Chapter 13: Electric Showdown at the Vermilion Gym

(After two weeks of being lost, Mew and her friends have finally reached the entrance to Vermilion City.)

(The three humans happily cheers.)

Mew, Misty and Brock: "Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!"

Misty: "I can't wait to take a bubble bath!"

(Misty happily says.)

Brock: "I gotta hit the laundromat!"

(Brock says.)

Mew: "I could really use something to eat I'm starving."

(Mew says.)

Brock: "And it looks like you're not the only one."

(Brock says, and points down.)

Mew: "Huh?"

(Mew replies and looks down.)

(Mew looks down to see Pikachu and Eevee have collapsed on the ground from exhaustion and hunger.)

Mew: "Pikachu! Eevee!"

(Mew worriedly says, and picks up her Pokemon.)

Misty: "They must be hungry."

(Misty says, worried.)

Brock: "We haven't eaten anything decent in three days now."

(Brock says.)

Mew: "Hey, Pikachu, Eevee. You both feeling hungry, little guys?"

(Mew asks.)

(Suddenly, Mew's stomach begins to growl.)

(Same with Brock and Misty.)

(Embarrassed, Mew laughs and says.)

Mew: "I guess we're all a little hungry. Eh, guys?"

Pikachu and Eevee: "Pika/Eev" (Uh huh.)

(Pikachu and Eevee weakly say with a nod.)

(Seeing how hungry, tired, and well, dirty they are, they decide that the Pokemon Center should be their first stop.)

(Mew places her Pokeballs and two of her Pokemon on the tray.)

Mew: "I think they're hungry."

(Mew says.)

Nurse Joy: "We'll fix your Pokemon up."

(Nurse Joy says.)

(The group looks at Nurse Joy and are a bit surprised to see her appearance.)

(Nurse Joy turns to them and says.)

Nurse Joy: "I know why most of you are surprised, I look like all the other nurses, don't I? My first cousin works in Pewter City, and my second cousin works in Viridian City. I think I'm the prettiest one, don't you?"

(And giggles in reply.)

Brock: "Yeah,"

(Brock says.)

(The doors to the Center open behind them and they hear shouting.)

A boy: "Hurry! You'll be okay Rattata! Hurry!"

(The group look to see a boy running next to a stretch that has a Rattata on it, and Chansey helps bring it to the emergency room.)

Brock: "That Rattata in rough shape. I wonder what happened,"

(Brock replies.)

(Nurse Joy sighs as she stands up and says.)

Nurse Joy: "Oh, it's the 15th one brought in this month."

Mew: "What?"

(Mew asks, shocked.)

(Nurse Joy brings the three trainers to the emergency room.)

(Looks like many Pokemon are injured and are laying in a medical bed.)

(They also have bandages wrapped and stick on.)

(Mew and her friends are shocked.)

Brock: "This is terrible."

(Brock says.)

Nurse Joy: "They all lost to Lieutenant Surge, the Vermilion gym leader."

(Nurse Joy says.)

Mew: "Whoa! He must be a great trainer! What kind of Pokemon did he use, a Gyarados or a Primeape… Hmm, maybe a Rhydon."

(Mew says, surprised.)

(The Oddish's trainer answers.)

The Oddish's trainer: "No, he has a powerful Raichu."

Mew: "A Raichu?"

(Mew says, confused.)

Misty: "That Raichu must be tough. I wonder how tough you have to be to win at the Vermilion Gym."

(Misty says.)

Brock: "From the looks of things here, you will have to be tough to battle with this Lt. Surge."

(Brock says.)

Mew: "He and that Raichu must be really tough since he's able to defeat a Sandshrew and it's a Ground Type Pokemon."

(Mew says.)

Brock: "You're right."

(Brock says.)

(Mew wonders.)

Mew: "Does Lt. Surge uses other Pokemon?"

(The trainers with their injured Pokemon shake their heads.)

(Sandshrew's trainer says.)

Sandshrew's trainer: "No. Not at all."

The Oddish's trainer: "He mostly uses Raichu, and it's a very powerful one, especially it's electrical attacks."

(The Oddish trainer says.)

The Sandshrew Trainer: "It uses Thunderbolt, Take down, and Body Slam,"

(The Sandshrew Trainer says.)

The Oddish trainer: "It also uses Mega Punch, Mega Kick, and Thunder Shock,"

(The Oddish trainer adds.)

