Due to his intention of raising a miniature version of Amon and possibly turning him into a defector for future amusement, Lynn was in no hurry to find Amon's true body.
Lynn shook the cage in his hand vigorously, causing the mini-Amon inside to roll around helplessly, eventually lying in one corner like a defeated person. As a clone of a King of Angels, the mini-Amon naturally wouldn't be this embarrassed just from some rolling. However, the cage Lynn used was specially designed to seal the power of any creature inside it and even weaken their physical strength, reducing them to the state of an ordinary person.
It's completely normal for an ordinary person to feel dizzy after such shaking.
Lynn continued to tease Amon like a hamster for a while until the mini-Amon became thoroughly exhausted, curled up in a corner, and looked as though he never wanted to move again. Only then did Lynn glance at the subtly expressive Trunsoest and said with a smile, "Your Majesty Trunsoest, if there's nothing else, I shall take my leave. There are still matters at the banquet that require my attention!"
Hearing this, Trunsoest glanced at Lynn and then at the mini-Amon in Lynn's hand with a look of pity. He finally said, "I will keep a close eye on what you are about to do."
"That's for the best," Lynn replied with a smile. He looked in a certain direction in the study, then withdrew his gaze and patted the golden cage. An illusion immediately covered the cage.
After some thought, Lynn produced a piece of cloth from somewhere and covered the cage thoroughly.
Although in theory, the illusion he cast would be difficult for anyone, even those of Sequence 0, to see through unless they specifically tried to, considering the high number of high-Sequence individuals at the banquet, Lynn decided to add a physical safeguard.
Sometimes, purely physical methods are harder to see through.
After completing all this, Lynn left Trunsoest's study with the golden cage in hand.
After he left, the Night Emperor Trunsoest closed the fanfiction he was reading and said softly, "He knows you're here."
"Of course he does," another voice responded as Amon's figure appeared in the corner of the study, this time in his normal size.
"So, are you the true body?" Trunsoest asked, looking at Amon in the corner.
"Any one of me can be the true body," Amon replied with a smile, adjusting his monocle.
"He's interesting," Trunsoest said, withdrawing his gaze. Then he added, "You're also interesting."
"Same to you, Your Majesty. Who gets emotional reading fanfiction? You're much more interesting than me," Amon teased, noticing Trunsoest's sudden stiffening and smiling even more brightly.
Though Lynn could be a pain, Amon had to admit that sometimes his antics brought some amusement.
If not for the natural conflict with Medici, Amon thought he might even become friends with Lynn.
Of course, that's just a thought.
"Hmph!" After a brief moment of stiffness, Trunsoest let out a chuckle devoid of emotion and continued, "Do you think what he said is true?"
"Adam once told me he's special. What we're experiencing might already be past for him," Amon said slowly.
Trunsoest's pupils shrank, and he looked deeply at Amon, saying, "I thought you would warn me against him, given that your relationship doesn't seem... very good."
"No, you're mistaken!" Amon shook his head. Looking towards the door, he smiled and said, "He's not my enemy. He might teach me some lessons and bring me some suffering, but in a certain sense, he's more reliable than you lot."
Trunsoest didn't respond to these words, knowing why Amon said them. It was both a warning and a declaration of his own value and bargaining chips.
Trunsoest needed Lynn as an intermediary to connect with Antigonus and Bethel.
But he also needed Amon, who had a special relationship with Lynn, as a certain link and balance.
'It seems I really need to consider Libert's proposed deal seriously...' Trunsoest muttered to himself.
...
'Amon is truly clever...'
Walking down the corridor of the Trunsoest Empire's palace after leaving the study, Lynn suddenly murmured to himself.
This wasn't because Amon might have guessed his true nature but because Lynn realized that Amon had finally understood something—Lynn's existence was both a threat and a safeguard for Amon.
With Lynn around, Amon might never live a peaceful life, constantly facing persecution and pranks from Lynn and even getting blown up now and then. He also couldn't covet the position of the Lord of Mysteries. But at the same time, if Amon encountered trouble he couldn't handle, as long as it wasn't a situation that crossed Lynn's bottom line, Lynn wouldn't mind lending a hand.
This wasn't just for Sasrir's sake but also because, for Lynn, the fun in tormenting Amon was more valuable than simply eliminating him.
'But then again, there's no rule saying I have to help right away. Waiting until he's half-dead before helping is just as good,' Lynn chuckled. He wouldn't mind helping Amon when he was almost defeated, but he also wouldn't mind kicking him a few more times when he's down.
Lynn would indeed spare Amon's life out of respect for Sasrir, but only just that.
That's the appropriate treatment for a troublesome brat.
With these thoughts, Lynn shook the golden cage vigorously again, satisfied with the sound of the mini-Amon tumbling around inside.
He was beginning to enjoy this little Amon. How fun!
"Little Amon, since I'll be taking care of you for the foreseeable future, how about I give you a separate name? It would make it easier to distinguish you from the other Amons," Lynn suggested, lifting a corner of the cloth to look at the mini-Amon inside the cage with a mischievous grin.
The first step in turning Amon into a defector, of course, began with giving him a new name.
Names can sometimes be unimportant, but other times, they are very significant. A good new name can signify a good start.
The mini-Amon, still dizzy from the shaking, said nothing.
