Kapitel 18: Centurion
The rain pounded on the surface of the black cliff, the wind howled a long screech. The trio were terrified, they had only just escaped one danger to be met by another.
Sunny had told them what Alan said, "There's a monster on this island". The girls stared in shock, even Nephis the stoic woman seemed shocked. For such a thing to happen to them they must have some really bad luck,
The two girls looked at Sunny trying to figure out id he was pulling some cruel, cruel joke on them. He wasn't, and to be sure he even sent his shadow out higher up the cliff to search for the 'monster'.
And when he did his jaw slacked, The beast was way taller than any Scavenger he had ever seen. He had recognised this beast, it was one of the swarm which enshrouded the dead abominations carcass.
Sunny then turned to confirm it to the two girls, "up there..." he said while pointing up. A useless action as only he could see in the dark out of the trio, Nephis seemed to understand.
Her plan would have to wait until later.
Nephis began to talk, "We need a plan, well use the darkness and Sunny's useful aspect to surprise attack it." she said shockingly fluently, shes making progress!
But it wasn't time to revel in her new found speaking ability's, they still had to deal with the Monster which resided above them. They decided to go along with the plan using sunny as bait to lure the creature out, while nephis came in from behind and attacked it.
Having settled their minds the two left cassie alone and headed to where the monster was situated, Climbing the slippery cliff until they arrived at the level the monster was situated. Steadying their feet the began in the direction of the monster eventually Nephis found a tall rock formation on the cliff and hid behind it, summoning her sword she took her position and waited patiently for the signal.
Sunny however summoned his sword, "Ahem". Alan's sword and began to shout, "Over here you oversized crab!!" At this the beast began at a terrifyingly fast pace increasing in speed over time, eventually sunny came toe to toe with the beast.
At the sight of Sunny it let out a large guttural roar and raised its chitin arms high above in an arc, the scythe like blade's were long and deadly the aura they gave off were unlike anything sunny had seem before.
sunny then gave the signal in a short roar, and nephis sprinted to their location despite being unable to see in this dark night she used the sound of the commotion the two were making to find her way there.
When she did she was met with the sight of the two in a clash, sunny's strong blade had found a match for itself it could have easily sliced through the beast if it had been encased by the boys shadow but he was currently using it to reinforce the Echo he had summoned so that it wouldn't take any fatal injuries in this battle.
The girl looked at the sight before steeling herself and rushed toward the two her sword in hand and made a sharp attack toward the monster, he blade sliced the beasts leg taking it straight off.
This bought time for Sunny to redirect his shadow back to himself and then on to his sword, the shadow encased the blade giving it a dark hue and Sunny felt its power multiply. The rush of power was warmly welcomed by him as he raised the blade above his head and struck downward with the force of an elephant, the blade cleanly sliced the beast it was met by no resistance.
Sunny's shadow was way stronger now, due to him being the main slayer of the beasts they had encountered his shadow fragments had increased magnificently. Before he had started his travels his fragments were at a stable [32/1000], now they had reached a staggering [276/1000]. And due to his shadows increased strength he had no difficulty when it came to slaying the beasts he came across.
as his blade finished passing through the beasts chitin and into its flesh the spell whispered/
[Your shadow grows stronger]
[You have received a memory]
[Your knowledge grows deeper]
At the confirmation of the kill he slumped down and took a seat.
He could finally rest, but there was a pressing matter he wanted to check. That's right it was nephis's clothing situation, he had received a armour memory from the centurion .
"hey Neph come here" Sunny asked her, few seconds went by without reply before he could eventually see the girl heading his way.
Sunny grasped her shoulder his cold hand making her startle as he began to will the memory into her skin, She gave him a look of shock as she checked her runes.
he had given her a memory and an armour one at that, but why?. she was oblivious to the fact Sunny was disturbed by her half naked body, taking a moment to collect herself she looked at her runes to see the armour.After she had confirmed that it was in fact a good set of armour she willed it to be summoned, Golden sparks encased her body as a skin tight black wet suit formed around her skin which was then followed by plates of armour forming over the top creating a secure set of armour.
She looked stunning.
The two then began their way back to Cassie and informed the girl that they had in fact just killed the monster.
They would rest for the night and tomorrow they would begin their journey west again.
