They stood in front of the Qing house in a comfortable silence. Xi Ming looked at Ye Jin, reluctant to let go of her hand intertwined with his. But he had to, so she could get home safely before it got really dark.

He would have offered to walk her, but Qing Yu would soon be back, and while he hadn't beaten him in a long time, he still starved him and occasionally locked him in the storage room at night when he was angry.

"I think this is where I say goodbye?" Ye Jin said, breaking the silence.

"Umm," Xi Ming muttered, almost hesitating, his voice soft and vulnerable. "Can I... have a hug?"

Xi Ming felt that tingling sensation again, his strong desire for all of her. He couldn't pinpoint what the feeling meant, but all he knew was that he liked it, he enjoyed it.

Xi Ming's grip tightened around her waist, not wanting to let go.

"I wish we could be like this forever," he whispered.
