Chapter 14: Bye Bye Psyduck

(Today, after traveling across the Orange Islands.)

(Mew and her friends decide to take a break for a little rest and relaxation.)

(Misty is splashing in the water with some of her Water Pokemon.)

(Pikachu and Eevee, Meloetta and Skwovet.)

(Togepi, Pichu, Golduck, and Psyduck, are riding on Lapras' back.)

(Tracey and Tomo are relaxing in the sand.)

(Mew is giving the mysterious GS ball a little polish.)

(Out in the water, Pikachu and the other Pokemon are having fun while Psyduck is sleeping on Lapras' back and Golduck sits beside him.)

(Suddenly, Psyduck slips into the water.)

(Lapras ends up swimming away without realizing it.)

(Psyduck continues to sleep while floating on the water, until he rolls over and sinks.)

(Golduck jumps off and swims after him.)

(Moments later, the Pokemon begin to freak out.)

(realizing that both Psyduck and Golduck are gone, and everyone begins to notice.)

(Tracey sits up and wonders.)

Tracey: "What's going on?"

(Then everyone rushes over.)

Mew: "What's the matter, guys?"

(Mew asks.)

(When they arrive, Tracey notices.)

Tracey: "Seems like something's missing, doesn't it?

Mew: "You're right, Tracey,"

(Mew says.)

(Misty is the first to realize.)

Misty: "Oh no! My Psyduck and Golduck are gone!"

(Meanwhile, there is a young girl with long blue, purple eyes, with a pink outfit in a boat fishing.)

(She is with a Tentacruel who is swimming beside her.)

(The girl says.)

???: "It's awfully quiet today."

(Just then, something begins to come up to the surface near the boat and the girl's tentacruel.)

(The first is Psyduck who is in a panic because he can't really swim well.)

(Luckily he is saved by Golduck, much to his relief.)

(The girl is confused by what she has witnessed.)

(Meanwhile, Mew and her friends have sent their Water Pokemon to search for Psyduck.)

(So far, no luck.)

(Misty asks.)

Misty: "No sign of Psyduck? Or Golduck?"

(The Pokemon answers.)

(Misty and the Pokemon are worried.)

Mew: "Don't feel bad, you all did the best you could."

(Mew says, and gets Lapras's Pokeball.)

Mew: "Lapras, take a rest!"

(Then recalls Lapras to his Pokeball.)

Mew: "I'm sure Psyduck and Golduck are okay. They couldn't have gone too far."

(Mew says.)

Tomo: "But where could Psyduck and Golduck have gone off to?"

(Tomo wonders.)

(Suddenly, they hear a girl's voice.)

???: "Excuse me."

(The group turns to see the young girl who's been fishing earlier.)

(The girl says.)

???: "You wouldn't be looking for this, would you?"

(Then Tentacruel swims in with Psyduck in one of its tentacles while Golduck is on Tentacruel's head.)

(Everyone becomes shocked.)

Misty speaks up, "Psyduck! Golduck!"

(Everyone soon begins to notice that Psyduck's tail is glowing pink.)

(Later, the girl brings the two Pokemon to shore.)

(Psyduck and Golduck are glad to be with Misty.)

(Soon, the group are getting acquainted with each other.)

(Misty says to the girl.)

Misty: "Thanks a lot for finding Psyduck for me. These are my friends, Mew, Tracey, and Tomo. My name's Misty.

(Then the girl introduces herself.)

Marina: "My name's Marina."

(Then Marina kneels down to see Psyduck's pink tail.)

(Then says to Misty.)

Marina: "I'm not sure, but from the way its tail is glowing, I'd say your Psyduck's getting ready to evolve."

Mew: "Evolve?"

(Mew says, sounding unsure.)

(Then Marina says.)

Marina: "A Pokémon trainer told me. She said sometimes, before they evolve, a Psyduck's tail starts to glow pink, just like this is."

(Misty turns to Psyduck.)

Misty: "So, are you ready to evolve, Psyduck?"

Psyduck: "duck?" (Evolve?)

(Psyduck says, confused.)

Tomo: "I guess Psyduck would evolve into a Golduck, right Mew?"

(Tomo asks, turning to Mew.)

Mew: "That's right,"

(Mew says.)

(She brings out her Pokedex, and Dexter says.)

Dexter: "Golduck, the Duck Pokémon. The evolved form of Psyduck. A Water Type. Golduck is very adept at using its webbed at using its webbed hands and feet, making it the fastest swimming Pokémon of all."

Tomo: "Wow. Golduck sounds like a really cool Pokemon, huh, Misty?"

(Tomo replies, turning to Misty.)

(Misty and Marina happily say.)

Misty and Marina: "Golduck is one of my very favorite Pokémon!"

