As Swayam's ant-sized clone clung stealthily to the underside of Cisco's jacket, his attention was split between engaging Leonard Snart and Mick Rory in battle on the streets, and the delicate operation his clone was carrying out. Though his clone only had a fraction of his power, Swayam believed it would be enough to rescue Caitlin from wherever Snart was holding her captive.
Cisco and Joe had been tracking Caitlin's location ever since they learned of her abduction. When they finally arrived at the warehouse where she was being held, they approached with caution. The building looked ordinary enough from the outside, but Cisco's handheld scanner detected an alarming number of electronic signals inside.
"This place is rigged," Cisco muttered, narrowing his eyes at the scanner's readouts. "Looks like Snart didn't want to take any chances."
Joe, gun ready, nodded. "You think they've got her in there?"
"Yeah. Definitely. Problem is, the whole place is a death trap."
As they hesitated, considering their options, Swayam's ant-sized clone slipped away, crawling up Cisco's sleeve and darting toward the warehouse's interior. Moving with almost supernatural agility, the miniature Swayam dodged motion sensors, pressure plates, and cleverly hidden tripwires. In his tiny form, it was easier to avoid the deadlier traps—concealed mines and thermal-triggered explosives set by Snart and Rory.
Cisco glanced at the warehouse, muttering, "I just wish Sam and Barry were here. They'd figure out a way through all this."
Unbeknownst to him, Swayam—albeit in miniature—was already hard at work.
As the clone ventured deeper into the warehouse, he finally spotted Caitlin. She was slumped in a chair, unconscious, with her hands and feet tied. Even from his tiny perspective, the strain on her body was evident. Faint ice crystals coated parts of her skin, especially around her face and hands. Her breathing was shallow but steady.
Swayam's clone cautiously approached her. Though he couldn't physically untie her in this form, he could still use his powers. Crawling up Caitlin's leg and onto her shoulder, Swayam focused his energy through the connection with his clone.
He sensed something strange—an excessive buildup of freezing energy within Caitlin's body. It didn't take long to deduce the cause. Snart must have hit her with his cold gun, and her body, still in a state of transition, had absorbed the freezing energy. However, the overwhelming cold had forced her nervous system to shut down as a protective measure.
"That explains it," Swayam thought through the clone. Caitlin's unconsciousness was her body's way of containing the dangerous energy, but it wouldn't last forever.
Swayam began channeling refined, formless energy from his clone into Caitlin's body. His goal wasn't to remove the cold but to transmute it—to take the volatile freezing energy and transform it into a more neutral, manageable form that Caitlin could absorb and control.
As he worked, Caitlin's breathing steadied. Her pulse, which had been faint and erratic, began to stabilize. The shimmer of ice on her skin began to fade, but something unexpected happened—her body began to adapt. Cyan-blue wisps of light flickered across her skin as the energy settled within her, transforming.
Swayam watched in fascination as Caitlin's light brown hair started to change. Strands turned a brilliant cyan blue, reflecting the transformation taking place inside her. It was clear she had not only absorbed the energy, but her body was learning to adapt to it.
As the process neared completion, Caitlin stirred. Her eyes fluttered open, and the first thing she noticed was the cold in the air. Her subconscious had tapped into the refined energy, causing her powers to surge outward, dropping the temperature in the warehouse drastically.
Suddenly, every trap in the building was frozen solid. The explosives, thermal sensors, and even the mines were all disabled as Caitlin's power surged and froze everything in sight. What had been a deadly warehouse was now a frozen wasteland, covered in frost and ice.
Outside, Joe and Cisco looked at each other in confusion as the sudden drop in temperature hit them. They watched in amazement as frost spread across the ground and walls.
"What the…?" Joe muttered, his breath visible in the cold air.
Cisco's eyes widened. "Is that… Caitlin?"
Before they could process what had happened, Caitlin stepped out of the warehouse's shadows, her movements graceful but uncertain. Her blue-tinted hair shimmered, and her breath came in short, visible puffs.
"Caitlin!" Cisco rushed over to her. "Are you okay? You're not hurt, are you? And what happened just now?"
Joe followed closely, his face a mix of awe and concern. "We were just figuring out how to get you out of there safely, but before we could, you went and froze everything."
Caitlin looked between them, still trying to process what had happened. "I… I don't know. I think I just subconsciously used my powers when I woke up, thinking I was still in danger. Then… this happened."
As they checked on her, Swayam's clone, having expended its energy, disintegrated into nothingness. Back on the battlefield with Snart and Rory, Swayam felt the sudden loss of connection but knew Caitlin was safe.
Regaining his composure, Cisco pulled out his phone. "We need to call Sam, Barry, and Dr. Wells. Let them know Caitlin's safe, and we're bringing her back to S.T.A.R. Labs."
With Caitlin safely rescued, Cisco, Joe, and Caitlin headed back to S.T.A.R. Labs.
