The dinner was unlike any other. Hugo had planned to eat with the bodyguards, but worried about Zoren, he joined the couple for dinner. How he wished he hadn't, because now he was trapped in this silence.
"I'm done," Penny announced as she wiped the corners of her mouth. "I'll go up first."
Zoren glanced at her, watching her leave before he could say anything. His lips curved downward as he turned to Hugo. The moment their eyes met, Hugo's face twitched. At that moment, Zoren looked like a helpless puppy, eyes pleading for help.
"Haha…" Hugo reached out to Zoren and patted his shoulder. "It's gonna be okay, brother."
"She never leaves me alone, even after her meal."
Hugo forced a smile, though it only revealed the complicated feelings in his heart. "My mom is like that with my dad too, but hey, they're still together."
"..." Another deep sigh escaped Zoren as he leaned his arms against the edge of the table.
