Kapitel 51: Wounded Kittens

Leila frowned as she thought about what Rosemary said to her. Their history explained why she was enthusiastic about welcoming her to the Campbell house instead of rejecting her as expected from a rich home welcoming a village girl. 

Well, she did expect a snooty butler…

She wondered if the second Campbell brother, the politician, was involved in the entire mess. Unfortunately, she did not have a good clue about their personalities and interests since the initial investigation indicated they were not close. 

She wondered if there was a possibility that the estrangement between them was related to the incident back then. After talking to Amanda, she assumed it was about the older Campbells, the grandparents, dying. 

Now, she was more inclined to think that something strange occurred during her childhood, causing them to have a less amicable relationship. After their parents died, they probably did not have any reason to keep close.
