"It's been forever since I last saw you, Jessica," I remarked dryly as I walked into my house and spotted her in the winery, helping herself to a bottle. She only laughed lightly in response. "You're the same person who insisted on working for my company—the one I went out of my way to set up an entire space for—and then you vanished without a word."
Still smiling, she handed me a glass of wine. "I've already asked your cook to prepare dinner for us," she said, clearly amused. "You don't mind, do you?"
"It's fine," I replied, though I wasn't sure if Renee would want to have dinner with me tonight. She had been spending a lot of time with Adan and his brother recently. "I'll just head upstairs to change and be back in a bit."
With a nod, she waved me off, encouraging me to hurry.
