Kapitel 2: Chapter 2: Clash of wills

Kang woke up the next morning, his body still aching from the previous day's encounter with Jaxon.

Despite his soreness, he forced himself out of bed, determined to face another day at Wellston Academy. Remi had already left for her early training session, leaving a note on the kitchen table that read, "Stay strong, Kang. You've got this!" Making him smile in appreciation

After a quick breakfast, Kang made his way to school. The morning classes passed by in a blur of lectures and demonstrations. He focused on his studies, but the lingering gazes and occasional whispers reminded him of his status as a powerless student.

As lunchtime approached, Kang found himself in the bustling cafeteria. The aroma of various dishes filled the air, and the chatter of students created a constant background hum. He scanned the room, hoping to find a quiet spot to eat.

He spotted a table with a slice of chocolate cake left unattended. His sweet tooth got the better of him, and he quickly grabbed the slice, heading to an empty corner to enjoy his rare treat in peace.

Just as he took his first bite, a shadow loomed over him. Kang looked up to see Seraphina, the strongest student at Wellston Academy. With her long flowing hair and piercing eyes, she was a commanding presence. Her eyes, glowing a faint blue, indicated her ability being active.

"Hand over the cake," Seraphina ordered, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Kang swallowed, trying to keep his composure. "Why should I?"

Seraphina's eyes narrowed. "Because I said so. I don't have time for this."

Kang hesitated. He had heard about Seraphina's reputation—her god-tier status and her ability that made her practically untouchable. But the thought of giving in so easily gnawed at him. "No," he said firmly. "I got this cake fair and square."

The cafeteria fell silent as students noticed the confrontation. Whispers spread quickly, and all eyes turned to Kang and Seraphina. The atmosphere grew tense, with everyone anticipating what would happen next.

Seraphina's expression darkened, a rare display of emotion breaking through her usually calm demeanor. "You don't know who you're dealing with," she said, her voice icy.

Kang stood his ground, his heart pounding in his chest. "Maybe not, but I'm not just going to hand over something because you demand it."

Seraphina's eyes glowed brighter, a clear sign that she was tapping into her power. The world around Kang seemed to slow down, and he felt a pressure building up, as if time itself was bending to her will.

Before Seraphina could escalate the situation, Remi appeared, her eyes flickering with blue lightning as she interjected. "What's going on here?"

Seraphina turned her gaze to Remi, her power still evident but held in check. "Your brother decided to defy me."

Remi looked at Kang, then back at Seraphina. "It's just a piece of cake, Seraphina. Let it go." even though she knew she'd be defeated, she wasn't going to let anyone bully her brother.

Seraphina's eyes flickered, a hint of frustration showing. She was used to getting what she wanted, and Kang's defiance was a direct challenge to her authority. "It's not about the cake, Remi. It's about respect."

Remi stepped between Kang and Seraphina, her stance protective. "Respect is earned, not demanded. If you want respect, show it to others first."

The tension in the room was palpable, with students holding their breath, waiting to see how the confrontation would end. Seraphina's eyes lost their glow as she took a step back, her expression hardening. "Fine. But remember this, Kang—actions have consequences."

With that, Seraphina turned and walked away, leaving the cafeteria in a stunned silence. Remi turned to Kang, her concern evident. "Are you okay?"

Kang nodded, though his hands were still trembling. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for stepping in."

Remi sighed, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "You need to be careful, Kang. Seraphina isn't someone you want to cross lightly."

As they sat down to finish their lunch, Kang couldn't shake the feeling of unease. The encounter with Seraphina had shown him just how far he had to go in proving himself. Despite the support from Remi, the constant comparisons and the expectations weighed heavily on him.

Later that day, Kang's thoughts were still preoccupied with the confrontation as he attended his afternoon classes. The whispers and glances from other students were a constant reminder of his precarious position at Wellston. He knew he needed to find a way to navigate this challenging environment without relying solely on his sister's protection.

The next morning, Kang woke up feeling a bit more confident. He had survived another day at Wellston, and today was a fresh start. He joined Remi for breakfast, feeling a bit more optimistic about the day ahead.

As they arrived at school, Kang checked his schedule and realized that he had the same class as Seraphina. He took a deep breath, bracing himself for any potential confrontations. The memory of the previous day's encounter was still fresh in his mind, but he knew he had to face it head-on.

In class, the teacher announced that they would be working on a group project. Kang's heart sank as he heard his name called alongside Seraphina's. He glanced at her, noticing the brief flicker of annoyance in her eyes before she masked it with her usual calm demeanor.

Kang approached Seraphina cautiously. "Looks like we're partners for this project."

Seraphina didn't look at him, her focus seemingly elsewhere. "Just stay out of my way and don't mess it up."

Kang nodded, trying to maintain a calm exterior. "I'll do my best."

They began working on the project, with Seraphina taking the lead. Kang tried to contribute, but her sharp, efficient manner made it clear she preferred to handle things herself. Still, he persisted, offering suggestions and ideas whenever he could.

Hours passed, and they made significant progress on the project. Despite Seraphina's initial reluctance, she gradually allowed Kang to take on more tasks. By the end of the day, they had completed most of the project, but it was clear that Seraphina's perfectionism was taking its toll.

The next day, they submitted their project. The teacher reviewed it, giving them an A-. Seraphina's eyes narrowed in displeasure, her frustration palpable. "An A-? That's unacceptable."

Kang, sensing her distress, spoke up. "We did well. It's a good grade."

Seraphina's eyes flashed with a mix of anger and disappointment. "It's not perfect. It's not good enough."

Kang watched as Seraphina stormed out of the classroom, her expression dark. As he walked through the halls later that day, he overheard snippets of conversations among the students.

"Did you hear? Seraphina only got an A- on her project."

"No way. That's so unlike her."

"She must be slipping. I bet the new guy messed it up."

Kang felt a pang of guilt. He knew that Seraphina was dealing with immense pressure, and his involvement in the project had only added to her frustration. As he walked through the cafeteria at lunch, he noticed Seraphina sitting alone, her usual group of admirers keeping their distance.

Throughout the day, Kang observed the way students reacted to Seraphina's "failure." Whispers followed her everywhere, and the once respectful distance people maintained now seemed tinged with doubt and judgment. It became clear to Kang just how much pressure Seraphina was under to maintain her perfect image.

As the day ended, Kang couldn't shake the feeling of unease. Despite their differences, he felt a growing sense of empathy for Seraphina. She was battling her own demons, just as he was. But for now, he kept his thoughts to himself, observing and learning more about the pressures and expectations that came with power and reputation.
