Zoey's confidence wavered, her eyes flickering with uncertainty. Valerie's gaze pinned her, unyielding. But remembering the string hold she had on Harry, her confidence skyrocketed. But before she could retort, Valerie beat her to it.
"Papers can't fight against wind," Valerie continued, her breath caressing Zoey's face. "And the stronger the wind, the lesser the paper's hopes of resistance."
"What are you insinuating?"
"I am that strong wind in Harry's life," Valerie whispered, her words sending shivers down Zoey's spine. "I blow him wherever I want. Just like a piece of paper against the wind, he cannot resist me."
Zoey's eyes dilated, her pupils constricting as fear crept in. Valerie's proximity made her skin prickle and her heart raced at the thought of losing Harry to this bitch.
Zoey's retort exploded like a crack of thunder, her voice shaking with rage. "You lie!"