The Rattata Trainer: "We didn't even have a chance to call that many attacks."

(The Rattata Trainer says.)

(Mew is shocked to hear how the other trainers have been beaten by Lt. Surge and his Raichu.)

(She has to wonder how she is going to beat him and get the Thunder Badge.)

(Suddenly, the group hears beeping sounds.)

Nurse Joy: "That signal means your Pokemon has recovered."

(Nurse Joy informs.)

(Sitting in the lobby, Pikachu and Eevee are eating apples while Mew's Pokeballs are sitting on a tray next to them.)

Mew: "Hey Pikachu. Hi Eevee. Are you both feeling better?"

(Mew asks.)

Pikachu: "Pikachu." (Feeling a lot better.)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee." (Feed, energized, and ready to go.)

(Eevee says.)

Mew: "Glad you're feeling better. We really need to come up with a strategy for this gym. It's going to be tough."

(Mew says.)

Pikachu: "Pi?" (Why?)

(Pikachu asks.)

(Just then, another Chansey pushing a stretcher comes inside with a trainer.)

(This time the injured Pokemon is a Pidgey.)

(The trainer panics.)

Pidgey trainer: "Please hurry! Just hold on, Pidgey!"

Misty: "I guess they must have come from that gym."

(Misty says.)

(Hearing this, Pikachu and Eevee panic.)

Pikachu and Eevee: "Pi/Ev!"

Mew: "What's wrong guys?"

(Mew asks.)

(Pikachu rapidly shakes his head.)

Pikachu: "Pikachu Pikachu!" (We don't want to fight in that gym!)

Mew: "Trust me, I feel uneasy about going to that gym as well. I don't want you guys to end up like what happened to Pidgey and the other Pokemon."

(Mew says.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee?" (So then, how are you supposed to battle him?)

(Eevee asks.)

Mew: "I'm not sure Eevee. What I do know is that Lt. Surge is an Electric Type Gym, since he has a Raichu. And it seems that Raichu it's his main Pokemon to use."

(Mew says.)

Pikachu: "Pika Pika?" (He has a Raichu?)

(Pikachu asks.)

Mew: "Yes. He does,"

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Hmm, maybe check out your Pokedex, you can learn more about Raichu."

(Misty suggested.)

Mew: "Okay,"

(Mew says, and brings out her Pokedex.)

(Dexter says.)

Dexter: "Raichu, the Mouse Pokemon, and the evolved form of Pikachu. An Electric Type. It can shock with more than 100,000 volts, Careless contact can cause even an Indian elephant to faint."

Misty: "Yikes,"

(Misty comments.)

Brock: "Raichu sounds very strong and powerful."

(Brock says.)

Mew: "Yeah. Makes me wonder how we're going to beat that kind of Pokemon."

(Mew says.)

(Suddenly, Pikachu turns to the window and suddenly becomes determined.)

Mew: "What's wrong Pikachu?"

(Mew asks.)

Brock: "I think Pikachu is wondering about taking on this Raichu."

(Brock says.)

Mew: "Really?"

(Mew says, confused.)

Brock: "Yeah. I think Pkachu wants to win against Raichu, but also feels a bit discouraged on how strong it is."

(Brock says.)

Mew: "I'm sure Pikachu will do the best he can to battle against Raichu, but from what we can tell, we need to find a way to defeat that Raichu, especially with that much power it seems to have."

(Mew says.)

(Pikachu continues to look out the window with determination.)

(Unknown to them, Team Rocket is spying on them and has been hearing the conversation.)

Jessie: "Did you hear that?"

(Jessie asks.)

James: "Yes. The twerp girl said that she might have trouble beating this Raichu."

(James says.)

Mew: "But Pikachu is strong. I'm sure it can beat Raichu. Still, they are dealing with the evolved form of Pikachu, so it could be a challenge."

(Mew says.)

(Suddenly, they hear Nurse Joy say.)

Nurse Joy: "There is one way you might win."

(Team Rocket remains silent as they see Mew and her friends turn to see Nurse Joy entering the lobby, and has a box in her arm.)

Nurse Joy: "I'm sorry I overheard your conversation and I just thought that maybe…"

(Nurse Joy says.)

Mew: "How can we win?"

(Mew asks, curiously.)

Nurse Joy: "A while ago, I just happened to come across this."

(Nurse Joy says.)

(She then opens the box.)

