Kapitel 13: No Wonder You're Sensei

"Sensei, we're running out of time!"

"No time doesn't mean you can skip meals, right?"

Asuka glanced at the busy hands preparing food, then pushed each of the three students into their chairs with a casual remark.

"Eat up, three bowls each, Sensei's treat. Now that you've become ninjas, Sensei has to tell you a harsh truth. You should treat every meal as if it's your last, because you never know which will come first, tomorrow or an accident."

With that, he discreetly gestured towards the Senju Clan's territory, lowering his voice.

"You know, I was born in Konoha 33 years ago, and Nawaki of Senju died in Konoha in the 37th year. I remember it clearly when he passed away."

Click!

At that moment, Asuka felt a heavy blow to his head before he could finish his sentence. He touched the slowly rising lump on his head and looked angrily behind him.

"Who hit me?"

"I did!"

Surprised by the straightforward admission, Asuka's gaze slowly moved from the bottom up. He observed slender, white legs, a slightly undulating abdomen, waist-length red hair, and veins bulging on the forehead.

How did she end up here?

Watching Kushina sit down next to him and act like she was about to eat ramen, Asuka smirked and suddenly turned serious.

"Boss Teuchi, bring me a bowl of super deluxe tonkotsu ramen."

Afterward, he noticed that the clan head's wife was following Kushina. Asuka pinched his somewhat dry wallet and hesitated as he looked at the price list again.

"Mikoto-sama, do you have any dietary restrictions?"

Mikoto smiled faintly, exchanged a glance with Kushina, instantly understanding each other's expressions, and whispered softly, "I don't have any restrictions, especially not on free food."

"Heh."

Seeing the two of them acting like they got a free meal, Asuka sneered inwardly and ordered a deluxe ramen for the clan head's wife as well.

They're married and yet leaving their husbands behind to eat ramen here.

Tsk!

Poor Fugaku, he should just get a divorce.

Watching Sensei with a mischievous grin, Iruka and the others exchanged glances, leaned in together, and quietly discussed, "What's wrong with Sensei?"

"Not sure. It seems like Sensei might be thinking about something unpleasant."

"I heard recently that Sensei and their family aren't on good terms."

With this question in mind, after finishing their ramen and seeing the two leave, they all turned to their Sensei curiously.

"Sensei, what about you guys?"

Asuka glanced down at the three's faces, looked around, then lowered his voice.

"It's nothing. The Fourth Hokage's wife lived with the Senju Clan for a while back then. She knew Nawaki, and they were somewhat related. Anyway, that poor kid Nawaki, he didn't have a good meal before he died. Tsunade, that old hag, blamed me for it, saying her brother died hungry before getting blown up."

"So, as ninjas, you should treat every meal like it's your last. Don't waste food on me, and don't leave your stomachs empty."

Afterwards, he looked in the direction where the two pregnant women had disappeared, crossed his arms, and sighed softly.

"Watching those two bellies grow bigger is really uncomfortable. Every night, I dream of Kushina sitting on top of me, controlling the Nine-Tails in her belly to slap me."

"Uchiha Mikoto too. If she doesn't tie herself or Fugaku up, I get irritated."

"In case some butterfly effect happens, and Uchiha Mikoto's belly gets even bigger after Sasuke is born, then the entire Uchiha Clan might as well be wiped out."

Iruka and the others looked up at Asuka, observing the struggle flashing occasionally across their Sensei's face, and hearing his muttering under his breath. After exchanging curious glances, they asked, "Sensei, what are you talking about?"

"Heh."

Asuka rolled his eyes at them and then turned his gaze to Hyuga Hanabi.

"Hanabi, do you want to get sterilized? Sensei knows you crave freedom. You understand the situation of your Hyuga clan better than anyone. Are you willing for your next generation to live under the same curse as you?"

Idiot!

Seeing Hyuga Hanabi actually getting caught up in this, Asuka tapped her head a few times with his finger and said irritably, "You're such an idiot. I just said it casually, and you actually started thinking about it."

"Don't worry, you won't have any offspring, you can't even find a boyfriend."

As ge sais that, he pulled a scroll from his pocket and shoved it into the three's arms, his expression serious.

"The mission begins. From now on, as your guiding Sensei and temporary Squad Captain, you will obey my orders."

Seeing their Sensei suddenly adopt a serious attitude, the three also dropped the gossipy expressions and responded earnestly.

"Yes!"

"Very well. Iruka, Hyuga Hanabi, you'll be intelligence gatherers. Gather complete information on the families who lost their pet cats and highlight households where only elderly reside."

"Uzuki Yugao, you're coming with me to find the cat. Er, I mean, to find cats."

"Understood!"

Watching Iruka and Hyuga Hanabi leave, Asuka headed outside the village with Uzuki Yugao.

"Sensei!"

As they walked further away from the village, into increasingly desolate surroundings, Uzuki Yugao swallowed nervously and asked.

"Sensei, those lost pets, they shouldn't have left the village, right?"

"No, those guys must still be in the village."

"Then we..."

Uzuki Yugao sniffled. She looked ahead at Sensei walking in front of her, and suddenly remembered the scene at the ramen shop just now.

"Sensei took me out of the village, could it be that he wants..."

"Don't think about it!"

Asuka waved his hand back at Yugao, pouring cold water on her thoughts casually.

"Don't be so nervous. Sensei has no intention of whats running onto your mind. I brought you out to meet Granny Cat. Granny Cat lives outside the village."

"Oh?"

