Kapitel 76: 073, Die… heretic

Zaire's tall figure flew through the air and landed heavily.

Splash!

His feet sank into the filthy waters of the sewer.

Straightening his back, Zaire lifted his chin.

Not far away, the blue light in David's eyes flickered slightly.

It illuminated the interior of the sewer.

Between David's two metal arms, Zaire's aunt, stunned and speechless, curled up cautiously, her pale face filled with shock.

Zaire didn't have time to explain further to her.

He waved his hand forward and commanded in a low voice:

"David, escort Auntie home!"

"As you command, my lord... Please follow me."

Ironman David turned his metal head.

First, he bowed slightly to Zaire.

Then, he nodded at his aunt, who was within arm's reach.

After that, Ironman twisted his metal body and headed into the dark depths of the sewer.

Zaire, his face grim, trudged through the sewage, silently following behind him.

Seconds later, Ironman, holding Zaire's aunt, entered a passage connected to the sewer.

The path he chose blocked the flowing sewage entirely.

Just as Zaire pulled one foot out of the sewage and stepped into the dry underground passage—

Boom!

A duller explosion echoed through the underground structure.

A thunderous rumble reverberated slowly.

Zaire tilted his head, his gaze unperturbed, slowly rising.

Even with only the coarse stone ceiling of the sewer above him, his sight seemed to penetrate the layers of earth above.

He saw the grotesque monster rampaging through the city!

That damn heretic—

"My lord?"

Ironman, only a few steps ahead, seemed to notice Zaire's hesitation.

He turned his metal head, the blue light in his eyes flickering.

"It's nothing…"

Hearing Ironman's inquiry, Zaire slowly withdrew his gaze.

However, his hands, hanging at his sides, clenched and unclenched repeatedly, his fingertips trembling slightly.

"...Take Auntie away!"

"I... still have things to do!"

The next moment, Zaire, his face grim, tilted his head, making a decision.

He took a deep breath.

The stench of decay from the sewer water filled his senses, pulling at his rapidly beating heart.

"May you find glory in battle."

Ironman David turned his head and, without hesitation, proceeded forward.

Held carefully in his arms, Zaire's aunt bit her lip.

She instinctively clenched her fists but remained silent.

Not long after, the blue light gradually faded into the distance.

When Ironman's silhouette had completely vanished into the dark underground passage—

Zaire, standing in place, expressionless, opened the interface on his simulator.

He scrolled through a myriad of salvage items.

Moments later, heavy equipment materialized silently within the underground passage.

---

Under the night sky, among the streets of Harlem—

Smoke billowed from several buildings, while flames from burning vehicles shot up high.

The sounds of injured civilians crying out and the collapse of ruins filled the air, turning the street into a deadly urban battleground.

It felt like a nightmarish hell.

Thud. Thud. Thud—

Heavy footsteps echoed slowly.

A three-meter-tall humanoid creature strode down the street.

Sweat seeped from its pale gray skin, dripping onto the ground.

Thick bone plates, covering its chest, opened and closed slightly with each heavy breath.

Even the raised, spiked bones on its back glinted faintly, moving up and down with each step.

At this moment, the humanoid monster suddenly raised a massive arm, as thick as an adult's thigh.

A booming crack of air resounded around it!

This immense power caused a sinister grin to stretch across its grotesque face.

"Heh…"

It remembered once having a human name.

But now—

It preferred to call itself "Abomination."

A deep, oppressive voice filled the surrounding area as Abomination sneered:

"Come out, Hulk! How long will you keep hiding, coward?"

There was no response to Abomination's taunt.

But beneath an overturned vehicle nearby—

A man, struggling with his injuries, caught Abomination's attention.

Lumbering forward with heavy steps, Abomination approached him.

With no trace of humanity left in its eyes, Abomination lifted a colossal foot, ignoring the man's pleas and screams, and stomped down without hesitation!

Splat—

In an instant, shattered flesh and metal shards from the vehicle mingled together, indistinguishable.

Abomination shook its gray head.

Its deep voice echoed slowly:

"You're not the Hulk… boring!"

It adjusted its blood-splattered foot.

Just as its massive body was about to turn—

Two red metal canisters, over a foot long, were thrown from nearby rubble!

They twirled through the air, reflecting firelight, instantly catching Abomination's gaze.

"Huh?"

Clang—

But with a crisp metallic sound, the canisters suddenly detonated!

A blinding flash of light, as radiant as the sun, burst forth in front of Abomination!

Abomination's arrogance exacted a brutal toll as its eyes were seared shut!

Countless rays of searing light instantly blinded it!

Staggered, Abomination reflexively raised its massive hands to shield its eyes.

A pained howl escaped its mouth!

"Ahhh—"

As Abomination's howl reverberated through the surroundings, its enormous body wobbled.

Its bare feet crushed the ground as it stumbled backward.

At that moment—

A tall figure, clad in dark camo armor, suddenly leaped from the rubble!

In his hands—

He wielded a peculiar weapon, gleaming with metallic luster and filled with swirling green light in transparent tubes.

In the blink of an eye—

Zaire, springing high, unleashed a deadly barrage at the blinded Abomination without hesitation!

Whoosh—

A terrifying green beam of light shot forth from the barrel of the Gauss Burst Cannon like lightning!

In the blink of an eye, it struck Abomination's massive body!

The gray skin, resilient enough to withstand high-caliber bullets, evaporated almost instantly.

Countless pieces of flesh disintegrated into green atoms, dissipating rapidly!

Even Abomination's powerful regenerative abilities couldn't resist the evaporative force of the deadly green light!

In the next instant—

Terrifying green beams, like a storm of bullets, fired continuously from the vibrating barrel!