(Both girls gasp in surprise.)

(Then Misty says.)

Misty: "You sound like you know a lot about Water Pokemon, Marina.

Marina: "Well, that's because I'm a trainer and I specialize in training Water Pokémon."

(Marina says.)

Misty: "Really? Me too!"

(Misty says, really amazed.)

(Marina happily says.)

Marina: "No way! Why didn't you say so?"

(Then begins to happily express her love for Water Pokemon.)

Marina: "I just love the way water Pokémon can float and swim and dive and surf and squirt!"

Misty: "I know! I know! Don't you love the cute way they waddle around?"

(Misty happily says.)

(As they talk, the group look a bit dumbfounded.)

Mew: "I guess they like talking about water Pokémon."

(Mew says.)

Tracey: "From my observations, I'd say that's true."

(Tracey replies.)

(The Pokemon agree.)

Marina: "Here, look at these,"

(Marina happily says.)

(She then brings out her small box, and opens it to reveal her lures.)

Marina: "I never buy my Pokemon lures, I always make them myself."

(Then shows Misty her special fishing lure that looks just like her.)

Misty: "I make all my lures, too. And this is my most beautiful one!"

(Then Marina happily says.)

Marina: "Maybe someday, I'll capture one of the legendary Pokemon."

Misty: "I'd love the chance to catch one of the dragon types that live in the ocean!"

(Misty happily says.)

Marina: "You think we could do it?"

(Marina asks.)

Misty: "I sure hope so,"

(Misty says.)

(Just then, Marina says.)

Marina: "But there's one thing I don't understand."

Misty: "What?"

(Misty replies.)

(Then Marina asks.)

Marina: "How come your Psyduck doesn't know how to swim?"

(Hearing the question, Misty begins to stammer and try to come up with a reason.)

Tomo: "I was wondering about that myself,"

(Tomo says.)

Mew: "Well Psyduck has always been a special case."

(Mew says.)

Tracey: "Let's watch and see how she gets herself out of this one."

(Tracey says.)

(After thinking, Misty laughs nervously and says.)

Misty: "Yeah, it sure is a rare Psyduck, like Mew said. Psyduck is kind of a special case."

Marina: "Special case?"

(Marina says, interested.)

(Mew steps forward and says.)

Mew: "Well, Psyduck's Water abilities are well, lately developed as they say, but he seems to have strong Psychic abilities when his headache becomes severe enough."

Marina: "I see,"

(Marina says.)

Misty: "Yeah, but my Golduck has been very helpful to Psyduck, and Golduck is a good teacher as of lately."

(Misty says.)

Marina: "Sounds nice,"

(Marina says.)

(Then she has an idea.)

Marina: "Hey Misty, why don't we have a Pokemon battle to see which one of us is the better trainer?"

Misty: "Okay, Marina!"

(Misty says, liking the idea.)

(Meanwhile, somewhere in the waves of floating Tentacools.)

(Team Rocket's submarine appears to raise its periscope.)

(Jessie is looking through the periscope to find Mew and her friends.)

(James asks.)

James: "No sign of those kids?"

(Meowth angrily shouts.)

Meowth: "Well I know I wouldn't have lost them! Why don't you let me steer for a change?!"

(Jessie angrily gives Meowth an evil eye.)

(and smacks him on the cheek, causing him to spin her hair.)

Jessie: "Backseat driver,"

(Jessie responds.)

(Then James says.)

James: "If we can't find Pikachu, maybe we can find someplace to have lunch."

(Meowth stops spinning and holds his sore cheek.)

Meowth: "Or at least some place with an ice pack."

(Jessie growls in anger and turns to Meowth.)

Jessie: "you be quiet?! I'm sick of your complaining! I told you I'd find those brats, and I will!"

(She then looks through the periscope again, and spots Mew and her friends.)

Jessie: "Bingo! Twerps at twelve o'clock!"

(Meanwhile, back on the shore.)

(Misty and Marina are going to have a Pokemon battle.)

(Marina suggests.)

Marina: "How about a 3-on-3 match?"

Misty: "Okay!"

(Misty says.)

Tracey: "Wow, an all water Pokemon battle! I wanna make some sketches of this!"

(Tracey says.)

Tomo: "Go Misty!"

(Tomo calls out.)

Mew: "Yeah. You can do it!"

(Mew calls out.)

Misty: "Thanks guys! Now just watch and see what I can do!"

(Misty says.)

Marina: "I wanna win this match, so I better start off with something really cool! So I choose you, Tentacruel!"

(Marina calls out.)

(With that, Tentacruel comes out of the water.)

Misty: "And I'm gonna start off with a Pokemon that's as good as gold!"

