Kapitel 177: 177 - From the ashes

The bathroom was silent, save from the noise of the droplets dripping from the faucet and creating ripples on the surface of the water filling the bathtub. In that stillness, the light overhead felt glaring, even though it was not that strong.

The seconds passed, then it became a minute. Nonetheless, nothing changed. But as time continued to move, the rippling water welcomed a disturbance. Bubbles started coming to the surface in rapid succession. The water became turbulent, before a head of blond hair suddenly surfaced, the owner inhaling deeply, breathing as if her life depended on it.

"Hu… Hu… Hu…"

Cynthia struggled to regain her breath through those hurried gasps as she leaned back, most of her naked form hidden in the water. Her eyes felt more alive than before, but only because of the adrenaline from toeing the line between the world of the living and the world of the dead.

Her wet hair clung onto her skin as she tried to calm down.
