Chapter 11: Here Comes the Squirtle Squad

(Mew along with her friends are now walking on the open road as they continue their journey to Vermilion City.)

(Their group has gotten bigger because they not only rescued an Abandoned Charmander, but all the Pokemon who have been treated badly by their previous trainer.)

(As they walk down the road, Mew notices that a bit of the road feels like it's being pushed down.)

(Mew holds out her arm in front of her friends.)

Mew: "Hold on."

(The group stop in their tracks.)

Misty: "What is it, Mew?"

(Misty asks.)

Mew: "This part of the road doesn't feel right."

(Mew says.)

[Suddenly...]

(the ground gives weight and they all fall down into the hole.)

(Misty complains.)

Misty: "No! Not another hole!"

Brock: "Ow! I landed on my head!"

(Brock shouts.)

(Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee groan in pain.)

Mew: "Who on earth will build a pit trap in the middle of the road?"

(Mew questions.)

Brock: "It must be a prank,"

(Brock says.)

Misty: "Someone has a bad sense of humor."

(Misty adds.)

Mew: "Who would play such a rotten trick? Besides Team Rocket."

(Mew questions.)

[Suddenly...]

(five small Pokemon stick their head from above the hole and begin laughing.)

(They are small light blue turtle Pokemon with short legs, with a shell, brown on top and yellow on the bottom.)

(All of them are wearing sunglasses though the rest around round one is triangular.)

(What's more, they're laughing at Mew and her friends.)

Brock: "Who are you?!"

(Brock demands.)

Misty: "What's so funny? We could have been hurt!"

(Misty says.)

(The Pokemon continue to laugh.)

(Mew is the first to climb out of the hole.)

Mew: "Dangerous practical jokes are nothing to laugh about!"

(On her back are Eevee and Pikachu.)

Pikachu: "Pikachu!" (I agree!)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee!" (That wasn't very nice you know!)

(Eevee adds.)

(Brock and Misty climb out as well.)

(There they see the five turtle Pokémon laughing at them for the joke they pull.)

(Mew says.)

Mew: "Those are Squirtle's."

(Mew brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says.)

Dexter: "Squirtle, the Tiny Turtle Pokemon. A Water Type. It draws its long neck into its shell to launch incredible water attacks with amazing range and accuracy. The blasts can be quite powerful."

Mew: "And those Squirtle aren't being very nice."

(Mew says.)

(Then calls out.)

Mew: "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"

(Pikachu then launches a Thunderbolt.)

(Shocking, one of the Squirtle takes the zap for its leader and falls to the ground.)

(The Leader Squirtle turns to his comrade.)

Leader Squirtle: "Squirtle Squirtle?" (Are you okay?)

[Soon...]

(Pikachu, Eevee, and Squirtle are staring down at each other, almost like the old west.)

(They each wait for which to make the next move.)

(Suddenly, they begin to hear police sirens in the distance.)

(The Leader Squirtle turns to his gang.)

Leader Squirtle: "Squirtle Squirtle! Squirtle Squirtle Squirtle!" (It's the cops! Let's retreat for now!)

(The Squirtles pick up their injured comrade and runs away at full speed.)

Mew: "That was sure weird."

(Mew says.)

(The group look to see the source of the siren is Officer Jenny on a motorbike.)

(Jenny asks.)

Officer Jenny: "Are you guys alright? Has anyone been hurt here?"

Mew: "Officer Jenny!"

(Mew says.)

(Confused Jenny asks.)

Officer Jenny: "Huh? Have we met before? Your faces don't look familiar."

Mew: "Are you Officer Jenny of Viridian City or Cerulean City or another relative?"

(Mew asks.)

Officer Jenny: "I am sure, the ones you met are my cousins."

(Jenny says.)

Mew: "Cousins?"

(Mew says, confused.)

Officer Jenny: "My cousins are all police officers, all of us look identical, plus we're all named Jenny."

(Jenny says.)

(Mew can imagine a photograph of a lot of Jennys who look exactly the same.)

Mew: "Talk about family resemblance."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "At least they remember all their names."