(Misty says, holding her Pokeball.)

(She then throws the Pokeball as she calls out.)

Misty: "Goldeen!"

(With that, Goldeen is out of her Pokeball and in the water.)

(Marina happily says.)

Marina: "Your Goldeen is such a sweetie!"

Misty: "Thank you!"

(Misty says.)

Marina: "But just being cute doesn't mean it's gonna win this battle!"

(Marina says.)

Misty: "Right,"

(Misty says, and brings out a different Pokeball.)

(She then opens it and little Mudkip comes out.)

(Misty says to Mudkip.)

Misty: "Mudkip, I'm going to have a water Pokemon battle so I want you to watch."

Mudkip: "Mudkip," (Okay.)

Marina: "Aww, what a cute little Mudkip, I never seen one before."

(Marina happily says.)

Misty: "I'm glad you like it. I want Mudkip to watch the match."

(Misty says.)

Marina: "Great. Now let's start,"

(Marina says.)

(Then calls out to her Pokemon.)

Marina: "Tentacruel, Wrap attack!"

(Tentacruel extends its tentacles towards Goldeen.)

(Misty calls out.)

Misty: "Goldeen, use your Agility!"

(Goldeen dodges the oncoming tentacles as she swims in the water.)

(Then Misty calls out.)

Misty: "Horn Attack, now!"

(Goldeen charges with full force.)

Tracey: "Wow. Misty really seems to know how to handle her Pokemon,"

(Tracey says, sketching in his sketchbook.)

Mew: "She does, but I'm sorry on what Tnetacruel's next move is."

(Mew replies.)

(Misty says with confidence.)

Misty: "I'm gonna win this!"

(Then, Goldeen's horn glows and then it leaps in for an attack.)

(But Marina says.)

Marina: "Don't bet on it, Misty! Tentacruel, Poison Sting!"

(Tracey and Mew call out.)

Tracey and Mew: "Look out!"

(In the matter of seconds, Tentacruel's Poison Sting directly hits Goldeen.)

(Misty cries out.)

Misty: "Goldeen, no!"

Marina: "Perfect!"

(Marina cheers.)

(Goldeen then flashes into the water from the attack.)

(Soon, it floats back to the surface, knocked out.)

Tracey: "Looks like Goldeen's out and Tentacruel wins!"

(Tracey says.)

(Just then, Marina says.)

Marina: "I think I probably forgot to mention that my real specialty is water Pokémon that have some characteristics of some other types of Pokémon, too!"

Tracey: "I get it! Tentacruel is a water type and a poison type with abilities of both types!"

(Tracey understands.)

Tomo: "So it has an advantage in battle."

(Tomo replies.)

Mew: "Tentacruel does, and it seems to have strong Poison Type Attacks."

(Mew says.)

(Misty asks her Pokemon.)

Misty: "Goldeen, are you okay?"

(But Goldeen is knocked out.)

(She then brings out her Pokeball.)

Misty: "You did your best."

(And calls it back inside.)

(Then Misty brings out another Pokeball.)

Misty: "Now I choose you, Staryu!"

(With that, Staryu comes out of its Pokeball.)

(Marina is ecstatic.)

Marina: "I just love Staryu!"

Misty: "I think Staryu is one of my most favorite Pokemon of all."

(Misty says.)

Marina: "And yours really sparkles, Misty!"

(Marina says, excited.)

Misty: "Do you think so? I wanted to keep Staryu looking good, so I polished it the other day!"

(Misty says.)

(Marina calls out.)

Marina: "You did a really great job!"

Misty: "I'm so glad you like it!"

(Misty happily says.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Are you two just gonna talk all day?!"

Misty: "Oh, alright,"

(Misty replies.)

(Then calls out the first attack.)

Misty: "Staryu, Swift attack, now!"

(Staryu then launches the first attack.)

(and directly hits Tentacruel before it can do anything, knocking it out instantly.)

Misty: "Your Tentacruel's really strong, Marina, but it's too tired to fight off Staryu's Swift attack!"

(Misty says with pride.)

(Marina says to her Tentacruel.)

Marina: "Nice work, Tentacruel, but you better take a rest."

(Then Tentacruel swims off the battlefield.)

Marina: "Now I think I'll use one of my strongest Pokémon!"

(Marina says and throws her Pokeball.)

(Soon, a Psyduck comes out of Marina's Pokeball.)

(and flexes his muscles.)

(Mew and the others are surprised.)

Mew: "A Psyduck!"

(Mew says.)

Tomo: "Wow, that sure doesn't look like yours, Misty."

(Tomo says.)

Mew: "Yeah. This Psyduck can be strong."

(Mew calls out.)

Tracey: "Yeah, I forgot how tough a Psyduck can be!"