(Inside the box it shows a greenish blue color stone with a lighting bolt inside.)

Brock: "Wow! It's a Thunder Stone!"

(Brock says.)

Mew: "A Thunder Stone?"

(Mew says, interested.)

(Brock nods his head and says.)

Brock: "Yes You can use it to make Pikachu evolve into a Raichu."

Mew: "I can make Pikachu evolve into a Raichu?"

(Mew says, confused.)

(Then picks up the stone.)

Mew: "Then Pikachu might be strong enough to win But…"

Nurse Joy: "You've got to think hard before using the Thunder Stone."

(Nurse Joy says.)

Misty::"If you make Pikachu evolve, Mew, you can't change it back."

(Misty says.)

Brock: "Pikachu will never be the same."

(Brock adds.)

Mew: "If Pikachu becomes a Raichu, I might be able to win that badge. But I… I don't want to evolve Pikachu just to fight… I… I might not be any better than Damian who cares about using Pokemon to win."

(Mew worriedly says.)

(She walks to Pikachu and asks.)

Mew: "Pikachu, what do you want to do?"

(Pikachu looks at the Thunder Stone.)

Mew: "I really want to beat that Lt. Surge, but I also don't want to force you to evolve if you'd be happier staying the way you are.")

(Mew says, still holding out the stone.)

James: "She's letting Pikachu decide."

(James says.)

James: "If it becomes Raichu, it'll be stronger."

(James says.)

Meowth: "What's it gonna do?"

(Meowth wonders.)

(Mew sits next to Pikachu and asks.)

Mew: "What do you think?"

(Pikachu looked at it, then he slapped the Thunder Stone away with its tail.)

(Mew gasps in surprise.)

Mew: "Pikachu!"

Pikachu: "Pika Pikachu Pika Pi Pi Pi Pikachu chu Pika Pikachu!" (I don't want to change, if I want to beat Raichu, I'm going to do it just as I am!)

(Pikachu shouts.)

Mew: "Really?"

(Mew asks, surprised.)

(Then Pikachu says.)

Pikachu: "Pika Pi Pika Pi Pika Pikachu!" (I'm going to fight in the name of all Pikachu!")

(Mew smiles and says.)

Mew: "Oh Pikachu."

[Outside...]

(Meowth is practically in tears to hear Pikachu's statement.)

(He happily says.)

Meowth: "It's so brave!"

James: "Tell us what Pikachu is saying!"

(James says.)

(Meowth translates.)

Meowth: "Pikachu won't change! If it's going to beat the Raichu, it wants to do it just as it is."

Jessie: "You mean it's going to battle as a Pikachu?"

(Jessie asks, surprised.)

Meowth: "It's going to fight in the name of all Pikachu."

(Meowth adds.)

(James begins to tear up.)

James: "Really?! That's so beautiful!"

(Misty asks.)

Misty: "Mew, what did Pikachu say?''"

Mew: "Pikachu says that he won't change. He is going to fight against Raichu the way he is. He actually said he's going to fight in the name of all Pikachu."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Wow, Pikachu's brave,"

(Misty says.)

(Mew then takes Pikachu's paws.)

Mew: "Pikachu, together, you and I will beat Lieutenant Surge and his Raichu!"

Pikachu: "Pika Pika!" (Yes, we will!)

(Pikachu says.)

Misty: "You're both crazy!"

(Misty says.)

Brock: "You should come up with a different strategy, Mew. Maybe use your other Pokemon."

(Brock replies.)

Mew: "It's hard, but it's not impossible! Pikachu and I will find a way to win!"

(Mew says.)

(Then Pikachu says.)

Pikachu: "Pika Pikachu Pika!" ("I'll prove I can beat Raichu! I'll defend me and Mew's honor!")

Jessie: "Huh?"

(Jessie says, confused.)

Meowth: "Pikachu will prove it can beat Raichu. It will defend its honor and Mew's!"

(Meowth translates.)

James: "Oh dear! That's magnificent!"

(James says, in tears.)

Mew: "Alright! Are we all charged up!"

(Mew says.)

Pikachu: "Pi!" (Yeah!)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee!" (You can beat them!)

(Eevee says.)

[Sometime later...]

(Mew along with Eevee and Pikachu are trying to come up with a plan to beat Lt. Surge and Raichu.)

Misty: "This whole thing has me nervous."

(Misty says.)

