Kapitel 2: Chapter 1

Where am I? Also, what is this I'm feeling?

I was just walking on the sidewalk, and now I'm here, in this place where only a TV-like hologram exists.

It began to show the life of a kid. He grew up to be a coward, got cheated on by his seven girlfriends, and in the end, his money was taken by his last girlfriend who eloped with someone, leaving him in debt.

The kid, now a servant of someone, was then taken in by an older man who paid all his debt and taught him how to use a sword.

Halfway through the show, somehow I was the kid, and I began to go through katas of the sword style known as Thunder Breathing, a technique which can amplify the body by imitating thunder by breathing in a specific way.

I had no control over the body; I was a mere spectator as he tried to run away from his training. He was becoming good at form one of Thunder Breathing, even though he was only able to use the first form.

The poor thing tried time and time again to use the other forms, but he still couldn't. Of all the six forms, he could only do the first form.

He was bullied by this elder disciple who could do all the forms except for the first form.

His thoughts about himself were all but bare for me to see; he hated himself to the core.

For running away from his training, for not being able to do the other forms of Thunder Breathing, for being useless, for disappointing Gramps.

And then one day, lightning struck. Literally.

He was struck by lightning and fell from the tree where he was perched.

Crying to Gramps that he couldn't do the training, and he fell from the tree. His hair now a light yellow color.

And the show ended.

Opening my eyes, I saw Gramps looking at me worriedly, "Zenitsu! You are all right! I was worried."

"Gramps." Words left my mouth. "I'm sorry."

"Don't worry, we can start tomorrow," he said with a smile on his face. He walked to the side and took a cup, which I presumed had medicine.

I was not apologizing for not being able to train. I was apologizing because I had taken over the body of Zenitsu Agatsuma, a poor kid who had suffered all his life.

I can't help but feel bad for him, suffering all his life and now even his life was lost.

'I will honor this new life of mine by becoming a Hashira like Gramps. That's the least I could do to honor the name of Zenitsu Agatsuma,' I thought to myself, making a promise.

Onto other problems, demons are real.

Not the ones depicted in the Bibles or any other religious books.

This was different. They eat humans and don't care for human life. They only seek to increase their strength by consuming as many humans as possible.

It is disgusting and revolting.

I wouldn't have thought of something like this if I hadn't seen Zenitsu's life, but I need to fully master Thunder Breathing if I want to kill as many demons as possible.

"Here. Drink this," he said, handing me the cup. I took it with both hands and drank it in one go. Yuck. It tasted bitter, but it left a sweet aftertaste.

"Gramps," I said after drinking the medicine and giving the cup back. He looked at me and nodded, urging me to continue.

"I'll take the training seriously from now on."

He looked surprised for a minute before smiling. "I'll make sure to make your training as hellish as possible to beat Thunder Breathing into you."

His smile was like that of the devil, scary.

"Rest now, and rest well," Gramps said before leaving, leaving me to ponder.

I still have the muscle memory of my body practicing all the katas of Thunder Breathing. It might be possible that I can do it now.

I stood up, walked towards the wooden sword placed against the wall, and quietly made my way out of the door so that Gramps wouldn't know. He had told me to rest.

Walking quite far but not too far from the house, I took a look around and found myself in a clearing.

"Hm. This will do." Taking a stance, I gripped the sword with my right hand and positioned it as if for iaijutsu, even though there was no sheath to unsheathe the sword from.

Taking a deep breath, I could feel myself becoming empowered. Slightly lowering my stance and putting all my strength into my legs, I pushed against the ground with all my might.

"Thunder Breathing: Second Form, Rice Spirit!"

The very air vibrated as I executed five slashes in quick succession.

Crack, snap. The wooden sword I was using suddenly broke in the middle. Ah, damn.

"Good job, Zenitsu," I heard a voice from behind, and I froze.

I turned around quickly and found Gramps himself looking at me with a slightly proud smile.

Gramps. When did he...

"I was a former Hashira, of course I know how to hide my presence, even from you," he said with a smile as he walked up to me.

"You did it after all." He motioned with his hand, and I quickly knelt down, feeling his hand on top of my head as he patted me. Unknowingly, tears began to gather in my eyes, even though I didn't understand why.

"You did it. I'm proud of you, my boy." Hearing those words felt like enlightenment.

"You have one more year before the final selection. I'll train you to take my former place as the Rumble Hashira. But know this, it will not be easy," he said, wiping my tears. I nodded, feeling determination in my eyes—or at least I assumed it was determination.

"Zenitsu, what did I say about resting?" The sudden shock snapped me back to reality; I was too excited to remember the implications of him being here.

Defying his words, I snuck out to experiment...

BONK!

It hurts! My head throbs from the blow of his fist, which just left my head smoking. He began dragging me back with him.

I guess I'm content with my life for now, even though I know I'll have to face the cruelties of this world sooner or later.

I'm content.

So what do you guys think? Was it any good? Also, please leave comments so that I can know what you think.

Also, I chose Nezuko as the female lead. There won't be any lewding, just a slow romance. Nezuko is three years younger than the MC, so that's not much of a difference.

Hypothetically, who would you guys choose?