(Misty replies.)

(Soon, Mew and her friends arrive at the Police Center and explains to her what happened and how they meet the Gang of Squirtle's.)

Officer Jenny: "That Pokemon gang calls itself the Squirtle Squad."

(Jenny says.)

Mew: "Squirtle Squad?"

(Mew says.)

Misty: "I've never heard of a Pokemon gang."

(Misty says, sounding surprised.)

Officer Jenny: "They're all Squirtle's who were deserted by their trainers."

(Jenny says.)

Mew: "Deserted?"

(Mew asks, feeling concern.)

Officer Jenny: "They don't have a trainer so they just run wild and play tricks on the whole town. It's really kind of sad because if they had somebody to care about them, they wouldn't have turned out to be as bad as they are. It's a real shame."

(Jenny explains.)

(Mew feels sad for the Squirtle.)

(It's like what happened to Bulbasaur and Charmander.)

(They've been abandoned by their trainers for different reasons.)

[Later on...]

(Mew and her friends arrive at a lake so they can rest.)

(Brock is laying on the grass while Pikachu and Eevee are resting.)

(Misty is also doing some fishing in the river.)

(Mew feels a little sad as she has her hands on her cheeks and her elbows on her knees.)

(She lets out a sad sigh.)

(Misty turns to Mew and asks.)

Misty: "What's wrong, Mew?"

Mew: "I feel bad about the Squirtle Squad. The only reason why they were playing those tricks was because they felt that they can't trust humans. Not after what their former trainers did."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Yeah. It's very sad. Kind of makes me wish we could catch the Squirtle's and raise them myself."

(Misty says.)

Mew: "I was thinking the same thing, but it might not be easy to get near the Squirtle Squad since they don't seem to trust humans, and we don't even know where to find them."

(Mew says.)

Brock: "I'm sure we'll find them somehow."

(Brock says.)

(As Misty is fishing at the lake, one of the Squirtle Squad members pops its head out of the water.)

(Misty thinks she catches it.)

Misty: "I caught something!"

(Pikachu, Eevee, and Mew look to see one of the Squirtle's that fires a Water Gun at them.)

(Then laughs at them.)

(Soaked, Misty says.)

Misty: "I'm soaked!"

Mew: "Me too,"

(Mew replies.)

(Pikachu then runs forward and gives an electric shock at the Squirtle.)

(However, because Mew and the others are wet, water conducts electricity.)

(And so, Mew and the others are shocked too.)

(Mew screams.)

Mew: "Knock it off, Pikachu!"

(Pikachu stops to see his little accident.)

(Then the group falls to the ground.)

Brock: "Wet clothes conduct electricity."

(Brock says.)

(Squirtle continues to laugh and jumps out of the water, and on the road.)

(Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee stand in front of the Squirtle.)

Mew: "Alright we've had enough of your pranks, Squirtle!"

(Mew says.)

(Then calls out.)

Mew: "Let's get it, Pikachu."

Pikachu: "Pika!" (" ")

(Pikachu says and charges.)

(Squirtle suddenly jumps up and ducks its head into its shell.)

(Then begins to start spinning and towards Pikachu.)

(Mew panics.)

Mew: "Pikachu, look out! It's the Rapid Spin attack!"

(The attack strikes at Pikachu, and Pikachu falls into the water.)

Mew: "Pikachu!"

(Mew panics.)

(Pikachu is able to swim up to the surface.)

(Suddenly, Goldeen appears.)

(Misty panics.)

Misty: "Oh! It's a Goldeen! Watch out for its horn!"

(Pikachu swims up to the surface to see the Goldeen.)

Mew: "Swim to shore Pikachu! Hurry up!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Pikachu then begins to swim as fast as he can.)

Mew: "Faster! Faster!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Pikachu continues to swim as fast as it, but not enough to get away from the Goldeen.)

(Eevee then rushes to the water and performs the Iron Tail at the Iron Horn.)

(The horn is proven to be strong enough that it knocks Eevee down and on to land.)

(Then it does the same to Pikachu.)

Mew: "Pikachu! Eevee!"