Mew: "Yeah. I'm worried about Pikachu, but I know we can beat it. We just need to come up with a plan," Mew says.

Misty: "I hope it'll be okay."

(Misty says.)

Mew: "Me too,"

(Mew says.)

(She then thinks.)

Mew: "Hmm, It feels that this Raichu seems to mostly use electric attacks and powerful attacks. Hmm… I wonder."

(After some rest, having food, and thinking at the Pokemon Center, Mew and the others begin to walk their way to the Vermilion Gym.)

(Of course, Pikachu, Eevee, and Mew are determined to win.)

Brock: "Seems like they're ready to win, doesn't it?"

(Brock says.)

(Misty nods their heads in reply.)

(The group continues to walk down the road and ready to fight against the Vermilion Gym Leader Lt. Surge.)

(Suddenly, they are stopped by three people dressed in black uniforms and wearing sunglasses, who are actually Team Rocket in disguise.)

(Confused, Mew asks.)

Mew: "Huh? Who are you guys?"

Jessie and James: To protect the world from devastation

Meowth: "Ixnay!"

(Meowth angrily says and smacks the two with a paper fan.)

Jessie and James: "We forgot!"

(The two panics.)

(Meowth lands on the ground and says.)

Meowth: "We're the challenger's cheerleaders, and we're here to show our support for the brave Pikachu and Mew!

Jessie and James: "Ra!"

(Jessie and James shout.)

Meowth: "In honor of the great Pikachu's bravery, we wish to offer a cheer!"

(Meowth adds.)

[Soon...]

(they all begin to cheer.)

(Making Pikachu call imitations, James is waving a flag, and Meowth is cheering as he waves two fans around.)

(Mew, along with her friends, are confused.)

(Meowth shouts.)

Meowth: "Hip Hip hooray!"

(Then they cheer waving fans.)

(After that, Meowth says.)

Meowth: "Okay, let's split."

(With that, Team Rocket runs away.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee." (That was weird)

(Eevee says, confused.)

Mew: "Eevee says that was weird."

(Mew says.)

Brock: "More like really disturbing."

(Brock says.)

Misty: "Thanks for your support!"

(Misty shouts.)

(Then Mew shouts.)

Mew: "Bye, Team Rocket!"

(Team Rocket is shocked and drops their disguises.)

Team Rocket: "Huh?"

Meowth: "How did they know it was us?"

(Meowth asks.)

Jessie: "Lucky guess."

(Jessie answers.)

(Soon enough, the group arrives at the Vermilion Gym.)

(The building has lighting bolts on the front.)

Mew: "So this is the Vermilion City gym."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Are you sure you guys are ready?"

(Misty asks.)

Mew: "Of course I am,"

(Mew says.)

(Then turns to her Pokemon.)

Mew: "And so is Pikachu.

(The doors open and they all enter.)

(Soon, they see two people dressed in black.)

(A man with a buzz cut hairstyle, and a girl with long burgundy hair.)

Mew: "Hello, I've come for a Pokemon battle to earn a Thunder badge."

(Mew says.)

(The young man turns his head back and says.)

The young man: "Hey, boss! Another victim for the emergency room.

(Just then, someone steps forward.)

???: "Which ones?"

(Mew and her friends are surprised to see the Gym leader is tall, muscular, and large.)

(He is wearing black shoes, dark brown pants with a vest open.)

(He also wears fingerless gloves with silver studs, and a chain around his neck attaching a tag.)

(He has light tan skin and blonde spiky hair.)

Brock: "Whoa! He's huge!"

(Brock says, shocked.)

Misty: "Is he the gym leader you two have to beat?"

(Misty asks, surprised.)

(Mew raises her hand nervously and says.)

Mew: "Um hello I'm Mew of Pallet Town and I come here to challenge you to earn a Thunder Badge."

Lt. Surge: "Well then, welcome to the Vermilion Gym, baby."

(The man, Lt. Surge says.)

(Then ruffles Mew's hair.)

Mew: "I'm not a baby!"

(Mew says, annoyed and puffs her cheeks.)

Lt. Surge: "Heh,' I call everyone who loses to me, baby."

(Lt. Surge says.)

(Suddenly, Pikachu angrily says.)

Pikachu: "Pika Pikachu! Pika Pika Pi Pikachu!" (Mew is no baby! She's a great trainer!)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee!" (Yeah. She's here to battle you!)

