynch quickly got dressed and rushed out the door.

...

Three minutes later, Lynch arrived at the location Daredevil had mentioned.

He extended his senses, searching for Daredevil.

After a moment, his face darkened.

He found Daredevil, but Daredevil's condition was bad.

In his urgency, Lynch flew straight toward Daredevil, not caring about being seen.

At that moment, Daredevil was hiding in a dark corner of the street. Sirens blared all around as many police officers searched the area nervously.

Daredevil's face was wrapped in bandages, and he clutched his bleeding chest, gasping weakly.

After obtaining some critical information last night, Daredevil hadn't taken care of his injuries and instead began working on the documents needed for the case.

But as he was immersed in his work, he suddenly heard numerous footsteps approaching his home.

Then came a knock at his door.

He naturally assumed it was Kingpin's men, so he opened the door and fought back immediately.

Unexpectedly, it was the police!

After knocking out the two officers at the door, a large group of police officers arrived, trying to arrest him.

Unable to fight back, he fled.

His injuries slowed him down, and a bullet had grazed his left chest.

As he ran, exhausted and injured, Daredevil realized what was happening.

Some of these police officers had been bought by Kingpin!

With no other option, he called Lynch for help.

Now sitting against the wall, Daredevil heard the police getting closer, but he was too weak to move.

His breathing grew heavier, as if the oxygen in the air was thinning, and his strength was draining away with his blood.

He couldn't hold on... he was about to pass out...

"Hey, are you dead?"

Lynch slapped Daredevil across the face, snapping him back to consciousness.

"One more slap and maybe I would be."

Daredevil weakly responded.

"Hold still, let me take care of this."

Lynch tore open Daredevil's shirt and used his heat vision to cauterize the wound, stopping the bleeding.

As they talked, several police officers spotted them and immediately called for backup.

"Both of you! Hands on your heads, down on the ground!"

The police shouted from a distance.

Lynch stopped his heat vision, giving the officers a calm look.

"Can you tell how many of them work for Kingpin?"

He asked Daredevil coldly.

"A lot."

Daredevil replied with a complicated tone.

"Most of them have some connection..."

"I see."

Lynch interrupted Daredevil.

"Give me a minute, I'll take you to the hospital."

With that, Lynch rushed toward the officers.

A minute later, all the police officers were on the ground.

Lynch lifted Daredevil, his eyes scanning the area.

Something felt off.

But he didn't have time to dwell on it. He needed to get Daredevil to the hospital quickly.

...

Half an hour after Lynch left, Karen received a phone call. She went out and arrived at a café.

Now, Karen sat there, troubled, across from a woman who was crying her heart out.

"Karen, you know how I've treated you at work."

The woman tightly gripped Karen's hand, sobbing as she spoke.

"Tell me, if it weren't for me, would you even have a place to live?"

She stared at Karen, playing on her emotions:

"If you go through with suing the boss, the company will be finished! We'll all lose our jobs. What good will that do us?"

Seeing Karen stay silent, the woman pulled out a check from her bag and placed it on the table, trying to persuade her:

"The boss said he's realized his mistake and sent me to apologize on his behalf, along with this check as compensation."

She watched Karen's expression carefully, sensing that she might agree, and pushed the check closer to her.

"Karen, take a look! This is a five-million-dollar check! How long would it take you to earn that?"

Karen's expression wavered as she picked up the check and glanced at it before setting it back down.

As the woman continued talking, Karen's inner conflict grew stronger.

In truth, Karen didn't want to pursue the matter further.

She had no grand pursuit of justice unless disaster struck her directly — she was just an ordinary person.

A woman who barely managed to live with dignity in New York.

That kind of pursuit of justice was a luxury for people who had their basic needs met.

What she wanted was simply a stable, peaceful life.

But now, with Lynch in her life, that peace and stability were gone forever.

Should she continue, or should she let it go?

In the end, she picked up the check.

...

"Ulrich! Come to my office!"

Upon hearing his supervisor's call, Ulrich entered the office.

"Are you still investigating that Daredevil?"

The supervisor got straight to the point.

"Yes, and I've recently made some new discoveries!"

Ulrich excitedly responded.

"Forget it!"

The supervisor waved his chubby hand and smirked.

"We already have something."

He placed a file on the desk.

Ulrich, confused, opened the file. His expression changed drastically after a few glances.

"What is this supposed to mean?"

Ulrich looked incredulous.

Inside the file were photos of police chasing Daredevil and Lynch taking down police officers.

"Daredevil and Superboy battling the police! Surprised?"

The supervisor sneered.

"Don't worry about where this came from. Since you know Daredevil well, you're the one to write this article!"

He stood up and patted Ulrich on the shoulder, encouraging him with expectation:

"I'm sure you can write it well! I want this report in two hours!"

Ulrich's eyes widened, and he protested:

"This has to be fake. They wouldn't do something like this. Something must have gone wrong!"

The supervisor shook his head, speaking in a knowing tone:

"Whether it's real or fake doesn't matter to us. All we care about is sales."

Seeing Ulrich's odd reaction, the supervisor took the file from his hand and placed it back on the desk.

"Ulrich, if you don't write it, someone else will. It's your choice."

With that, the supervisor leaned back in his chair, watching Ulrich closely.

"Fine, I'll write it."
