"Because it was Miss Kurenai who wanted to know," Shishou replied with a smile.
Kurenai was taken aback. Was he really revealing his secrets just because she was curious?
She frowned and glared at Shishou, anger in her voice. "I don't believe you! What if I asked you to jump off this cliff? Would you do that too?"
Before she finished speaking, she saw Shishou walk to the edge of the cliff, seemingly ready to jump. Alarmed, she grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
Taking advantage of her pull, Shishou tumbled, taking Kurenai down with him. They ended up lying together near the cliff's edge, Shishou smiling as he felt the warmth of Kurenai's body.

Kurenai sighed in relief, realizing that Shishou, with his technique, couldn't get hurt from a fall.
"You... get up," Kurenai said, her face flushed, trying to push Shishou off. She felt uneasy about his intentions.
Instead of getting up, Shishou pinned her hands above her head and smiled down at her. "Miss Kurenai, do you know why I spent thirty-five million ryo to learn genjutsu from Konoha?"
Seeing her hands pinned, Kurenai's face filled with anger. But Shishou's words shocked her. "Thirty-five million ryo? The Third Hokage said you only paid five million!"
Her eyes widened in disbelief. The Third Hokage had told her someone was willing to pay five million ryo to learn genjutsu from her, and after deducting Konoha's share, she would get two million ryo. She had been deeply grateful to the Third Hokage for this unheard-of sum.
The old fox, Shishou thought, noticing her shocked expression, then laughed. "Thirty-five million ryo, not a penny more or less. Enough to buy Asuma's head."
"Why mention Asuma?" Kurenai frowned, not understanding why he brought up the Third Hokage's second son.

If it were under different circumstances, she might have considered dating someone as powerful, wealthy, and handsome as Shishou. But he was Tsunade's man, making her reject the idea.
Before she could think of how to reject him, Shishou released her and stood up.
"It seems the battle is almost over," he said, looking down at the fight between his clone and the Third Hokage.
The Third Hokage's chakra was nearly depleted by Shishou's clone, leaving him unable to continue the fight.
Kurenai stood up and rolled her eyes, then glanced at Shishou, thinking, This man's strength is terrifying. Just a clone can match the Third Hokage.
No, it's more like a clone can suppress the Third Hokage.

Kurenai's face reddened as she touched her cheek. Hearing that Shishou planned to see her again, she didn't know what to say.
"This man is shameless. He already has Lady Tsunade and still flirts with me," Kurenai muttered, her heart racing with thoughts of Shishou's actions, his intense gaze, his looks, and his strength.
"What a playboy..." she sighed, feeling a mix of frustration and confusion as she walked toward Kakashi and the others.

Meanwhile.
"You truly are the one who repelled the masked man from the Akatsuki," the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, panted, looking at Shishou. "I acknowledge your strength."
No matter what attack he used, Shishou easily countered with powerful water and fire techniques, frustrating the Third Hokage. Finally, with his chakra nearly depleted, he had to concede.
Kakashi, Might Guy, and the others watched with complex expressions. They could tell Shishou seemed to be holding back, deliberately giving the Third Hokage an edge. This left them both impressed and frustrated.
"Lord Third Hokage's mastery of the five elements is truly impressive. I could only win because of my youth and vigor," Shishou said sincerely. "I've learned a lot from this battle."
Without the Third Hokage's involvement, winning over Tsunade would have been much harder. Although Kurenai interrupted, it still allowed him to strengthen his connection with her.

Returning after escorting Ino and Hinata home, Shizune found Tsunade packing and asked curiously, "Lady Tsunade, what are you doing?"
