Kapitel 28: Destiny

"Everything I ever loved was taken by the Lord of Storms!" Oliver's voice, filled with anguish and bitterness, echoed through the desolate battlefield. He was not always a man driven by revenge and sorrow. Once, he had been just a farmer in a secluded village, leading a simple, peaceful life. His transformation into a Beyonder had been a desperate act of survival, forced upon him by extraordinary events that he and his friend stumbled into. Becoming a Beyonder was his only option to avoid a life sentence in jail. But was this truly what he had wanted?

"I've never desired any of this! I never wished for heroism, faith, or to be a wonderful being!" Oliver's voice trembled with emotion. He had once harbored dreams of saving people, of working alongside the Church of the Lord of Storms to protect the innocent. But those dreams had turned to ashes. He had never sought heroism or greatness. He had only wanted a quiet life, to farm his land, to watch Hamlet and his child grow with the changing seasons. Even that modest wish had been denied him.

"I was content to just farm in the countryside. But you guys forced me to become a Beyonder! I saved everyone with my power but… No one has… Nobody came to save me." His words were a lament, a cry of a man who had been betrayed by fate. Torn from his simple life, he had been thrust into a world of chaos and power, a pawn in a game played by the gods.

"That is what it means to be a believer in a god. You must devote everything to your lord," John Kottman interjected, his voice filled with fervent conviction. Despite his attempts to persuade Oliver, his words fell on deaf ears. Oliver was shielded by an unseen force, his defiance unyielding.

It must be because of that gauntlet! John thought, a sense of fear creeping into his heart as he beheld the dark, ominous artifact on Oliver's hand. The gauntlet pulsed with malevolent energy, casting a shadow over the battlefield. His spiritual intuition screamed at him to beware.

"You must fulfill your destiny!" John Kottman's voice rang out.

Oliver laughed bitterly, the concept of destiny now a cruel joke to him. "Destiny… What is destiny anyway?" he mused aloud, his tone laced with skepticism.

"The Lord guides you towards a righteous future... That is the fate bestowed upon you," John replied earnestly, his faith unwavering despite Oliver's doubts.

"You should have led me to the right path sooner," Oliver responded, his voice tinged with sadness and bitterness. The idea that fate could be so easily swayed by divine whims seemed absurd. In Oliver's eyes, the world did not always follow the plan of Providence. Effort often went unrewarded, and even the best intentions could lead to unintended consequences.

Perhaps destiny was nothing more than a cruel illusion, a figment crafted by those seeking meaning in chaos. Or maybe, as Oliver now realized, destiny was simply a reflection of our choices and the paths we walked.

Clutching the mysterious gauntlet, Oliver's mind raced with questions. Which god had bestowed this ancient artifact upon him? His voice rang out with defiant determination as he gazed skyward, his eyes blazing with a fierce intensity. "Whether it's a bad god or a good god... I do not care about your name," he declared boldly. "You are probably looking down on us from above anyway. So, there's only a single thing I wish to say."

"Right here! Right now! I am dying! Since you gave me this gauntlet, then do something! Don't just watch!" His desperate plea echoed through the air, a cry to the unseen forces that governed the universe.

Oliver knew his actions amounted to blasphemy in the eyes of the god who had given him the gauntlet. Speaking in such an irreverent tone, devoid of devotion, was a direct affront to the divine. He risked divine wrath, but he felt compelled to release his frustration. The consequences of inaction seemed worse.

"If you brought hope to me here, then take responsibility—!" His voice, strained with intensity, reverberated through the heavens, invoking the name of the god who had brought him to this fateful moment.