(Eevee says.)

(Lt. Surge and his colleagues look down to see Pikachu making an electric spark from his cheeks and look angry.)

(Eevee is not pleased herself.)

Lt. Surge: "Well well, a Pikachu and Eevee. A couple of baby Pokemon. And they got some guts."

(Lt. Surge says.)

Mew: "Hey! We're not babies!"

(Mew angrily says.)

Pikachu: "Pi Pikachu!" (That's right!)

(Pikachu angrily says.)

Eevee: "Eevee!" (Yeah! We're strong!)

(Eevee angrily says.)

(Lt. Surge holds out his Pokeball.)

Lt. Surge: "Looks like we're going to have an interesting opponent, but you're still going to lose."

Lt. Surge: "Go Raichu!"

(Lt. Surge says, throwing his Pokeball.)

(Then a large mouse Pokemon comes out.)

Raichu: "Raichu!"

(This Pokemon is covered in dark orange fur with a white belly.)

(Its bifurcated ears are brown on the outside, yellow on the insides, and end in a distinctive curl.)

(There is a circular yellow marking on each cheek where its electric sacs are, and it has a triangular, dark brown nose.)

(Its arms and feet have patches of brown fur at the end, and the soles of its long feet are tan with a circular orange pad in the center.)

(On its back are two horizontal brown stripes.)

(Its long, thin tail has a lightning bolt-shaped end.)

(Pikachu and Raichu glare at each other as they growl.)

Lt. Surge: "Okay, baby. If you wanna quit, now's your chance."

(Lt. Surge says.)

Raichu: "Raichu!" (Yeah!)

(Raichu says.)

Mew: "There's no way we're going to quit now."

(Mew says, determined.)

(But Lt. Surge says.)

Lt. Surge: "Hah! What could a baby like that do? If you want to become a Pokemon master, you should make your Pokemon evolve as soon as you catch it."

(Then pats Raichu on the head.)

(Mew kneels to Pikachu and Eevee.)

Mew: "There's more to raising a Pokemon than forcing it to evolve! And I like my Pokemon the way they are! It's their choice to evolve or not!"

(Soon, two members begin to laugh at them.)

Lt. Surge: "Wrong, baby. Electric Pokemon are only useful once they learned all their different electrical attacks. You keep it puny like that, it's no more than a little pet."

(Lt. Surge says.)

(This makes Pikachu really steamed, and Mew feels the same way.)

(This makes Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee really angry.)

Misty: "Can Mew and Pikachu really beat Raichu?"

(Misty wonders.)

Brock: "I'm not sure. That Raichu is very strong, especially since it knows all of its electrical attacks."

(Brock says.)

(Mew stands up.)

Mew: "Ready Pikachu!"

Pikachu: "Pikachu," (I'm ready)

(Pikachu says.)

(Raichu shrugs his shoulders.)

(Lt. Surge does the same.)

Lt. Surge: "Oh well. I guess you'll learn that playing with the big boys can be a shocking experience."

(Just then, the lights turn on, Mew and Pikachu stand on one side of the ring, while Surge and Raichu stand on the other.)

(Misty and Brock stand and watch.)

(The announcer says.)

The announcer: "The Pokemon battle will now begin. Only one Pokemon may be used. The gym leader, Lt. Surge has chosen Raichu. The challenger, Mew, has chosen Pikachu. No time limit! Let the battle begin!"

(Then the bell rings.)

(Lt. Surge calls out.)

Lt. Surge: "Go Raichu!"

Raichu: "Rai!"

(Raichu calls out going to the battle.)

Mew: "Go Pikachu!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Pikachu jumps in.)

Pikachu: "Pika!"

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Pikachu, Thunder Shock!"

(Pikachu cries out as it unleashes a Thunder Shock, but it doesn't affect Raichu much to Mew and Pikachu's shock.)

(Lt. Surge then calls out.)

Lt. Surge: "Raichu! Give it a real Thunder Shock!"

(Raichu then gives off a powerful Thunder Shock and strikes Pikachu.)

(Pikachu falls, and yet, it's able to get up.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Pikachu, are you okay?"

Pikachu: "Pika," (I'm okay.)

(Pikachu answers, nodding his head.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Alright Pikachu, time for a different approach."

Pikachu: "Pika!" (Right!)

(Pikachu says.)

(Pikachu runs to Raichu and tries to jump up, but Raichu counters with its tail.)

