"Let's go!" The Smokescreen blocked Ariana, and with the huge Pokémon riots around, Team Rocket was too busy dealing with the chaos to notice Ash and the others.
At this moment, the giant Venusaur unleashed a flurry of Vine Whips, with six tendrils flailing wildly. Several Team Rocket members were sent flying, but the scene was too chaotic, and the Vine Whips tangled with other giant Pokémon.
When the Vine Whips were retracted, they became entangled with other mechanical Pokémon. Since the giant Venusaur was a machine, it lacked the intelligence of a real Pokémon. It struggled to pull its Vine Whips back.
As the vines were tugged, other mechanical Pokémon either crashed to the ground or collided with each other, further increasing the chaos.
Misty and Brock instinctively turned toward the commotion.
Due to the fierce Tackles, cracks appeared in the shells of these Pokémon, revealing the mechanical components inside.
"Ah! So these Pokémon are mechanical?"
Only now did Misty and Brock realize that these enormous creatures were man-made. It would have been terrifying if they had been real Pokémon.
"If all of this is true, poor Professor Bill has been waiting for this for years," Brock muttered.
"Forget it! These things are chasing us. We need to move!" Ash urged, not wasting any more time.
After all, with their systems locking onto them, if they didn't leave soon, they'd be in big trouble.
"Leaving so soon, little brother?" A figure emerged from the smoke behind them, holding a Poké Ball, ready to strike.
"I don't have time today, but I'll be back! Here's a parting gift! Pikachu, use Electro Ball! Eevee, Shadow Ball! Charmander, Flamethrower! Dragonite, Dragon Rage!"
Ash glanced at Ariana, then at the sky, where only two mechanical Pokémon remained airborne, moving toward them. Ash quickly gave the command.
"Pika—CHU!"
"Axew!"
"Eeveeeeeee!"
The four Pokémon launched their attacks simultaneously, hitting Moltres mid-flight. The explosion caused Moltres to veer off course, crashing directly into Zapdos beside it.
The two massive Pokémon lost their balance and plummeted from the sky. Just as Ariana prepared to attack, one of the giant Pokémon crashed in front of her, while the other smashed into the mass of colliding Pokémon.
The impact immobilized Ariana, and on the other side, Team Rocket members were thrown into disarray by the chaos.
Ash, Brock, and Misty seized the moment to escape. The battlefield lay in ruins, with damaged mechanical Pokémon bursting into flames. Amidst the wreckage, Team Rocket members were strewn across the ground.
A sheet of metal was pushed aside as Ariana slowly emerged, glaring in the direction Ash and his friends had gone. But they were long gone.
"Brat! How dare they escape!" Ariana gritted her teeth, seething with anger. She had never suffered such a defeat, especially at the hands of a kid.
"Hmph! Interesting. Next time, I won't let them off so easily," she muttered, a sinister smile forming on her lips.
But this didn't mean Ariana had taken a liking to Ash. Her smile was a sneer, filled with suspicion. There were still many unanswered questions about Ash—such as how he managed to guess her identity and his own mysterious abilities, which seemed almost unbelievable.
...
"That's just how the boss is!"
After Ash and his friends fled, Ariana found herself with a headache, staring at the chaotic scene. There was no easy way to clean up the mess, so she contacted Giovanni.
She relayed the entire situation to him but pushed most of the blame onto Jessie and James.
"Hmph! Those two fools! Not only did they lose the St. Anne, but they've now caused a disaster here, cutting off an important source of my funds!"
Ariana was one of Giovanni's most trusted lieutenants. Although in the future he would come to appreciate Jessie and James for their undying loyalty, at this moment, in his eyes, they were nothing but useless trash.
Jessie and James had no idea that, from now on, they would be placed on the back burner. It's somewhat ironic that they still considered themselves valuable members of Team Rocket.
Ariana remained silent. She knew she hadn't handled the situation well either, but she deflected most of the responsibility onto Jessie and James. She dared not say anything more.
"A mere boy caused you this much trouble? Have you found out who he is?" Giovanni asked sharply. While he was furious with Jessie and James, he was none too pleased with Ariana's failure either.
One of Team Rocket's top executives, a highly respected general in the organization, had been thwarted by a young trainer, resulting in significant losses.
"Yes, I apologize, Boss. I was careless. But that boy... he's no ordinary trainer. He didn't reveal his identity, but he's incredibly strong. He even recognized me at first sight."
Ariana chose not to push all the blame onto Jessie and James this time. She truthfully reported her encounter with Ash.
"Hmm?" Giovanni frowned slightly. A young boy, barely into his teens, recognized Ariana's identity?
"What were his defining characteristics?"
"His battle style is very unique. He used a Pikachu to defeat my Arbok." Ariana paused, recalling the battle before answering.
"A Pikachu? Do you think it's this boy?" Giovanni asked, then sent over a photo.
"That's right, it's him!" Ariana confirmed after glancing at the image. She would never forget Ash's face for as long as she lived.
"He ruined my plans on the St. Anne, and now he's cutting off my funding. And to top it off, he knows our identities. Is this kid coming after us?" Giovanni sounded irritated. He realized he could no longer afford to underestimate Ash.
"Send someone to investigate everything about this boy!"
"Yes, Boss!"