(Tracey says.)

(Marina calls out to Misty.)

Marina: "I don't know how you used that rubbery Psyduck of yours, Misty, but now I'll show you how powerful a Psyduck can be if you train it the right way!"

(A bit offended, Misty calls out.)

Misty: "Staryu, Water Gun!"

(With that, Staryu sprays the attack towards Psyduck.)

(Then Marina calls out.)

Marina: "Psyduck, Confusion!"

(Psyduck then uses its Confusion attack.)

(to deflect the water upward and back down at Staryu, knocking it out.)

Misty: "Staryu!"

(Misty calls out.)

(Staryu rises from the surface, and its gem is flashing red.)

(Which means, Staryu is unable to battle.)

(Misty brings out Staryu's Pokeball.)

Misty: "I think you better come back and take a rest."

(and calls Staryu back to its Pokeball.)

Marina: "I guess Staryu isn't shining so brightly, now."

(Marina comments, making Misty Irritated.)

(Then Marina says.)

Marina: "Hey! Why don't we let our Psyduck battle?"

Misty: "Our Psyduck?"

(Misty says, confused.)

Tracey: "A battle might be enough to make your Psyduck evolve, Misty."

(Tracey says.)

Tomo: "Tracey's right!"

(Tomo says.)

(Misty looks at her Pokeball and says.)

Misty: "And Psyduck would become a Golduck. Yeah! Go, Psyduck!"

(And throws her Pokeball.)

(However, when the Pokeball opens.)

(nothing is coming out and it falls into the water, leaving everyone confused.)

Misty: "I guess that one was, empty."

(Misty says, embarrassed.)

(Everyone falls over in disbelief.)

(Misty begins to sweat bullets.)

Misty: "Even great trainers make mistakes."

(Then calls out.)

Misty: "Hey, Mew! Hurry up and throw me Psyduck's Pokéball!"

Mew: "Sure Misty!"

(Mew cays.)

(She then reaches into Misty's backpack to search for Psyduck's Pokeball.)

(However, she suddenly remembers.)

(how many Pokeballs Misty has, and has trouble finding it.)

Mew: "I can't find it, Misty!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Then Misty calls out.)

Misty: "If you can't tell, just throw me my backpack and I'll find it!"

Mew: "Okay,"

(Mew says, and tosses Misty's backpack.)

Mew: "Catch!"

(Misty reaches out for it, but she misses and it falls into the water.)

Misty: "Mew!"

(Misty says, annoyed.)

Mew: "Oops. Sorry, Misty,"

(Mew replies.)

(Misty then reaches into the water.)

Misty: "I hope I can find it."

(Misty soon grabs her backpack.)

(but sees something has its head in it, shocking her and everyone else.)

(Marina asks, shocked.)

Marina: "Is that..?"

Mew: "No way!"

(Mew says, surprised.)

Pikachu: "Pika?" (What is?)

(Pikachu questions.)

Togepi: "Toge?" (That thing?)

(Togepi replies.)

(Confused, Eevee wonders.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee?" (Is that a head?)"

Pichu: "Pichu?" (A head?)

(Pichu replies.)

Mudkip: "Mudkip," (A head.)

(Mudkip replies, confused.)

(Misty pulls her backpack off and reveals that it's a Golduck inside it.)

(Misty and Marina shout in surprise.)

Misty and Marina: "It's, a Golduck!"

Tracey: "That's weird. It evolved fast!"

(Tracey says.)

(With that, Golduck exits the water with a flare.)

(Misty and Marina gushes over it.)

Misty and Marina: "Wow! Cutie!"

(Soon Golduck starts posing around for Misty, Marina, and the others.)

(Misty lunches towards Golduck.)

Misty: "You're here!"

(and hugs Golduck.)

Misty: "And I can't believe you're mine!

Marina: "What a great Golduck! I've never seen a Golduck as great as that one!"

(Marina happily says.)

Misty: "Everybody used to yell and say all kinds of bad things about Psyduck, but nobody's gonna say bad things now!"

(Misty happily says.)

(Then turns to Golduck.)

Misty: "Right, Golduck?"

(Golduck gives Misty a thumbs up.)

(Tomo whispers to Mew.)

Tomo: "The one who said most of those things was Misty."

(Tracey whispers to Tomo.)

Tracey: "Love is a complicated thing.

(Tomo is confused.)

(Then Tracey says.)

Tracey: "Obviously, Psyduck wanted to evolve for Misty because it loved her back."

Misty: "I just know now we're gonna make a great team, Golduck!"

(Misty happily cheers.)

(Meanwhile, Team Rocket continues to spy on Mew and her friends from a distance.)

(Noticing Golduck, Jessie says.)