(Mew exclaims.)

(She then rushes to Pikachu and Eevee, and picks them up in her arms.)

(Suddenly, she ends up getting caught by a lasso.)

(She turns her head to see Brock and Misty have also been caught.)

Mew: "They got us!"

(Mew says, shocked.)

(The three Squirtle then run around in a circle and have the five friends tied together.)

(Soon, the Squirtle's start laughing.)

(Mew and her friends are not amused about this.)

(Later on, all five of them are tied to a boulder and no hope of escaping.)

(The Squirtle Squad are digging in their backpacks and begin to eat their supplies.)

Misty: "Wow. When was the last time they ate?"

(Misty wonders.)

Brock: "Must have been a while if they're eating so much and share it among themselves."

(Brock says.)

Mew: "I'm worried about Eevee and Pikachu. They're still hurt from the Goldeen attacking them like that."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Yeah. We need to get out and get them to a Pokemon Center."

(Misty says.)

Brock: "But how?"

(Brock wonders.)

(The Squirtles continue to search through the bags to find any food.)

[Suddenly...]

(one of the Squad members taps on one of Mew's Pokeballs, and little Ponyta comes out of it.)

(They all scream in surprise to see a Pokemon has been released.)

Mew: "Hi Ponyta,"

(Mew calls out.)

(The Galarian Ponyta turns her head to see her new trainer and her friends tied up.)

(She also notices Pikachu and Eevee are badly hurt.)

(She walks over to them and places her front hooves on the stone wall.)

(She then places her horn in front of Pikachu and uses some kind of glowing ability on Pikachu.)

(To Mew and the others' surprise, Pikachu's wounds are healing.)

[A moment later...]

(Pikachu wakes up and feels better.)

(Then the little Ponyta does the same for Eevee, and Eevee is all healed.)

(Mew happily calls out.)

Mew: "Pikachu! Eevee!"

(Pikachu and Eevee turn to Mew and smile to see she and the others are okay.)

(They also soon notice they are tied by the rope, and begin to bite into them.)

(With both Pokémon together, they soon break through the ropes.)

(Once free, Pikachu and Eevee jump on Mew's shoulders.)

Mew: "Pikachu and Eevee are all better."

(Mew says happily.)

Brock: "It's because of Ponyta's horn."

(Brock says.)

Misty: "Ponyta's horn?"

(Misty says, confused.)

(Mew says.)

Mew: "I think I remember reading in a… a book once. Apparently the Galarian Ponyta's and its evolved form have an ability called Heal Pulse, but…"

Misty: "But what?"

(Misty asks.)

Mew: "It's strange because my Ponyta is very young and it's been days since I got it and it was born recently. A Ponyta's shouldn't be able to know Heal Pulse at this time."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Maybe it just learned it."

(Misty says.)

Brock: "Could be, but Ponyta is still very young to learn that move."

(Brock says.)

[Suddenly...]

(Mew feels something tapping her leg.)

(She looks down to see the Leader Squirtle looking at her with a firm expression.)

(Mew kneels to Squirtle and asks.)

Mew: "What is it, Squirtle?"

Leader Squirtle: "Squirtle Squirtle Squirtle? Squirtle Squirtle?" (What kind of Pokémon is that? Where did it come from?)

(Leader Squirtle asks.)

(Misty asks.)

Misty: "What did it say?"

Mew: "The Leader Squirtle is asking about my Galarian Ponyta like what it is and where it came from."

(Mew translation.)

Brock: "Make scenes, Galarian Ponyta's aren't from around here."

(Brock says.)

(The Leader Squirtle asks.)

Leader Squirtle: "Squirt? Squirtle Squirtle Squirtle, Squirtle Squirtle Squirtle?" (Excuse me? The one with the teal hair, are you saying that you can understand us?)"

Mew: "Um yeah. I can understand Pokemon."

(Mew replies.)

(The Squirtle Squad becomes surprised to hear this.)

(A Human who can actually understand Pokemon.)

Mew: "I know it's a bit surprising, but even I'm not sure how I'm able to do it. I just do."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "And Mew is also raised by Pokemon, let's not forget that."

