King Wallace stared at the letter before him with trembling hands. His worst nightmare had come to pass, and he couldn't do anything about it. Edmund had captured Lucian, and he could tell that this wasn't a bluff. His guts could feel that Edmund wasn't playing around, and it terrified him even more.

His heart pounded in his chest as he read the words again, hoping that somehow he had misunderstood. But the message was clear, his son was in Edmund's grasp. The king's mind raced, torn between anger and fear. He knew Edmund, and he was sure of what the man could do.