Die… heretic!

Kapitel 77: 074, Death of Abomination!

Every inch of Abomination's flesh was evaporating continuously.

Even the heavy bone plates covering its chest couldn't withstand the dreadful disintegration caused by the green beam.

One by one, ribs wrapped in glistening green light crumbled and vanished,

fully exposing a massive, violently beating heart!

At the same time,

its thick legs were struck by multiple green beams,

vaporizing the flesh and quickly melting the bones,

causing Abomination's massive frame to lose all support in an instant,

toppling backward like a decayed tree!

Boom—

The broken body collapsed heavily to the ground,

sending up clouds of dust and scattering green atoms everywhere.

At this moment, Abomination's limbs had separated from the shattered body and dissipated completely.

Only a pale head, partially connected by a section of neck,

and that enormous, still-beating heart in the open air,

were evidence that it was still alive.

In utter horror and confusion, Abomination struggled to scream and question,

but below its neck,

the spreading green light disintegrated its vocal cords and windpipe,

rendering it mute.

All that remained was frantic, struggling breaths.

In darkness, Abomination twisted its broken body,

sensing vibrations on the ground with parts of its skin on its back.

It suddenly realized, in despair,

that the figure who had so easily destroyed its mighty body was slowly approaching.

Squelch—

Moments later, an icy, piercing metal blade plunged into the still-beating heart.

In the now silent street,

Zaire raised his Gauss Blaster,

withdrew the bayonet from Abomination's heart,

and aimed the muzzle once again at the giant, gradually cooling corpse, pulling the trigger.

Whoosh—

A torrent of terrifying green light engulfed everything in sight,

melting even a thick layer of ground beneath it.

In an instant, green atoms drifted and ascended, dissolving into the air.

Click—

Zaire, clad in Kasha-sheen carapace armor, suddenly stopped shooting.

He raised his helmeted head,

gazing toward the end of the street.

A line of tardy police cars and military Humvees arrived.

A cold snort escaped from within the helmet.

"Hmph..."

Zaire then shouldered his Gauss Blaster,

walking toward the shadows of a nearby building without a backward glance.

Not long after,

as sweaty policemen and fully armed soldiers cautiously passed through the ravaged street and reached the target location,

all they found was a terrifying crater on the ground

and a single, massive toe from the humanoid creature that remained.

They exchanged bewildered glances, at a complete loss.

--------------------------------

An hour later.

Zaire made his way through winding underground passages,

returning to the secret base.

He immediately saw Ironman David awaiting him.

He glanced around but didn't see his aunt.

Setting down the Gauss Blaster,

Zaire removed his helmet and looked at David, asking,

"Where's Auntie?"

David, seemingly unfazed by Zaire's equipment, turned his metal head,

his eye sockets flashing blue light.

"My lord, your aunt has gone home to rest... I think she had a lot to process today."

Hearing the robot's mechanical voice,

Zaire took a deep breath in silence.

He walked over to the round table in the hall,

casually tossing down his helmet,

and then sat on the metal table with a sigh, saying,

"I didn't want Auntie to know too much... she's just an ordinary person with outdated views. She doesn't need this kind of burden..."

"My lord, if I may interrupt..."

Before he could finish, David stepped forward, his towering metal frame shifting.

His mechanical voice seemed to contain a hint of excitement.

"Your aunt is not as fragile as you imagine..."

"In fact, in your absence, she quickly calmed herself and even tried to communicate with me."

"Although her methods were somewhat clumsy, her respect for me far exceeded that of Miss Jessie's"

"Forgive my presumption, but this is a fact based on data... and I believe you have no reason to worry, especially regarding your aunt."

David's words brought Zaire to silence once again.

His dangling feet swayed unconsciously back and forth.

Minutes later, a slightly weary look flashed in Zaire's eyes as he leapt down from the metal table.

"I think I need to do some serious reflection..."

Without looking back, he headed to the resting area.

Half an hour later,

a freshly cleaned-up Zaire quietly unlocked the door to his home.

He gazed at the pitch-black living room,

hesitated for a moment and refrained from disturbing his aunt.

Zaire returned to his bedroom,

laying on the bed as he scrolled through the news on his phone.

Tonight, the appearance of the murderous creature had thrown New York into panic.

The initial death toll stirred public outrage online,

with people questioning the military, criticizing the federal government,

and mocking billionaire Iron Man for his habit of saving foreigners.

Chaos reigned in the virtual world.

With narrowed eyes, Zaire skimmed through the news,

finding nothing useful.

He tossed the phone aside, planning to get some rest.

As he closed his eyes, he drifted into a hazy state,

feeling as though something was brewing in the depths of his mind...

But before he could grasp this mysterious sensation,

he had completely fallen asleep...

------------------------------

The next morning,

Zaire, determined to have a heartfelt talk with his aunt,

found himself being comforted by her instead.

She first expressed admiration for his bravery last night

and pride in his growth.

Finally, she revealed an unexpected sentiment—

that no matter what Zaire chose to do in the future,

as family, she would always choose to support and understand him.

If, one day,

everything familiar to her became uncontrollably different,

she would willingly follow Zaire's arrangements.

She wouldn't become an extra burden on him.

In short,

her sincere words left Zaire speechless.

He could only nod silently, contemplating his aunt's future.

Not long after,

Carl called to check in,

and his aunt decided to head to the restaurant and open for business.

Left at home, Zaire had a simple breakfast

and planned to review his studies for exams,

then head to the base to check on Jessica's recovery.

Half an hour later,

as if remembering something,

Zaire hesitated,

then reopened the simulator,

ready to start the next simulation.