(Misty says.)

Brock: "And she really cares about Pokemon."

(Brock says.)

Pikachu: "Pika," (That's true.)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee," (Mew is a very special and kind person.)

(Eevee says.)

(The Galarian Ponyta neighs with a smile on her face.)

(Hearing those comments make Mew blushes a bit.)

(The Squirtle Squad soon takes an interest in humans, especially Mew.)

(They wonder if there are humans like her who are kind to Pokemon.)

(Suddenly, the Squirtle Squad's stomachs begin to growl again, catching Mew and her friends' attention.)

Misty: "They're still hungry?"

(Misty asks.)

Brock: "They must have not eaten for a while."

(Brock says.)

(The Squirtle's nod their heads in reply.)

(Mew smiles and says.)

Mew: "How about we make them something to eat?"

(The Squirtle Squad look at each other with skepticism.)

Brock: "Yeah. I think we should still have enough to make something for everyone."

(Brock says.)

(Mew then asks the Squirtle Squad.)

Mew: "You don't mind if we make you something to eat?"

(The Squirtle Squad look at each other with thoughts in their mind.)

(Then they turn to the human trainers and nod their heads in reply.)

Leader Squirtle: "Squirtle Squirtle Squirtle Squirtle. Squirtle Squirtle Squirtle Squirtle?" (Okay, you'll make us some food. If it's not good then your red-haired girl here is getting her hair dyed purple, understand?)

(The Leader Squirtle says.)

(Mew nervously smiles and says.)

Mew: "Um sure, but I'm not sure if Misty will like that."

Misty: "What do you mean?"

(Misty asks, curiously.)

(Mew turns to Misty and translates.)

Mew: "The Leader Squirtle says that they'll let us make the food, but if it's not good then they'll dye your hair purple."

(This shocked Misty.)

Misty: "PURPLE?! If they think I'm going to let them dye my hair purple, they're crazy!"

Brock: "Then I guess we better get started."

(Brock says.)

(Mew nods her head.)

Mew: "Right."

[Meanwhile...]

(in one of the stores, the people in there are buying some food, supplies and such.)

(Suddenly, the doors burst open to reveal Team Rocket.)

(Jessie shouts holding a bazooka.)

Jessie: "Alright, freeze!"

James: "These are ice packs we're gunning. I mean, ice guns we're packing!"

(James says, holding a gun.)

(One of the customers exclaims.)

customer: "It's Team Rocket!"

Jessie: "Cool. We're just like those super villains in the comic books, except better looking."

(Jessie says.)

(Then James says.)

James: "And even meaner."

(Then Jessie says.)

Jessie: "Listen up! We want all the flash powder you've got!"

James: "And a large roll of dental floss,"

(James adds.)

The shop owner: "What do you need them for?"

(The shop owner asks.)

Jessie: "You want to get rid of the Squirtle Squad, don't you? The flash powder will scare them out of town! The floss is for our teeth."

(Jessie says.)

[Soon enough...]

(Jessie and James walk out of the store.)

(James carries the box of flash powder while Jessie holds the Bazooka.)

James: "Ciao, for now,"

(James says.)

Jessie: "Farewell!"

(Jessie says, and fires the weapon in the store.)

(Surprisingly what explodes in the store are white confetti or flower petals.)

(Team Rocket hurries to the Balloon where Meowth is at.)

Meowth: "Hurry guys, before the cops come!"

(Meowth says.)

Jessie and James: "We know Meowth,"

(Jessie and James say.)

(They climb inside the balloon basket and the Balloon carries them away from the area.)

(Jessie laughs.)

Jessie: "Hahahaha This is perfect. We'll use the flash powder to get rid of the Squirtle Squad and grab the twerps Pokemon to boot."

James: "It's a good thing we saw them getting carried away by this Squirtle Squad when we did. And we know exactly where they are."

(James says.)

Meowth: "And then, we can swipe all their Pokemon."

(Meowth says.)

(Back at the cave, Mew and Brock have finished making food for all humans and Pokemon.)