Jessie: "There's a Pokémon I've never seen before."

Meowth: "Great! We can grab Pikachu, and that one, too!"

(Meowth says.)

Jessie and James: "Yeah!"

(Jessie and James agree.)

(Soon, the Submarine begins to travel towards the battlefield.)

(Meanwhile on the battlefield, Misty says.)

Misty: "Okay, Marina. Now let's battle and let's see who's stronger. Your Psyduck, or my Golduck."

(Marina says.)

Marina: "This should be interesting."

(Then calls out the attack.)

Marina: "Go, Psyduck! Confusion!"

(Marina's Psyduck uses Confusion and commands a tidal wave to rise and rush towards Golduck and Misty.)

(Misty calls out.)

Misty: "Go, Golduck! Ride that wave!"

(Golduck leaps, and using Confusion.)

(it rides the wave away and back towards Psyduck and Marina.)

(Misty sighs happily.)

Misty: "Golduck listens to me!"

(Golduck is about to use the attack.)

(to hit Marina and Psyduck, suddenly, the wave becomes Whirlpool.)

(Mew calls out in shock.)

Mew: "Whirlpool!"

Tomo: "What's going on?"

(Tomo asks.)

(Misty calls out.)

Misty: "Golduck! Get out of there, fast!"

(However, Golduck is unable to leave the whirlpool.)

(Marina turns to her Psyduck.)

Marina: "Did you do that, Psyduck?"

Psyduck: "Psyduck," (Not me.)

(Marina's Psyduck answers, shaking his head.)

(Suddenly, the whirlpool dissipates and Golduck falls into the water.)

(And after that, Team Rocket's submarine surfaces, shocking Mew and the others.)

Marina: "What's that?"

(Marina exclaims.)

Pikachu: "Pika!" (Oh no!)

(Pikachu exclaims.)

Mew: "Run for it! It's Team Rocket's Submarine!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Everyone on Marina's side of the field flees as the sub runs aground.)

(Mew turns to her Pokemon.)

Mew: "Pikachu, Eevee, use Thunderbolt, now!"

(Pikachu and Eevee launch the attack, but nothing happens.)

(This shocked Pikachu and Eevee.)

Pikachu and Eevee: "Pika?! Eev?! (What the?!)

Mew: "What's wrong?"

(Mew asks, shocked.)

(Meowth laughs and says.)

Meowth: "Save your energy, squeaky! When we overhauled the sub, we made the whole thing shock proof! Let's get em!"

(Just then, the sub creates a tidal wave and heads towards Mew and the others.)

(When the wave hits them, they're washed back towards.)

(the shore as Team Rocket launches the net from the sub.)

(Soon, Meowth pops out of the sub and begins to cheer.)

(Jessie and James follow soon after.)

(Jessie says.)

Jessie: "You know, maybe it's easier for us to steal Pokemon if we don't recite the motto first."

James: "Maybe so,"

(James says)

(Then Meowth says.)

Meowth: "Hoist up the net and let's see our catch!"

(Soon, the next hoist up to reveal Tentacruel and Psyduck.)

(are trapped inside the net, confusing Team Rocket.)

Meowth: "Who's them?"

(Meowth wonders.)

(James then asks.)

James: "Where are Pikachu and that surf duck?"

(Meanwhile, Mew and the others soon find themselves up in the palm trees.)

(Mew turns to her friends and asks.)

Mew: "Are you okay, guys?"

Pikachu: "Pika." (I'm good.)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee," (Me too.)

(Eevee says.)

(Marina calls out.)

Marina: "Tentacruel! Psyduck!"

(Then Misty calls out.)

Misty: "Golduck, can you hear me?"

(Just then, Golduck pops up in the tree.)

(Misty kneels down to him in relief.)

Misty: "Oh, Golduck, I'm so glad you're safe."

(Tracey looks over the horizon as he climbs down and says.)

Tracey: "Marina, Team Rocket has your Psyduck and your Tentacruel!"

(Marina gasps and turns to see Team Rocket has her Pokemon trapped in the net.)

(Mew and the others quickly climb down the tree.)

Misty: "Don't you worry, we'll get them back for you!"

(Misty says.)

(But Marina says.)

Marina: "Thanks for the offer, but I can get my Pokémon back myself!"

(Then throws out her Pokeball.)

Marina: "Go, Starmie!"

(Her Pokeball opens and Starmie materializes from its Pokeball and enters the water.)

(Misty turns to Golduck.)

Misty: "Go help them, Golduck!"

(Golduck agrees and dives into the water.)

(Golduck speeds past Marina's Starmie.)

(Misty says with admiration.)

Misty: "I just love Golduck!"

(Meanwhile, in the Magikarp submarine.)

