Kapitel 32: Oaths

The moment had finally arrived. Haldor, standing beside his father's family, took a deep breath. Feeling the gazes of thousands of sorcerers upon him, he knew there was no room for mistakes in moments like these.

When called, Haldor walked slowly, a cold expression etched on his face. Everyone observed the appearance of this crown descendant; after all, only the elderly had white hair, but he seemed to be an exception.

The cold wind and the extreme silence did not intimidate Haldor's expression; his mind was much more mature than that of a normal child.

Haldor, aware of the general history, now found it useless, as this was completely new and unrelated to what he knew.

Everyone expected the heir to address the people who awaited his words; after all, the world was waiting for him to begin a new era.

"Small things, everyday acts of ordinary people, are what keep evil at bay in this world, and simple acts of kindness and love can keep evil under control." Haldor's words piqued the curiosity of the surrounding sorcerers, who barely understood the meaning of his words.

Instinctively, everyone evaluated the white-haired boy who would soon be named heir to the crown and who would wield great power as he grew.

"I am still young, lacking experience, and understanding the true meaning of my life in this world." Haldor seized this moment to create a significant impact on the families that had sworn loyalty to the crown. "But if there's one thing I'm sure of, it is my determination to protect the world from the White Walkers and unnecessary wars."

After saying these last words, Haldor looked at his father and waited in silence. His father looked at his son with a proud expression, feeling the time was right. He said, "I, Harald Hardrada, King of the northern mountains and of the Rhoynar, protector and owner of the Fireflies, in the name of my father and the surname inherited from his father at that time, declare Haldor Mondragón as the heir to the crown of Frostgard."

Haldor walked towards his father and followed the steps of the ceremony. Although the pressure was unbearable, he was confident in his abilities and trusted himself.

"A beaver?" Haldor glanced as a beaver walked towards Harald and handed him an old box.

Harald carefully opened the box and took out a silver dragon with a green pearl embedded in its head. "This is a very special object, Haldor. If it likes you, you can keep it."

Haldor took the silver dragon from his father's hands and looked at it with curiosity. Not knowing its use, he placed it on the palm of his right hand and waited for the object to judge him.

Under the sharp gazes of everyone, the silver dragon quickly flapped its wings and crawled towards Haldor's index finger.

'Incredible,' thought Haldor as he watched the silver dragon adjust to his finger and stop in the form of a ring.

"Since it was left by the ancestors, no one has been recognized by the dragon ring." Harald looked at his son and announced, "Under the gaze of all, I name my son Lone Firefly."

"I, Haldor Mondragón, accept the titles granted to me. I will respect the ancient traditions and also carry out my duties as the North Star," Haldor said in a strong voice.

"He is an extraordinary prince; there is no doubt that all the crown heirs have never failed in their duties," a sorcerer with a tired expression, a long white beard, and small glasses thought to himself.

"Suppose now, with this oath ceremony, the families will cease insisting on invading the south." When it came time for the oaths, Caspian, the current leader of the sorcerers, stood up.

"I, Caspian Wulfric Brian, the current Supreme Chief of the Union of Sorcerers, witness this ceremony and give my testimony of acceptance," Caspian said in a deep voice.

Haldor, hearing Caspian's words for the first time, couldn't help but look at the world's most powerful sorcerer. "This is too exhausting."

No, to tell the truth, he was grateful to have the power he had long desired when he was on the brink of death. He still remembered that feeling of weakness and helplessness; his resentment was unparalleled, and he would ensure he had enough power to erase any enemy that stood before him.

"I, Wilhelm Maldor, am willing to march south to claim the lands that belong to us." A hard-faced man stood up from the crowd.

Haldor's eyes met Wilhelm's, and he noticed that he looked at him with a mysterious smile. "As a representative of the Stone Men, I witness this ceremony and give my testimony of acceptance."

Everyone made their oaths, agreeing to a meeting with the Targaryens to demand their claims or face a war that would spread across the seven kingdoms.

This is what they owed them; this was their claim.
