Kapitel 233: Chapter 233: A Feast Every Day, and the Third Hokage Can’t Take It Anymore

Pfft!

One glance at the bill, and the Third Hokage nearly choked on his tea.

Something wasn't right. Did they make a mistake with the total? How on earth does a barbecue meal cost several hundred thousand ryō? Is the meat plated with gold or something?

"Hokage-sama, there's no mistake in the bill. Tsunade-sama didn't eat much herself, but she took a lot of it to go—about a hundred servings of our special marinated meat. She said she'd take it home and eat it slowly. Now, a lot of our regular customers can't even order because we're out of stock."

"...."

After dismissing the messenger, the Third Hokage's hands trembled.

"Immediately—no, right now, bring Tsunade to me. Either she comes to see me, or I'll go find her myself!!"

In just half a day, Tsunade had already spent tens of millions of ryō. If this continued, who knows what might happen next?

By having all the bills sent directly to the Hokage's office, Tsunade was making her stance clear: If you won't deal with the issue, fine, I'll make you pay.

The Third Hokage had been reluctant to confront the matter for two reasons. First, Konoha genuinely didn't have a lot of liquid funds at the moment. Second, Tsunade's reputation as a compulsive gambler meant she had accumulated a massive amount of debt. But until now, no one had dared to send her bills straight to the Hokage's office.

This time, Tsunade had decided to let loose completely.

She's a real spender, the Third Hokage thought with a shudder, looking at the growing pile of bills. No matter how much wealth you had, it would never be enough to keep up with Tsunade's spending habits.

"Tsunade bought us a house?"

"That's awesome! I've been sick of this rundown place for ages—rats, bugs everywhere, freezing in the winter and suffocating in the summer. Finally, we'll get to live in a proper house!"

Kushina jumped up in excitement, while Takuya stood there in disbelief.

Their current living conditions really were terrible. The house wasn't great, and even after Kushina had helped renovate it, the place was still barely holding together.

Now that they were moving, Kushina couldn't contain her joy.

As Konoha's top young wealthy kunoichi, it was absurd that Kushina had been living in a rundown place. People who didn't know might have thought she was stingy.

"Pack up your things! We're moving right now, and tonight we're having a barbecue—eat as much as you want!"

It's easy to be generous when you're not the one paying. Tsunade's declaration was filled with confidence and swagger.

Takuya didn't have much to pack, but Kushina and Tsunade had so much stuff that they had to hire carriages to move it all.

So, Takuya and Minato went ahead to check out the new place.

"Holy..."

Minato was floored by the sight of the massive villa in front of him.

Could I ever afford a place like this? Minato wondered, mentally counting the savings in his little wallet.

If it were possible, he would love to live next to Takuya, but unfortunately, his budget couldn't handle it. These houses were just too expensive.

A villa costing a few million ryō was far beyond Minato's means. Even if he sold himself, he couldn't afford one.

"There are smaller places nearby, though. Around a few hundred thousand ryō should be enough. If you're interested, we can check it out tomorrow."

Minato definitely couldn't afford millions, but a few hundred thousand? That was more doable.

Assuming, of course, that he could get the Third Hokage to help cover the costs.

Based on his past missions' earnings alone, Minato figured he couldn't even scrape together a hundred thousand.

And that was with him being frugal. If it were Nawaki, forget a hundred thousand—he'd struggle to save even ten thousand.

Having a sister who constantly "borrowed" his pocket money was a tough life.

Tsunade, on the other hand, wasn't fazed by the cost. She had blown through the equivalent of Asuma's bounty in a single day.

Minato, scratching his head, wondered, "I've heard the village is having some financial difficulties lately. Do you think it's a good idea to ask the Hokage for money now?"

Currently, Minato didn't need to exchange his merit points for jutsu, so he could technically exchange them for cash. But the question was, did the village even have the money? Or, more importantly, would the Third Hokage be willing to give it up?

"No problem, I'll lend you the money. Just pay me back later," Takuya said, patting Minato on the shoulder with a grin.

"Deal!" Minato replied excitedly.

A few hundred thousand ryō? With some effort, he could definitely pay that back. Once the village's finances loosened up, he'd get the money in no time.

Don't underestimate how quickly a ninja can earn. Though the expenses are high, so are the earnings, especially for someone like Minato, who didn't have many expenses.

Once everything was sorted and the place was cleaned up, Takuya's move was complete.

Meanwhile, Kushina, ever the big spender, had hired people to move her things, clean the new place, and even organize her personal belongings. She didn't lift a finger.

All she had to do was manage a few private items, and everything else was taken care of.

"Where's Tsunade?" Takuya asked, noticing her absence as Kushina happily set up a grill in the villa's garden.

Kushina giggled. "Tsunade-nee got called in by the Hokage after all that spending. She's probably going to get yelled at."

No surprise there. The Third Hokage must have had a heart attack after seeing Tsunade blow through millions of ryō in a single day.

"Well, no need to wait for her. Once Mikoto gets here, we can start eating. We'll save some for Nawaki so he doesn't miss out."

"But can Nawaki even eat barbecue?"

"No worries," Takuya reassured her, patting Kushina's head.

"Don't underestimate the Senju clan's ability to recover. Sure, they're not as extreme as the Uzumaki, but they're still strong enough to handle a little barbecue."

"Tsunade, what do you think you're doing?"

The moment Tsunade arrived at the Hokage's office, the usually calm Third Hokage was practically shouting at her, clearly furious.

"Stop yelling," Tsunade said, nonchalantly picking at her ear.

"The Senju estate has been empty for years, and the houses are old. What, I'm not allowed to buy a new place?"

It was a perfectly reasonable excuse.

The Third Hokage's anger deflated a little. It was true—the Senju estate had fallen into disrepair over the years. Now that the clan had mostly assimilated into the general population, only Tsunade and Nawaki remained.

They didn't even use the Senju name anymore. So, Tsunade buying a new place wasn't unreasonable. The Hokage couldn't exactly argue with her logic.

"But did you really need to buy three houses?"

Damn it, who built these villas, charging millions of ryō each? You might as well be robbing people!

And even worse, Tsunade hadn't just bought one—she bought three! Not even the Third Hokage had the guts to pull something like that.

"Yeah," Tsunade replied lazily, filing her nails as she sat in her chair. "One for me, and one for Nawaki."

"He's getting older, you know. He can't live with me forever, can he? It'd be inconvenient. Don't you think?"

"..."

Fine. You've got a point.

"But what's the deal with the third house?"

"Oh, that one's for Kushina. Did you forget about her? She's practically my sister! I've been so busy with village affairs that I haven't had time to take care of her. Buying her a house is the least I could do, right?"

Pfft—

The Third Hokage almost spit up blood.

Her reasoning was sound, but did Kushina really need Tsunade to buy her a house?

Kushina could sell a chunk of Konoha and still have enough houses to move into a different one every day for a year.

Did she really need Tsunade's help?
