Kapitel 103: Hand me my tablet

Max looked at Valerie and then shut his eyes. There was no use hiding it now. They were almost at the company.

"Hold on." He said, taking out his phone to dial a number.

Valerie was silent, a bit restless and confused. Why wasn't he being clear with her? Was he hiding something?

"Hey, are you in the office?" He asked and glanced down at Valerie. "Have you seen Valerie's bracelet by chance?"

'Who is he talking to?' Valerie wondered.

"It's a bracelet with rubies." Max explained and Mariam who was on the line nodded.

"Yeah, I think I saw it yesterday, so I put it away safely." She said.

"Good. We're almost at the company. Bring it down." Max said.

"Wait, now?" Mariam frantically asked. "I'm really busy at the moment."

"Take a break. Don't you want to see how your sister-in-law is doing?" He asked and cut the call before she could refute any more.

Mariam looked at her phone and sighed.