(Team Rocket are arguing among themselves about the little screw up they have.)

(James angrily questions.)

James: "Why did we go through all this trouble to wind up with a Tentacruel and Psyduck?!"

Jessie: "Don't yell at me, this attack wasn't MY idea!"

(Jessie shouts angrily.)

(Then Meowth screams.)

Meowth: "Well, whose was it?!

(And soon, Team Rocket begins fighting and accusing each other.)

(but quickly stop to see Golduck hop up in front of them on the rocks.)

(He wins and gives them a thumbs up.)

(Team Rocket happily says.)

Team Rocket: "It's that new, blue Pokémon!

(Then Meowth says.)

Meowth: "Alright, full speed ahead!"

(Team Rocket gets back in the submarine and full speed ahead towards Golduck.)

(But before they can attack, Golduck uses Confusion to lift the submarine in the air with just one finger.)

(Then with a wave of his finger, the submarine is thrown far to the left and right towards Mew and the others.)

(Everyone panics and quickly moves out of the way before the submarine hits the beach.)

(When the sand and dust clears, they turn to see Team Rocket crawling out, battered.)

(Marina hurries towards them.)

Marina: "Hey! That's MY Tentacruel and MY Psyduck!"

(But is stopped by Team Rocket.)

James: "Just hold it there."

(James says.)

(Marina demands.)

Marina: "Who are you? And what do you want?"

Jessie: "We want you to prepare for trouble,"

(Jessie says.)

(Then James says.)

James: "And while you're at it, make it double."

(And with that, Team Rocket performs their motto.)

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation!

James: To unite all people within our nation!

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!

James: To extend our reach to the stars above!

Jessie: Jessie!

James: James!

Jessie: Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!

James: Surrender now, or prepare to fight!

Meowth: Meowth, that's right!

(Then Meowth says, with a small frown.)

Meowth: "I guess I was wrong about the motto."

(Mew steps forward and demands.)

Mew: "You better give back those Pokémon!"

Pikachu and Eevee: "Pika! Eev!" (Right now!)

(Pikachu and Eevee angrily reply.)

(Jessie scoffs and says.)

Jessie: "Take em!"

James: "I hope you don't think we actually want to keep common Pokemon like these."

(James says.)

Marina: "You mean I can have them?"

(Marina questions.)

James: "Yes, and the quicker you take them, the better."

(James says.)

(The Meowth hops on Jessie and James' shoulders.)

Meowth: "Wait a second! To get these back, you have to give us Pikachu."

(Mew and the others are confused.)

(Impressed Jessie says.)

Jessie: "Meowth, that's a brilliant idea!"

James: "You do have a brain!"

(James says.)

(Meowth then laughs wickedly.)

Mew: "There's no way you're getting Pikachu!"

(Mew angrily says.)

(Then Pikachu starts streaming sparks from his cheeks.)

(Mew quickly halts Pikachu.)

Mew: "Wait, Pikachu. If you attack Team Rocket, Tentacruel and Psyduck will get shocked, too."

(Pikachu knows Mew is right, but is still not pleased about it.)

(Meowth then begins laughing.)

(Then James says.)

James: "It looks like you have no choice."

Jessie: "You're getting a great bargain. Two for you, Pikachu,"

(Jessie says.)

(Marina calls out.)

Marina: "Tentacruel, Psyduck, try to break out of that net!"

(However, the two are very weakened and are unable to break loose from the net.)

(Marina notices it and asks.)

Marina: "What's wrong with you two?"

Misty: "They both must be tired from their last two battles, now they're too weak to get out!"

(Misty answers.)

Marina: "Then I'll just have to get them out myself!"

(Marina says with determination, and rushes forward to rescue her Pokemon herself.)

(Mew and the others cry out.)

Everyone: "Marina!"

Jessie: "We can't let you do that!"

(Jessie says.)

(She then brings out her Pokeball.)

Jessie: "Ha! Arbok, go!"

(And throws it.)

(Jessie's Pokeball opens and Arbok is released, and Marina comes to a halt.)

Jessie: "Can't you see we're negotiating? Now back off!"

(Jessie says.)

(But Marina refuses.)

Marina: "Not until you give my Pokemon back!"

(Jessie angrily commands.)

Jessie: "Arbok, take care of her!"

(Arbok lunges forwards to attack Marina.)

(but a Water Gun strikes at Arbok, sending it to the tree.)

(shocking everyone.)

(Everyone looks to see Golduck is coming in, and Team Rocket notices it.)

James: "There it is!"

(James calls out.)

(Then Meowth says.)

Meowth: "Now's our chance, we can't let it get away!"

(Jessie commands the attack.)

Jessie: "Arbok, Poison Sting attack!"