Uzuki Yugao shivered slightly. She glanced awkwardly at the sky and muttered.

"Sensei, can you read minds?"

"No, but your defensive stance betrayed you. Isn't that a classic move when encountering a pervert? Besides me, who else is around here?"

"Right!"

Uzuki Yugao scratched her head and jogged to catch up with Asuka. She knew she had been overthinking.

When the two arrived at Granny Cat's place, Uzuki Yugao looked at the numerous kittens all around, her eyes sparkling like stars.

"So many cats. Such shiny fur! This one looks kinda cute in a weird way."

"Granny!"

Ignoring the kittens trying to get close to him, Asuka waved to Granny Cat sitting up ahead and smiled.

"Granny, I'm here!"

"Oh?"

Granny Cat opened her eyes halfway, looked down at the familiar figure below, and wrinkles instantly gathered on her face. Her voice, aged and weary, spoke.

"Little Asuka, are you here again to help an old lady with her business?"

"Heh, don't even think about it. I'm here this time for something else."

Upon hearing that this fool wasn't here for business, Granny Cat's smile faded halfway. She placed her pipe on the table and spoke slowly.

"Tell me, what do you want to do with Grandma?"

"I've come to adopt some cats."

"???"

Uzuki Yugao held two kittens in her arms, tilting her head, looking at Sensei with a puzzled expression.

Did she hear correctly?

Adopt cats???

Granny Cat didn't react much to this. She reached for a notebook on the table, proficiently flipped through a few pages, and muttered.

"Well, this is a rare occurrence. I didn't expect your village to assign you another D-Rank mission. It's been many years; I thought you were done with D-Rank missions."

"Yeah, I thought I was done too, but who would've thought I recently became a Sensei? Might as well take them on some D-Rank missions."

"How many are you planning to adopt this time?"

"Let's start with twenty today. There haven't been many cats missing in the village these days."

"Twenty?"

Granny Cat glanced at her notebook for a moment, then whispered a few words to the nearby kittens.

"Meow."

One of the cats nodded, glanced at Asuka, then turned and ran outside.

Before long, to Uzuki Yugao's astonished gaze, hundreds of cats of various colors and sizes suddenly appeared from the corridor they had just entered.

Asuka now had cat ears on as well. He scanned the group of kittens and spoke up.

"You'll follow Granny Cat. You'll eat your fill but not extravagantly. Next, I've got another way for those who want to eat well: we'll visit the villagers in Konoha who lost their cats, freeload a meal or two."

"You should know what eating your fill means. I won't say more. Get a few that won't scratch or cling, preferably those who like staying close to people and snuggling up to sleep under the covers."

"If you're ninja cats, it's fine to go eat, but don't run off after just two months. You need to be able to stay at people's homes for a long time."

"Oh, right!"

Asuka suddenly slapped his forehead. He grabbed a chubby cat from the ground and said disdainfully, "Forget about ones that are too fat like this. They look like they couldn't even fight. You need to make sure that if the original cats come back, you can scare them away and then guide them to Granny Cat's place."

"Sensei!"

After a moment of bewilderment, Uzuki Yugao quickly pulled Asuka's clothes, anxious. "We can't execute the mission like this."

"What's wrong?"

Asuka threw the fat cat aside and patted Yugao's shoulder to reassure her. "Those pet cats ran off on their own. They're old enough to face the consequences of their actions. That's how the world works."

"After staying bored at home, going out for a stroll for a few days, wild for a few days, and still expecting to come back to a warm harbor? If you compare cats to people, then you'll understand."

With that, he took the cat ears from his head and put them on Uzuki Yugao's head, continuing, "It's like if your husband goes out to find other women to eat, drink and sleep with. When he gets tired of playing around, he wants to come back home. Would you be happy? Since you can't control those little cats' hearts, just exchange them directly. Anyway, you've already shown them the way, so they won't starve."

Upon hearing this, Uzuki Yugao looked around at the cats nearby. She realized that since she put on these cat ears, she could actually understand the language of these cats.

It turns out they are really like humans, thinking, joking, and telling jokes that only adults would say.

Pointing at the black cat telling jokes, Uzuki Yugao bit her lip and blushed as she looked directly at Asuka, directly accusing him of that guy.

Here's the translation:

These cats here are so unreliable.

"Sensei!"

Taking off the cat ears and handing them back to Asuka, Uzuki Yugao picked up a tabby cat, feeling somewhat worried.

"These cats and the lost ones, their fur colors are a bit different. What if we get found out?"

"Don't worry, Sensei knows a salon where they are very skilled."

A salon??

Uzuki Yugao looked down at the group of small cats gathered around her feet, her eyes revealing a hint of complexity.

Now she seemed to vaguely understand how her sensei managed to get those thousands of D-Rank Missions.

Though this approach feels like cheating, the feeling is really refreshing.

Yeah, why should those cats who go wild outside be able to return to their original homes after their efforts?

It's like an ordinary family where the girl is bored at home and plans to run away from home to eat and sleep in the glamorous world outside.

Then these Genin who received the mission went through great efforts to find the girl, forcibly bringing her back and stuffing her back into the original family.

They thought they had done a good job with all their time and effort. But little did they know, this was actually one of the worst things they could do.

Since the kittens want freedom, then give them freedom.

Just find a new cat.

It's such a simple thing.

After convincing herself inwardly, Uzuki Yugao looked at Asuka with a hint of admiration in her eyes.

No wonder he can be a sensei while she's just a student.

The way Sensei thinks is different from normal people.