(The Squirtle Squad are amazed and begin to eat the food, and they're delicious.)

(Soon, everyone begins to eat the food as well.)

(Mew smiles and says.)

Mew: "I see you like the food, huh."

The four Squirtle's: "Squirtle," (Yeah, it's great.)

(The four Squirtle's happily say.)

(Then says.)

Squirtle: "Squirtle Squirtle Squirtle." (Yeah. Truth is, we were bluffing about dying her friends' hair purple.)

Mew: "Really?"

(Mew asks, surprised.)

(Surprised Eevee asks.)

Eevee: "Eevee?" (You were joking?)

Leader Squirtle: "Squirtle. Squirtle Squirtle, Squirtle," (Yeah. We play tricks, but we don't mess with people like that, especially girls,)

(The Leader Squirtle says.)

Pikachu: "Pika," (I'm surprised.)

(Pikachu replies.)

Brock: "What did they say?"

(Brock asks.)

Mew: "Turns out the Squirtle was bluffing about dying Misty's hair purple."

(Mew translates.)

Misty: "Really? That's good."

(Misty says, relieved.)

(Mew nods her head.)

Mew: "Yeah. They said, they play tricks, but they'd never change a girl's natural hair color."

(The Squirtle Squad begin laughing.)

Misty: "Talk about a bunch of little pranksters."

(Misty giggles.)

[Soon...]

(Mew and her friends begin laughing as well.)

(Suddenly, they hear a loud explosion, catching the groups by surprise.)

(Mew asks.)

Mew: "What was that?"

Misty: "It came from outside."

(Misty says.)

(Mew and her friends hurry outside to see the Meowth hot air balloon, and a familiar group of Pokemon thieves.)

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation.

James: To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James: To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie: Jessie.

James: James.

Brock: "It's Team Rocket!"

(Brock says.)

Mew: "They're at it again,"

(Mew replies.)

Jessie: "Squirtle Squad, it's time to say your farewell."

(Jessie says.)

Jessie and James: "Bombs away!"

(Jessie and James say and drop the bombs to them.)

(Soon, the bombs begin to explode around the canyon, shocking the humans and Pokemon.)

(Team Rocket continues to throw their bombs down below to blast them.)

Mew: "Quick! Run for cover! Head for the cave!"

(Mew screams.)

Misty: "Hurry!"

(Misty screams.)

(The group runs to the cave as fast as they can.)

(Mew quickly turns her head to see the Leader Squirtle is on his back and struggles to get back up.)

Mew: "Squirtle!"

(Mew screams.)

(Mew hurries to help Squirtle, but Team Rocket throws two more bombs from the tree..)

(Mew runs and reaches for Squirtle.)

Mew: "Squirtle!"

(Mew lands on top of Leader Squirtle as the bombs go off sending out a large explosion.)

Misty: "Ah! Mew!"

(Misty panics.)

Pikachu and Eevee: "Pika!/Eev!" (MEW!)

(Pikachu and Eevee panic.)

(The dust clears off to see Mew and the Leader Squirtle are okay, but are covered in dust and bruises.)

(Mew grunts in pain as she asks.)

Mew: "Hey, Squirtle. Are you okay?"

Leader Squirtle: "Squirtle," (You saved me,)

(Leader Squirtle says, astonished.)

(Just then, Team Rocket throws two more bombs off the balloon basket.)

(Misty screams.)

Misty: "Here come two more!"

(Mew says.)

Mew: "Save yourself, Squirtle. Run for it."

(This makes Squirtle more surprised.)

[The next moment...]

(Squirtle lifts Mew in the air with tears from his eyes as he screams.)

Squirtle: "Squirtle!"

Mew: "Squirtle?!"

(Mew says, surprised.)

(Squirtle carries Mew high above his head and runs off as the bombs explode.)

(Then jumps high in the air as he carries his savior.)

Misty: "Look out!"

(Misty calls out.)

(Mew and Squirtle crash into the cave as they are caught by the others.)

(From above in the balloon, Team Rocket doesn't see the Squirtle Squad or Mew and the others.)

