Kapitel 23: spar

//A short chapter but I hope you like it //

---

Shisui stood perched on the sturdy branch of a plum blossom tree, the gentle breeze rustling the leaves and scattering petals around him. His eyes were fixed on Chung Myung, who stood a few trees away, his stance relaxed yet poised for their monthly spar.

It had been two and a half years since Shisui was transported to this world, and over two years since he joined the Mount Hua Sect. In that time, he had learned how to fight and wield a sword, training to the point where it felt like an extension of his body. He had mastered many of Mount Hua's sword techniques and integrated some Uchiha techniques as well.

The setting sun cast long shadows across the forest, painting the scene with hues of orange and gold. Shisui took a deep breath, feeling the familiar surge of adrenaline that always accompanied these moments. Sparring with Chung Myung had become a vital part of his training regimen. Daily spars with him were short and highlighted Shisui's weaknesses, but the monthly ones were different—he gave his all in these sessions. Each encounter tested his progress and reminded him just how much of a monster Chung Myung was. Nothing seemed to work against him, but this only fueled Shisui's motivation. If he could surpass Chung Myung, he would become the strongest martial artist. Today, he believed he had a shot.

"Yo, why are you lost in your thoughts? Scared? If you're scared, just say it. I might beat you less," Chung Myung taunted, pulling Shisui out of his thoughts.

"You're still going to beat me even if I back off from the fight?" Shisui replied.

Chung Myung grinned. "Yeah, because in Mount Hua, there's no place for any cow—"

Chung Myung was cut off as Shisui disappeared from his place, flickering just in front of him and slashing diagonally. Chung Myung smiled and met Shisui's strike with his own, their swords clashing violently. The high-pitched sound of the clash echoed as they both used immense physical strength. Shisui, however, used a bit less force, leveraging Chung Myung's strength to retreat back to a nearby tree, landing on a branch lower than Chung Myung's.

"Aren't you using body flicker a lot lately? I know you're the last Uchiha, but that doesn't mean you have to fulfill the whole clan's quota by yourself," Chung Myung mocked. "Maybe if you learned some illusion techniques, you might actually land a punch—"

Chung Myung was interrupted again as the branch he stood on was instantly cut into four pieces by three wires Shisui had thrown during their clash. Reacting quickly, Chung Myung leaped towards another branch. While he was still mid-air, Shisui gathered ki in his sword and released a horizontal ki attack.

Chung Myung, who had been playful up until now, became serious. At this short distance, dodging the attack was difficult. He quickly gathered his ki and deflected Shisui's attack with his own. Just after deflecting the attack, Chung Myung saw three deadly fast branch fragments coming towards him. Shisui had flickered to the ground before the fragments hit and kicked all three with high precision, each infused with ki.

Chung Myung landed on another branch, bracing himself. He used the branch to spin and deflect the first fragment into the second. He stopped spinning mid-air to slam the third fragment back at Shisui, forcing Shisui to flicker away.

*Why is this guy getting so good at kicking stuff? That attack was so precise. If I hadn't spun with the perfect amount of torque, the first or second fragment would have hit me. And the last one—it was tricky if I didn't exert the right amount of force to stop me spinning midair then 3rd one would have hit me. Even the Tang Clan's descendants below 30 wouldn't be able to throw blades with such timing and precision.*

Chung Myung now stood on the trunk of a tree, infusing ki into it as Shisui had been targeting the branches. He hoped the trunk would be harder to cut and that Shisui might stop attacking his footing. Suddenly, Chung Myung sensed a ki attack from the opposite side of the tree. He quickly ran away as the tree was cut down. Reaching another trunk, he saw Shisui, who had been hiding. Shisui gathered a large amount of ki and released a horizontal attack.

Chung Myung responded quickly, releasing his own ki attack. Shisui's attack was large and arcing, aiming lower and missing Chung Myung. The attacks caused many trees to fall, changing the terrain and creating a complex environment.

This new terrain was advantageous for Shisui, allowing for guerrilla warfare tactics. The Sharingan gave Shisui a boost, but the most significant disadvantage for Chung Myung was that he couldn't make eye contact with Shisui during their confrontations. Trees and plum blossoms started to fall, filling the surroundings with petals and making visibility difficult.

Chung Myung's vision was blocked by falling plum blossoms. He couldn't locate Shisui until he saw a pair of red eyes amidst the petals and noticed the strange flow of blossoms surrounding them. Realizing that some of the falling petals were illusionary and intended to attack him.

"It looks like I'm in deep shit or deep plum blossoms," Chung Myung muttered, bracing himself for the impending assault.

"Fuck!"
