Mei and Lian exchanged excited glances, their faces lighting up with joy. They always wanted an older brother and Baihe was perfect. "We promise, master!" Mei exclaimed, her eyes sparkling. Lian nodded enthusiastically, her smile wide and genuine. 

Yi Nuo, who had been quietly observing them, couldn't hide her surprise. She didn't actually think that Princess Xiu would care enough to get this poor young man his freedom. Her admiration for the princess grew even more. She was like a bodhisattva this world didn't deserve. 

Xiang Yu turned back to Baihe, his expression softening. "You should stop kowtowing," he said gently. "If you have anything you want to pack, go ahead."

Baihe shook his head, his eyes still glistening with tears. "I have nothing to my name," he admitted quietly.

Xiang Yu's brow furrowed slightly in concern. "Do you want to go back to your home?" he asked. He knew the answer to this question but he still had to ask.
