Tilly had let Cora know that she was sending over her doctor later that afternoon so they could be sure of how close she was to delivery. The doctor arrived as promise around three that afternoon. He gave Cora a thorough check-up. He was mildly alarmed that Cora had only been seen once during the pregnancy.
He measured the baby at nearly thirty-seven weeks. Doctor Colle explained that the baby could show up pretty much any time though he expected it to be at least another week. He gave Cora his card and urged her to call if anything seemed out of the ordinary or she began to have contractions. Before the doctor left, he told Cora how to count and time her contractions. He told her what to look for and welcomed her to France.
Cora asked Dr. Colle if the delivery was like a human delivery. He said it was though a bit harder since her body changed less easily. He patted her hand and told her that everything would be fine before leaving.