(Mew and the others become shocked.)

(Pikachu rolls over to the ground, but before he has the chance, Raichu uses its tail to keep it down.)

(Mew cries out.)

Mew: "Pikachu!

Misty: "Hang in there, Pikachu!"

(Misty calls out.)

Brock: "Pull to the side and break away!"

(Brock calls out.)

[Meanwhile...]

(Team Rocket is spying on the match.)

Jessie: "It can't lose!"

(Jessie panics.)

Meowth: "Not after the cheer we did!"

(Meowth adds.)

(Then James wonders.)

James: "Maybe we did the wrong kind of cheer."

(Lt. Surge then calls out.)

Lt. Surge: "Do it, Raichu! Give it the Body Slam!"

(Then Raichu lands on top of Pikachu, making the heroes gasp in shock.)

(Mew is desperately thinking of a way to figure out on how to defeat Lt. Surge.)

Mew: "I have to think of something. We need to find a way to beat Lt. Surge, but what can we do?"

(Mew wonders.)

(Suddenly, she remembers all the attacks that Raichu has.)

(And then remembers before the battle, she remembers Lt. Surge says statements about Pokemon are good when they evolve.)

(Mew gasps and realizes.)

Mew: "Wait, if what I think it's possible. Lt. Surge must have evolved his Raichu when he first got it, and if that's possible… then maybe…"

[Suddenly...]

(Lt. Surge says.)

Lt. Surge: "Finish it off, Raichu! Another Body Slam!"

(Raichu leaps in the air and begins to dive down for a massive Body Slam.)

(Everyone screams.)

Everyone: "Pikachu!"

(Even Eevee screams.)

Eevee: "Eevee!" (Pikachu!)

Mew: "Watch out!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Suddenly, Pikachu quickly moves out of the way and lands on it's feet.)

Lt. Surge: "Hey what?"

(Lt. Surge says, confused.)

(Mew then calls out.)

Mew: "Alright, Pikachu! Agility, now!"

(Pikachu then begins to use his speed to run from one direction to another.)

(Then Lt. Surge calls out.)

Lt. Surge: "Raichu! Use your Body Slam!"

(Raichu then tries to Body Slam Pikachu, but Pikachu continues to dodge out of the way.)

(Confused, Lt. Surge says.)

Lt. Surge: "Uh, Raichu?"

Mew: "You're doing great Pikachu!"

(Mew calls out.)

Misty: "Wow! Mew must have come up with a strategy. Raichu can't tough Pikachu."

(Misty says.)

Brock: "I think Mew found out how to beat Raichu."

(Brock says.)

Misty: "How?"

(Misty asks.)

(Brock explains.)

Brock: "Raichu evolved too fast, and it never learned the speed attacks it could only learn in the Pikachu stage! Mew must have figured out and used it to turn the tables on this match.

(Mew then calls out.)

Mew: "Okay! Use all the Agility you got!"

(Pikachu uses his speed even faster and runs around Raichu.)

(Pikachu continues to circle around that surprises Raichu.)

(Soon the evolved Mouse Pokemon is beginning to get dizzy.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Your Raichu way too slow, Lt. Surge! That's it's weakness!"

(Lt. Surge calls out clutching his fist.)

Lt. Surge: "Okay, Raichu! Give it a Thunderbolt! Shut it down!"

(Soon, Raichu uses his most powerful attack and spreads it across the gym.)

(Soon, parts of the ground began to break.)

(Mew screams.)

Mew: "Pikachu.

(Some of the debris spread out and the electricity breaks all the windows around the gym.)

(Team Rocket also duck their heads from the attack.)

(Soon, many of the smoke clears out.)

Lt. Surge: "The end of the match!"

(Lt. Surge says with a smirk.)

(But he notices something isn't right.)

(What he sees is Pikachu standing on his tail.)

Lt. Surge: "What?"

(Lt. Surge says, confused.)

(Mew happily cheers.)

Mew: "Pikachu!"

Brock: "Alright! Way to go! It used his tail as a ground to dodge the electric shock."

(Brock says.)

(Outside, Team Rocket is impressed too.)

Jessie: "What a shocking story!"

(Jessie says.)

James: "That was quite a 'tail'."

(James says, holding Koffing.)

Meowth: "Meowth!"

(Meowth shouts, and attacks them.)

Meowth: "And now you've both been 'punished."

