The first light of dawn filtered through the smoke-filled sky as Company 8 stood amidst the wreckage. The factory had been reduced to charred ruins, with the remains of the Infernal buried beneath the rubble. Kazuki, though tired, felt a sense of satisfaction. The battle had been intense, but they had come out on top.
Captain Obi surveyed the scene, his face set in a grim expression. "We managed to prevent a disaster, but we need to investigate how this happened. This wasn't just an ordinary Infernal. Something's not right here."
Kazuki's attention shifted to the debris around them. Pieces of machinery lay scattered, and the air still carried the acrid stench of burnt chemicals. The battle had been more dangerous than usual, but rather than fear, Kazuki felt a sense of curiosity. He wondered if the environment had somehow affected the Infernal's power.
"Captain," Kazuki spoke up, his tone steady, "if there's anything I can do to help with the investigation, just let me know."
Obi looked at him with a nod of appreciation. "I appreciate the offer, Kazuki. But you've done more than enough for today. Get some rest. We'll need everyone at their best when we start digging into this."
Kazuki nodded, though his thoughts lingered on the battle. His synchronization with Yamamoto's template had increased by 3 percent after the fight. He could feel the subtle enhancement in his abilities, a deeper connection to the power he wielded. This growth wasn't something that worried him—in fact, it felt natural, like stepping closer to his true potential.
As the team began to pack up their equipment, Kazuki wandered through the wreckage, letting his mind process the events of the day. His thoughts were interrupted by Shinra, who jogged over with a smile. "Hey, Kazuki, you okay? You seem deep in thought."
Kazuki returned the smile, his mood lightened by the camaraderie. "Just thinking about the fight. It was intense, but I'm glad we pulled through."
Shinra nodded. "You were amazing out there. That fire spell you used was something else."
"Thanks," Kazuki replied, feeling a sense of pride. "I'm still getting used to everything, but it feels like I'm getting stronger each time."
Shinra grinned. "That's what it's all about. We've got your back, and you've got ours. We'll get through whatever comes our way."
Kazuki nodded, the weight of responsibility not as heavy as before. He knew he was growing stronger, and he was confident in his ability to control and use that strength effectively.