Jessie: "No more Squirtle Squad! The town's gonna give us medals and we'll be heroes!"

(Jessie says.)

(Suddenly Mew's voice calls out.)

Mew: "Not so fast!"

Jessie: "Who said that?"

(Jessie says, confused.)

(They soon look up to see Mew, Pikachu, Eevee, and Squirtle on the top of the canyon.)

(Confused, Jessie asks.)

Jessie: "Weren't they?"

James: "Didn't they?"

(James says, shock.)

(Meowth asks.)

Meowth: "How did they?"

Mew: "Squirtle, Water Gun attack! Pikachu, use Thunderbolt! Eevee use Swift!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Pikachu, Eevee, and the Leader Squirtle answer.)

Pikachu, Eevee, and the Leader Squirtle: "Pikachu/Eevee/Squirtle." (Our pleasure.)

(Pikachu, Eevee, and Leader Squirtle use their powers at Team Rocket.)

(When they combine, they become a powerful attack.)

(The attack destroyed the balloon, and electrocuted Team Rocket in the process.)

(Soon, Team Rocket is being blown away.)

(Team Rocket screams.)

Team Rocket: "Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

(Soon, the smoke begins to rise even more, and is now causing the forest fire close by.)

(Soon, Mew and the others notice.)

Brock: "A fire The blast must have set it off."

(Brock says.)

(Just then Officer Jenny arrives at the scene and says.)

Officer Jenny: "If it keeps burning, the whole town could go up in smoke!"

Mew: "Don't worry Jenny. I've got an idea."

(Mew says.)

(Jenny becomes a bit confused.)

(Mew then turns to the Leader Squirtle and his gang.)

Mew: "Listen. If you Squirtle's work together, you can combine your Water Guns to put out the fire!"

(The Squirtle Squad nod their heads and get to work putting out the fire.)

(Soon, the Squirtle Squad put out the fire and saved the forest and the town.)

(After that, a ceremony is being held and Officer Jenny gives the Squirtle Squad a certificate.)

Officer Jenny: "And so, we gratefully award this certificate to the Squirtle Squad. Thank you all for saving our town from the fire. Because of your skill and bravery, we proudly appoint the Squirtle Squad the town firefighters."

(Jenny announces.)

(Soon, the Towns people gave the Squirtle Squad black and white color jackets and one is carrying a pole with white and black ribbons.)

(Leader Squirtle crosses his arms and says.)

Leader Squirtle: "Squirtle."

[Sometime later...]

(Mew and her friends are walking down the path.)

(Pikachu and Eevee are also happily walking on the path.)

(Misty looks behind her and says.)

Misty: "Hey Mew, that Squirtle is following us."

(Soon enough, Mew and her friends turn to see the Leader Squirtle of the Squirtle Squad.)

(Squirtle calls out.)

Squirtle: "Squirtle! Squirtle! (Hang on! Wait up!)

(Mew turns to Squirtle and asks.)

Mew: "Would you like to come along with us, Squirtle?"

Squirtle: "Squirtle," (Of course.)

(Squirtle answers.)

(Squirtle removes his sunglasses to reveal the purplish red color eyes and is showing a big smile.)

(Mew bends down as Squirtle runs into Mew's arms.)

Mew: "Welcome to the team, Squirtle!"

(Mew happily says.)

Squirtle: "Squirtle," (Thank you.)

(Squirtle says.)

Mew: "Guess I've caught a new Pokemon!"

(Mew happily says.)

Pikachu: "Pika!" (Alright!)

(Pikachu cheers.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee." (Welcome Squirtle.)

(Eevee happily says.)

Misty: "Caught? What do you mean by caught?"

(Misty asks, confused.)

(Brock laughs.)

Brock: "Mew caught Squirtle, right into her arms."

Misty: "I suppose you're right,"

(Misty says.)

Mew: "Yeah,"

(Mew says.)

(The group begins laughing with smiles on their faces.)

(With a brand new Pokemon on their side, Mew's family has gotten bigger.)

(And so, they continue to travel to Vermilion City.)

(As the Journey continues.)