(Arbok then performs the attack, but Golduck creates a forcefield with his Disable attack.)

(Then fires a Psychic attack that sends Arbok blasting off.)

(Team Rocket panics and are forced to retreat.)

(Just then, Golduck charges up and fires Hyper Beam, a very powerful attack.)

(It destroys the submarine and sends Team Rocket blasting off.)

(Meowth says in defeat.)

Meowth: "I guess we should've ducked!"

James: "Yes!"

(James agrees.)

Jessie: "Now the three of us are sore and soaring!"

(Jessie says.)

(Then all three shout together.)

Team Rocket: "We're blasting off again!"

(And soon, Team Rocket is gone.)

(Down on the beach.)

(Mew and the others have shield themselves from the blast.)

(Marina lifts her head up and asks.)

Marina: "But what happened to my Tentacruel and Psyduck?!"

(Everyone looks and sees that the submarine has been engulfed in flames.)

(Marina cries out.)

Marina: "Tentacruel! Psyduck!"

(Soon, through the flames, Mew and the others see Golduck lifting Tentacruel and Psyduck over its head.)

(and protecting them with its Psychic powers, surprising everyone.)

(Golduck then approaches Marina, kneels down, and places her Pokemon down.)

(Marina is very relieved.)

Marina: "I'm so glad you're back!"

(Misty rushes over to Golduck in glee.)

Misty: "Oh, Golduck! You saved the Pokemon! It was totally amazing!"

(Golduck gives a wink and a thumbs up as a thank you.)

(Marina turns to Misty and Golduck.)

Marina: "Thanks, Misty. Thanks, Golduck."

Misty: "No problem,"

(Misty says.)

Tomo: "That last attack Golduck used was really super awesome!"

(Tomo says, impressed.)

Marina: "It must have been a Hyper Beam."

(Marina suspects.)

Tracey: "It's a good thing Psyduck evolved or it couldn't have used it."

(Tracey says.)

Misty: "And to think Golduck did it all for me! Golduck, you're the best!"

(Misty happily says and hugs Golduck.)

Tracey: "That looks, like love to me."

(Tracey comments.)

(Soon enough, Misty and Marina continue with their 3-on-3 battle.)

(Marina is battling with Starmie while Misty is battling with Golduck.)

(Misty says.)

Misty: "It's time to finish our Pokémon match, Marina!"

Marina: "Now we'll get to see which one of us is the better water Pokémon trainer!"

(Marina says.)

(Misty then calls out the first attack.)

Misty: "Alright, Golduck, let's win this! Fury Swipes, now!"

(Golduck charges forward for the attack.)

(Then Marina calls out.)

Marina: "Okay, Starmie, Tackle attack!"

(Starmie charges.)

(With that, both Pokemon collide with one another, surprising the group.)

Tracey: "What a match!"

(Tracey says.)

(Then Marina calls out.)

Marina: "Starmie, Bubble, now!"

(Starmie then launches the Bubble attack towards Golduck, and batters Golduck badly.)

(Misty cries out.)

Misty: "Golduck, no!"

Tracey: "That Marina sure isn't gonna be easy to beat!"

(Tracey says.)

(Misty calls out to Golduck.)

Misty: "Alright, Golduck, we gotta take our best shot to win this! Use your Hyper Beam attack!"

(Golduck then recovers in mid-air.)

Marina: "I knew that one was coming! Starmie, Light Screen!"

(Marina says with confidence.)

(Starmie then shields himself with Light Screen.)

(and Golduck performs his Hyper Beam Attack.)

(When the Hyper Beam hits the light Screen, it's proven to be very strong.)

(The Hyper Beam shatters the Light Screen and the attack strikes at Starmie with full force.)

(and strangely to the rocks beside Marina's feet.)

(Marina kneels to her Pokemon.)

Marina: "Starmie!"

(Misty cheers.)

Misty: "Yay! You did it, Golduck!"

(Golduck starts posing around in victory.)

Marina: "That was a great match, and you did a great job! You're a great water Pokemon trainer, Misty!"

(Marina says.)

Misty: "Thanks, Marina. But I was really lucky when Psyduck evolved when it did. If it wasn't for Golduck, I think, maybe, you would've won."

(Misty happily says.)

(The group applauds.)

Mew: "You did a great job Misty."

(Mew says.)

Tomo: "That was cool,"

(Tomo says.)

Tracey: "That was an awesome match!"

(Tracey says.)

(The Pokemon clap and cheer as well.)

Misty: "Okay, Golduck. Why don't you take a rest in your Pokéball?"

(Misty says as she holds out her Pokeball.)

(When she tries to call Golduck in the Pokeball, nothing happens.)

Misty: "Huh?"

