Kapitel 113: A Dangerous Duet

"Maybe my facial expression or body language will give you a clue as to whether I'm lying or not," Fanfar said, confidently. "If you can't do it, don't bother." He tilted his head slightly, eyes narrowing as he added, "I would handle it."

Jazz's gaze softened, just a fraction, but enough to let Fanfar know he was listening. "I don't trust easily," he said, voice dropping to a murmur.

"Neither do I," Fanfar admitted, a wry smile ghosting his lips. The moment stretched between them, two forces balanced on the edge of uncertainty and mutual need.

Jazz's eyes searched Fanfar's face, his expression unreadable. Then he nodded once, curtly. "Lead the way, Fanfar. Just so you know, if you betray me, I'll have to deal with you myself."

Fanfar got goosebumps, but he met Jazz's face with newfound resolve. "Deal."

They had only taken a few steps when Jazz suddenly stopped. "I hope you're not a misogynist."

Fanfar was surprised. "What makes you think so?"
