Kapitel 94: Ch - 94 Deception?

Harrison Wells wasn't the only one intrigued by the two versions of Barry Allen he had just encountered. Swayam, observing from the shadows, shared that curiosity. While Wells wanted to know which point in the timeline they came from to set up precautions against any future time travel complications that might lead to his downfall, Swayam's interest lay in understanding whether his existence had caused any ripple effects in the timeline.

Thanks to his keen observation, Swayam had already noticed something peculiar: although the "Barry" tied to the wheelchair was indeed a past version of the Barry who had just conversed with Eobard Thawne, the Barry Swayam had encountered earlier didn't quite match either version. Time travel, as Wells had pointed out, was indeed confusing and complicated.

Despite these swirling thoughts, Swayam continued paying attention to the unfolding scene between Wells and the captive "Barry."

After trying several more times to free himself from the metahuman dampening cuff, "Barry" relaxed his body and, with suppressed anger, said, "Let me out of here, Thawne."

Wells, amused that "Barry" was finally dropping the act and acknowledging his true identity, responded, "That wasn't so difficult, was it? I know you're upset, but it does me good to hear that name again. Now, onto the bigger question. Why are you here?"

No longer in the mood for games, "Barry" got straight to the point. "Because I want to go faster, and you're the only one who can teach me. You're the only one who's figured out the equation. The Speed Force. You've manipulated it. How did you do that?"

Hearing this, Wells realized that something had indeed gone wrong with his original plan to return home. Why else would two different versions of Barry Allen visit him with entirely separate agendas?

Although the future Barry had claimed that Wells' plan worked and he successfully returned home, Wells remained suspicious. He decided to probe this younger version of Barry for answers. "You'd only come here if something went wrong. If you're still alive, that means..." He paused dramatically. "I haven't beaten you. If you're still alive, it means my plan fails. And if my plan fails, I don't get to go home. And if that's the case, well then..." Wells, dejected and angry, prepared to strike Barry, potentially "killing" him on the spot.

Desperately, the captive Barry interrupted, "No, no, no! Hey! It's the opposite, it's the opposite! You tricked me. You harnessed my speed. We turn on the accelerator to create a path for you to go home. While I go back in time, you return to your timeline. You won."

Internally, Wells felt a surge of elation knowing his plan had succeeded. But he kept his performance tight, wanting to extract more information. "Then why are you here? Why now?"

Future Barry, mixing half-truths with deception, continued the ruse. "Because when I got back, a singularity had formed. And now, the only way for me to learn how to get faster and stop the singularity from happening was to come here, now."

Processing this, Wells realized that the upcoming singularity posed a threat after his departure from this timeline. He responded, "Well, that's good to know. There's just..." Wells paused, his tone growing darker. "Just one thing that occurs to me. I don't need you, do I? Not this you, certainly. Oops. You probably should've thought of that before you came back here. Shame. You ran all the way back here just to die."

Though Wells knew he wouldn't kill this Barry—doing so would risk the timeline and his own future—he couldn't resist the threat.

As Wells expected, Barry provided a reason to keep him alive. "You kill me? Barry? This present Barry? Your Barry? He learns it all. There's a hidden letter, telling him how it ends, how to beat you—everything. If anything happens to me, you never make it back home. So go on, kill me, Thawne. See how this all ends."

Thawne's emotions were conflicted at that moment, something Swayam, through his minuscule clone, could sense. Thawne knew that killing this future version of Barry would throw the timeline into chaos, potentially erasing him from existence. He needed Barry alive to ensure his continued presence in the time stream.

Realizing the risk was too great, Thawne sat down in defeat, simmering with anger. Seeing his moment of victory, the future Barry demanded, "Now, you're gonna help me get faster."