(Misty says, confused.)

(She tries again, but nothing happens.)

Misty: "What's going on?"

(Misty wonders.)

(Mew walks over and says.)

Mew: "Try using Golduck's Pokeball."

Misty: "Okay,"

(Misty says.)

(She brings out Golduck's Pokeball and tries to call it back, but nothing happens.)

(Misty is even more confused, so are the others.)

Misty: "Why aren't my Pokeballs working?"

(Misty asks.)

Mew: "I think I know. This Golduck is not your Psyduck or Golduck. This is a wild Golduck."

(Mew says.)

(Suddenly, Golduck hears a group of girls laughing.)

(and Golduck hurries over to them instantly and shows off in front of them.)

(The girls soon enjoy it.)

Marina: "That Golduck isn't yours. It just likes to show off for girls."

(Marina says, a little surprised.)

(Tomo says.)

Tomo: "So it's like a Pokémon version of Brock."

Mew: "Guess so,"

(Mew says.)

Misty: "But if it's not Golduck or Psyduck who evolved, and if they're not in their Pokeballs, where are they?"

(Misty wonders, searching around and very worried.)

(Suddenly, they hear a happy.)

Psyduck: "Psy!"

(Misty and the others turn to see Golduck holding on to Psyduck's webs.)

(and gently drags Psyduck along the water close to the shore as he kicks his legs.)

(Soon enough, Golduck lets Psyduck go and Psyduck begins to swim a little on his own.)

(Soon Psyduck sinks a bit as he tries to keep his head above the water.)

(Soon, Psyduck reaches the shore.)

(He climbs out of the water and gives Golduck a peace sign with glee.)

(Then Golduck gives Psyduck a thumbs up.)

(Misty calls out.)

Misty: "Psyduck! Golduck!"

(The two Pokemon turn to hear Misty calling them.)

(Moments later, Golduck and Psyduck return to Misty.)

(Misty kneels down to them and asks.)

Misty: "Where were you two?"

Psyduck: "Psyduck Psyduck Psyduck Psyduck Psyduck," (I asked Golduck to teach me to swim so I can get better at battling for you.)

(Psyduck answers.)

Misty: "What did Psyduck say?"

(Misty asks.)

(Mew says.)

Mew: "Psyduck said that he wants to do better with battling for you, so he asked Golduck to teach him how to swim."

Misty: "Really? You did it for me?"

(Misty asks.)

(Psyduck happily nods his head.)

(Misty pats Psyduck on the head.)

Misty: "Thanks Psyduck, but next time, let me know when you two are leaving."

(Then turns to Golduck.)

Misty: "You too, Golduck."

(Golduck nods his head.)

(Then Misty turns to Marina and asks.)

Misty: "Hey Marina, is Psyduck still going to evolve to Golduck. You said Psyduck's glowing tail meant it was gonna evolve!"

(Marina is practically sweating bullets and nervously laughs.)

(making that it's not really true.)

(Misty is not happy about it.)

Tracey: "That wild Golduck sure had you fooled, huh, Misty?"

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "That Golduck had us all fooled. I actually thought it was Golduck."

(Mew says.)

(Misty looks at Tracey angrily, but just sighs.)

(Marina walks to Misty and says.)

Marina: "You should be happy, Misty. This proves you really are a great water Pokemon trainer."

Misty: "You're just saying that,"

(Misty says.)

(Marina shakes her head and says.)

Marina: "You were using an evolved wild Pokemon without even capturing it, and you still won the match.

Misty: "Yeah?"

(Misty asks.)

Marina: "Yeah!"

(Marina says.)

Tracey: "That was pretty impressive, Misty."

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "It sure is,"

(Mew says.)

(Tomo walks over and says.)

Tomo: "But I guess that means your last battle didn't count."

(Misty looks a bit puzzled.)

Tomo: "How could that battle count if it wasn't your Golduck?"

(Tomo adds.)

(Misty is shocked by the revelation.)

(But Mew says.)

Mew: "But look at the bright side. You already have a Golduck, and someday Psyduck might evolve. And you'll have more time to train Psyduck and Golduck can help."

(Misty sighs.)

Misty: "I suppose right."

(Psyduck and Golduck turn to each other with a smile.)

(Later in the evening, Mew and her friends depart from the island as they wave goodbye to Marina.)

(Misty waves as she calls out.)

Misty: "Bye, Marina! I had a lot of fun battling you! If Psyduck ever evolves, I wanna have another match with you!"

(Misty's Psyduck may not have evolved, but is able to win the match.)

(despite the other Golduck not being hers.)

(And Psyduck ends up getting a little training thanks to Golduck.)

(And the most important thing is that Misty is a step closer from becoming a Water Pokemon Master.)