(Meowth says, then chuckles with pride.)

Koffing: "Koffing," (Good one.)

(Koffing agrees.)

(Pikachu jumps off the wall and lands on its feet.)

(Raichu is still standing and is taking deep breaths.)

(Lt. Surge calls out.)

Lt. Surge: "Raichu, give it another Thunderbolt!"

(Raichu then tries to use another Thunderbolt.)

(So far nothing.)

(It tries again, but nothing happens.)

(Confused, Lt. Surge calls out.)

Lt. Surge: "Do something!"

Brock: "It's over! Raichu ran out of electricity."

(Brock says.)

(Seeing her chance, Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Alright! Pikachu use Quick Attack!"

(Pikachu then uses Quick Attack.)

(Lt. Surge then calls out.)

Lt. Surge: "Raichu! Take Down, now!"

(Raichu tries to grab Pikachu, but Pikachu jumps and slams right into Raichu's stomach.)

(Then charging up electricity on his tail, Pikachu swings it and smacks Raichu with it.)

(Raichu falls to the ground with swirly eyes, and the results are in.)

(Lt. Surge exclaims.)

Lt. Surge: "Unbelievable!"

[Soon...]

(Raichu is knocked out, meaning the match is over.)

(Mew cheers.)

Mew: "We did it, Pikachu!"

(Brock cheers.)

Brock: "Way to go!"

Misty: "Fantastic!"

(Misty happily says.)

(Even Team Rocket cheers.)

Jessie and James: "Hooray!"

Meowth: "Victory!"

(Meowth cheers.)

(Pikachu smiles and says.)

Pikachu: "Pikachu."

(After the battle, Lt. Surge and Mew shake hands.)

Lt. Surge: "Congratulations. Nice job, Mew, Pikachu!"

(Lt. Surge says.)

Lt. Surge: "As proof of your victory, a Thunder badge."

(Lt. Surge says, bringing out the Thunder Badge.)

(Mew takes the badge and says.)

Mew: "Thank you."

(Mew looks at the palm of her hand to see the Thunder badge.)

(The badge is an eight pointed gold stay with an orange octagon in the center.)

(Mew turns to Pikachu and happily says.)

Mew: "We did it Pikachu, we got a Thunder Badge."

Pikachu: "Pika," (Yeah.)

(Pikachu says.)

Lt. Surge: "You should be proud. You and your Pikachu really fought good together."

(Lt. Surge says.)

Mew: "Thanks,"

(Mew happily says.)

Pikachu: "Pika Pikachu! (Alright!)

(Pikachu happily says.)

(Lt. Surge and his two colleagues clap for Mew and Pikachu's victory.)

Lt. Surge: "Nice victory, kid! You're no baby!"

(Lt. Surge says.)

(Misty and Brock clap for Mew and Pikachu.)

Brock: "Congratulations, Mew."

(Brock says.)

Misty: "You got your third badge."

(Misty says.)

Raichu: "Rai rai rai!" (You did good, kid!)

(Raichu says to Pikachu.)

Pikachu: "Pika!" (Thank you.)

(Pikachu says.)

(Mew picks up Pikachu and hugs him.)

Mew: "Thanks Pikachu, this is your victory as well."

(She then hugs Pikachu with a smile.)

(Soon, Pikachu unleashes a thunderbolt on Mew.)

(Mew isn't affected, in fact, she is very happy.)

(Misty giggles and says.)

Misty: "Those two make quite the team!"

Brock: "Yes indeed,"

(Brock says.)

(Soon Mew and Pikachu begin laughing with glee, and soon, everyone begins laughing with glee.)

(Eevee then hops on Mew's shoulder congratulating Mew for her victory.)

(In the evening, Team Rocket are happy for Pikachu and Mew's victory.)

James: "That Pikachu really is special!"

(James says.)

Jessie: "That's why it's worth snatching."

(Jessie says.)

(Then Meowth says.)

Meowth: "Hey! Once we steal it, maybe we can earn our own badges!"

(Mew and Pikachu have won a Thunder Badge, and in an impressive performance.)

(Of course, they are one step closer to being part of the Pokemon League, but still have ways to go for their goal, including Team Rocket.)

(And so, the adventure continues.)

(Suddenly, James realizes.)

James: "Drat! We spent this whole time cheering for the good guys!"

(Jessie and Meowth stop to realize James is right.)

(As the journey continues.)
