After saying this, he immediately took off, flying close to the ground toward the marked location.
"Go notify some superhumans who can control without taking lives! I suspect..."
Nina, a member of the Patrol Division, spoke into her phone while fending off a group of increasingly aggressive people.
Despite her shouting into her phone for quite some time, Lianmu hadn't responded, leaving her feeling uncertain about what was going on.
"Damn... I might need to call for backup. You better hurry up."
She muttered to herself, wiping blood from the corner of her mouth, raising her gun for a precision shot at one person's foot.
However, the warning shots weren't effective.
Nina's ability was precision shooting—highly lethal in long-range combat or assassinations.
But this time was different. She faced ordinary citizens who had been bewitched by the power of a god, requiring her to restrain them without harming them.
This restriction hampered her abilities, causing her to be continually pushed back.
Crack! Clang!
A sharp crack echoed, followed by blood splattering.
One of the bewitched civilians grabbed a nearby streetlamp and bit into it with his teeth.
Several teeth shattered from the impact.
But the person, devoid of any pain or reason due to the bewitchment, continued to grip the pole, swinging it around until it snapped the 20-centimeter-diameter streetlamp in half!
"Ahhh!"
Screaming maniacally, saliva and blood flying from his mouth, the man lifted the lamp post, swinging it at Nina.
True, a 20-centimeter-thick steel pole!
Nina jumped, narrowly dodging the pole, but the ground beneath her erupted into a crater from the impact.
The bewitched man, wielding the lamp post like a windmill, swung it madly, striking at Nina.
Other civilians followed suit, yanking out streetlights to use as weapons, attacking Nina indiscriminately.
On the deserted street, lamp posts, each seven to eight meters long and twenty centimeters thick, were being swung at Nina, who was struggling to dodge.
Eventually, one post smashed into her chest after she sidestepped, narrowly missing her.
This blow only added to her already sore and tender chest!
Boom!
With a loud crash, Nina flew backward, embedding herself into a wall.
"Ugh!" She spat out a mouthful of blood, ignoring the burning pain in her internal organs. She looked up to see another lamp post coming at her.
The third post was descending toward her head.
Clenching her teeth, Nina raised her arms and closed her eyes, bracing to take the blow.
Suddenly, she felt herself lifted into the air by a gust of wind, landing back on the ground moments later.
Opening her eyes, she saw the post shatter just in front of her, a tall, shaky young man standing beside her.
Lianmu had arrived quickly.
"You finally came!" Nina said with difficulty, a mix of relief and surprise in her voice. Looking around, she asked, "Where's everyone else? Did you come alone? Watch out!"
As she spoke, Nina noticed another giant post descending toward Lianmu, who seemed oblivious.
Lianmu moved effortlessly, stepping a meter to the side, and the post crashed down where he had been standing. He looked as though he had just gotten lucky.
"Yeah, it's just me. Why? Are you okay? Are these god servants really that hard to deal with?"
"These aren't god servants; they're ordinary citizens! We can't harm them!" Nina corrected, before asking, "What department are you from?"
"Me? I'm from the PR Department."
???
Nina's face froze, her relief turning to anger.
Grabbing Lianmu's arm, she pulled him aside, jumping out of the battle circle.
"What's wrong with you? You're from the PR Department and came here alone? Do you have a death wish?" she shouted.
"You need to leave now! I can't protect you here. This isn't a joke."
"Call for backup immediately! I can hold out a bit longer, but we need people with control abilities!"
She pushed Lianmu away, raising her guns to resume the fight.
Seeing her stance, Lianmu scratched his nose.
It seemed that the academy didn't think highly of the PR Department.
But considering the behavior of Jack, the department head, it was understandable.
"You're saying we need to control them without harming them, right?"
Lianmu realized it was a misunderstanding and stepped forward to ask.
"Just go! I can't protect you!"
But Nina suddenly fell silent.
In the blink of an eye, everything around her was covered in frost.
Madness still on their faces, the civilians had turned into a field of ice sculptures, complete with their lamp posts, which now looked somewhat artistic.
"I tried to control the temperature to avoid severe injury. They might suffer some frostbite, but it shouldn't be fatal," Lianmu explained, spreading his hands.
Nina stood silent for a moment before murmuring, "Since when did the PR Department have this kind of combat power?
Am I dreaming?..."
Lianmu was about to ask about the points system when his phone buzzed with multiple messages, including one from Yogurt Stick.
"Yogurt Stick: Did you hear? Something's going down near Eastern Academy. A lot of civilians are acting like they've been bewitched by gods.
It's suspected to be part of an organized effort, with god servants behind it.
But this time, don't go out looking on your own. If necessary, stick with the academy people. Something's not right here."
Reading this message, Lianmu frowned.
Honestly, he had long been suspicious of Yogurt Stick's true identity.
