Kapitel 31: Leslie

Rafael started considering the idea. After some thought, he realized he could only benefit from this. As for her doing a background check on him, Rafael didn't find it offensive.

After he knew her background, he already knew someone would do a background check.

That was like the minimum protocol for people at her status.

"Let's go then. By the way, Aurora, do you know any Templar or witches? I am curious."

Aurora rolled her eyes. "Yesterday, you almost got killed, but now you want to look for people with power? Don't tell me you want to fight them?"

"Well... About that, can't I?" Rafael said in an awkward tone, knowing that what he was asking was not something easily granted.

But Aurora had a different concern. Who in their right mind would do this? If it was only to see how they use their abilities, she would understand, but a normal person wanting to fight those with power was just insane.

In Rafael's case, it was like someone who almost died in a car accident proceeding to drive the same car the next day.

Little did Aurora know what she thought actually happened.

Rafael had literally ridden the same bus where he almost got mugged. Despite her network, Aurora didn't know about this event.

"I will see what I can do. For now, let's eat first," Aurora said with a sigh. She had seen the chef bringing the food out.

This was the habit she learned as the king's personal chef.

All food, from start to finish, must only be touched by her hand to ensure no foul play was involved. This was done by her own initiative.

Rafael started digging into the meal. Every bite was tasty, making him want to eat more. The meat melted in his mouth, while the vegetables were fresh and delicious.

At first, he wanted to take back a lot of food, but realizing his sister would ask questions about it, he decided to just bring home a few meals that wouldn't make his sister suspicious.

"Are you shy? I thought you would order more," Aurora asked with a confused gaze.

"I do want more, but it will make my sister suspicious."

Aurora narrowed her eyes. "You mean your sister doesn't know about this?"

"If you mean about you, then she doesn't know."

Her shoulders slumped down, but Aurora understood why Rafael did this. He didn't want his sister to worry.

Those who didn't have any ulterior motive usually would think twice about befriending her, as it meant a lot of things.

Just like what her father often said, she couldn't escape her status. "What about the assassination?"

"Of course not. I would never tell her that. She has enough worries in her life without knowing about this."

"I see... but don't you think this is kind of unfair to her? Also, if she hears this from someone else, she will surely feel angry and hurt."

Rafael sighed. "What do you suggest then? If I tell her this, she will panic and quickly take dramatic measures.

For example, selling our house and moving to another city. Since you already know my background, you should know we just barely reached stability in our life.

Moving to a new place will only bring us a ton of problems."

"I see... I am sorry."

Rafael raised his eyebrow at her remark. He understood Aurora still felt guilty about the whole matter despite how many times he had said it wasn't her fault.

This time, he decided to ignore it.

"Well, let's go. Based on what your father said, we barely have an hour before the lockdown is lifted.

I don't want to become the new trending topic of the day," Rafael said with a chuckle.

"I could already imagine the headline. That would be a PR nightmare for my manager," Aurora said with a smirk.

Both of them then looked at each other before exploding in laughter.

Despite their age difference, Aurora felt like Rafael was her age. But the world wouldn't care. The news would certainly become an international topic with her status.

The irony was that Rafael felt this would be a bigger problem than having someone hire a Templar to kill him.

They quickly left the area, following the same path. In the basement, a black SUV was already parked. Beside it, the same bodyguard that Rafael had met before was standing on alert.

She quickly bowed upon seeing Aurora. "Greetings, Miss. Are you done?"

"Yes, can you bring me and my friend to your office?"

The woman froze for a moment, confused by Aurora's request, but as a professional, she knew better than to dip her nose into Aurora's personal matters.

The car engine ignited, then quickly left the mall, heading toward their destination.

As the path was already prepared, Aurora had arranged with some people outside to ensure no one saw their car leave the mall.

"What do you think about Leslie? Can you beat her?" Aurora asked while pointing to the driver's seat.

"Is she strong?"

"Well, I have never met anyone who could beat her so far," Aurora praised.

Hearing her employer's remark, Leslie interjected, "I am flattered by your praise, Miss, but I am not that strong. I heard Mr.

Rafael here beat a Templar. I doubt I could do the same." She glanced at Rafael from the rearview mirror.

"Leslie, is it? I will just call you by your name if you are alright with it."

Leslie nodded, then Rafael continued, "So Leslie, is it part of your job to lie to your Miss?"

"I am sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by this, Sir Rafael."

"What you said before, saying you are not sure you could survive a fight against a Templar, that is a lie. You are looking down on me. Don't think I will not realize this."

Aurora frowned. "Leslie, is that right?"

"I am sorry, Miss. It's not that I look down on Sir Rafael; I just think the news is often exaggerated."
