Kapitel 36: Seraphie is sick

The first light of dawn peeked through the heavy curtains of Ethan's chambers, casting a soft golden light across the room. It was filled by the quiet chirping of birds outside. Ethan slowly opened his eyes feeling the warmth of Kimora's presence beside him.
He found it pleasing to have a beautiful woman beside his bed. Her head rested gently on his chest, her breathing even and calm.
Carefully, so as not to wake her, Ethan began to slide out of bed. But just as he moved, Kimora's arms tightened around him, and she mumbled something in her sleep.
"Not so fast, husband," she whispered groggily, her eyes still closed but a mischievous grin tugging at her lips. "You can't escape that easily."
Ethan chuckled softly, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "You always know how to keep me occupied, don't you?"
Kimora slowly opened one eye, giving him a mock stern look. "It's my job. Someone has to make Dear husband doesn't go running off into danger without thinking."
He smiled warmly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "I promise I won't. Not without you by my side ok."
Satisfied, Kimora finally let him go, her expression softening as she stretched and sat up. "Good. Now go on, I'll join you for breakfast after I freshen up."
"Wait" Kimora stopped him and went in front of him and raised both of her legs to his height and smacking her lips to him "*chuuu*" She took a taste of lips.
"What was that for " Ethan asked surprised by the sudden affection.
"A good luck charm for Dear husband " She replied while leaving the room with a delightful expression.
Ethan dressed and left the room, he couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. Despite the challenges ahead, the love and support of those around him gave him strength.
The dining hall was already filled with activity when Ethan arrived. Seraphina sat at the long table, she was usually calm but there was a faint blush on her cheeks. Chloe was there as well, but she was busy with discussing the day's training with one of the knights. It was typical of her.
But it was Marina who caught Ethan's attention first. The young girl was seated beside Seraphina, her small hands cradling a glass of apple juice. When she saw Ethan enter, her face lit up, and she quickly hopped off her chair, running over to him.
"Big brother!" she exclaimed, wrapping her arms around his waist.
Ethan knelt down to hug her back, feeling the weight of her small body against him. "Good morning, Marina. Did you sleep well?"
She nodded vigorously, her eyes sparkling with joy. "Yes! And I had a dream where we defeated the scary lady together!"
Ethan smiled, ruffling her hair. "That's a good dream. Maybe one day it will come true."
"Oh! I want to know this scary lady " Kimora asked Marina.
Kimora is sitting in the dinning table with a tray filled with butterflies and other food suitable for her.
Ethan said sweatdropping. "You should try human food once in a while. Maybe you will find it tasty."
"I will eat maybe....Only if you feed me Dear husband " Kimora whispered in a sweet tune
"Grrr! " Marina growled in a cute at being ignored.
As they made their way to the table, Seraphina looked up from her book, her lavender eyes meeting Ethan's. There was a flicker of something in her gaze—curiosity mixed with a hint of knowing.
"Ethan," she began cautiously, her voice as calm as ever but with an underlying edge, "I couldn't help but notice... You seem different this morning. Did something happen last night?"
Her words were innocuous enough, but Ethan caught the slight emphasis she placed on "last night." Seraphina was far more perceptive than she let on, and Ethan knew she had likely sensed the shift in his relationship with Lucia.
Ethan hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to reveal. But before he could respond, Seraphina leaned in slightly, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Did it... happen?"
Ethan's eyes widened in surprise at her directness, but he quickly masked it with a casual smile. "Let's just say things are... different now."
Seraphina's cheeks flushed a deeper shade of pink, and she looked away, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of her book. "I see," she murmured, her tone soft and thoughtful. "It's good that you're closer now. You deserve to be happy, Ethan."
Ethan reached out to gently touch her hand, grateful for her understanding. "Thank you, Seraphina. It means a lot to hear that from you."
As they settled in for breakfast, Ethan noticed that Seraphina seemed more distracted than usual. She kept stealing glances at him, her expression a mix of shyness and something else—something that made Ethan's heart skip a beat.
She reached for an apple, but she hesitated a bit as she looked pale.
"Seraphina, are you feeling okay?" Ethan asked gently, concern lacing his voice.
"Serphie seems dull since morning. Is she sick? " Marina asked Ethan
Seraphina looked up, startled by his question. Her eyes widened before she composed herself, offering him a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, Ethan. Just... a bit tired, perhaps."
Leaning in slightly, he let a playful smirk tug at the corner of his lips. "You know, Seraphina," he said, his voice dropping low, "I have a way of making people feel better."
Without warning, his hand slid under the table, he groped her thigh feeling it, his fingers tracing a light path upward. It was a move he had made countless times before, one that usually left Seraphina flustered and giggling which made her quite distracted.
This time, however, Seraphina's reaction was different. She stiffened at his touch. She quickly reached under the table, grasping his wrist and pulling his hand away. "E-Ethan," she stammered, her voice uncharacteristically shaky. "Not now, please..."
Ethan stopped. He withdrew as he realized he might have pushed too far this time. "I'm sorry, Serphie," he said softly, his teasing demeanor replaced with genuine concern. "I want to distract you..."
Seraphina shook her head, managing a weak smile as she looked down at her lap. "It's okay, My lord." she murmured. "I'm just... not feeling like myself today. But I'll be fine, really."
But Ethan wasn't entirely convinced. He'd known Seraphina long enough to recognize when something was off. He noticed the way she occasionally pressed a hand to her abdomen with a wince.
"Are you sure?" Ethan pressed, his tone softer. "You can tell me if something's bothering you."
For a moment, Seraphina hesitated, her gaze meeting him.
Before he could say anything else, Seraphina stood up, excusing herself from the table. "I think I'll go rest for a while," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Thank you for worrying about me, Ethan. But I'll be alright."
Ethan watched as she left the dining hall, her usual grace slightly changed with unease in her steps.
"Seraphina... do you think...?" His voice trailed off as he realized the signs. Unable to eat food, mood swings, and nausea.
"It was quite possible. I failed as a woman " Kimora said being depressed with even bugs around her sad.
"Kimora don't be feel bad. You don't have to compete with Seraphina " Ethan answered
Marina tugged on his sleeve again, her wide eyes searching his face for reassurance. "Is Serphie really okay?" she asked, her voice soft and trembling with concern.
Ethan looked down at her, forcing a smile to ease her worry. "She'll be fine, Marina. Seraphina is strong, and sometimes she just needs a little rest."
Marina nodded slowly, but the worry didn't leave her eyes. She leaned against Ethan, clearly seeking comfort, and he wrapped an arm around her, gently pulling her close.
"Why don't we let Seraphina rest for a bit," Ethan suggested, trying to sound as cheerful as possible. "How about we go outside for a walk after breakfast? The fresh air will do us both some good."
Marina looked up at him, her expression brightening a little at the idea. "Okay, big brother. That sounds nice."
The toughest thing is to force a smile and ensure everything is okay. Ethan didn't want Seraphina to force a smile and appear strong in front of him while she was struggling.
"That girl was indeed strong and resilient. I love my Serphie. Come on Kimora " Ethan murmured as he went outside.
"I feel like a third wheel. Somehow I felt like my man is being stolen " She murmured.
Ethan might have gripped and harassed Seraphina, but he did because he found her reactions adorable and sometimes to distract her.
