The disappearance of Hirvan threw the Ashford residence into chaos. Elian paced around his study anxiously, driven mad by having no clue where his son could have gone. He had turned the house upside down, checking every corner for signs of forced entry or foul play, but there was none. The good news was that Hirvan had not been abducted. On the other hand, the painful truth came to light.
Hirvan, his son, had simply left them.
'Why???!!' Elian ruffled his brown hair in frustration.
'Did I put too much pressure on him? Should I have closed my eyes and let him do what he wanted?'
He asked himself, in despair.
Initially, Elian had thought Hirvan had gone to Lu Hanbing or Fu Yan, having missed them after so many days of separation. But they had also been kept in the dark.
He slumped in a chair, deep in thought. Suddenly, the door of the study opened with a bang, and Mrs. Smith strolled into the room.
