I'm back from my rest.
From now on, no more chapters on the weekends.
Have a good day.
————————————————————
Mauville City was one of the larger city in the Hoenn Region, and can even be said to be the center of the whole region because of both their geographical location and their power as a city.
There was even a Game Corner and a very famous food court here, so it was natural that Ash and his party will have a good day here.
Especially the Mauville Food Court, also known as the Battle Food Court. There are many special snacks there, including special sandwiches, Magnemite grills, Mauville assorted noodles and other delicacies. It was simply a paradise for May.
In this way, Ash and his team moved separately again.
May wanted to go on her first date with Ash but he needed to do something else urgently, so she went to the food court alone to check it out for a later time when she and Ash could go together.
Brock, like always, was responsible for purchasing supplies for their small group.
Max, who always liked to follow Ash around, went to the Game Corner alone this time because Ash didn't want Max to interfere.
After the Gym Battle against Gym Leader Wattson, he went to the Pokémon Center to recover his Pokémon's health. He teleported both his Marshtomp and Lairon to train some more under their senior since both had completed their first evolution.
After Marshtomp completed his evolution, he started to be a little taciturn, but it is very common for Pokémon's personality to change after they evolve for the first time. As long as the compatibility and Bond Value continue to increase, Ash wasn't too worried about such small problems.
He ordered his Slowking to arrange the training program he made for Marshtomp to learn the Ice-type attack Blizzard. This attack is very perfect for Marshtomp and the future Swamppert, as their only weakness is the Grass-type.
Therefore, learning Blizzard can greatly expand its attack surface against them and also against many others. It should be very easy for Water-type Pokémon to learn Ice-type skills, however, Blizzard is one of the strongest Ice-type attacks so it can take some time.
Lairon was also going to train with his Tyranitar and Rhyperior, also along with his Phanpy, as he will start to learn how to use its extraordinary heavy metal body for both offense and defense.
Immediately afterwards, Ahs also teleported his Flygon and Absol back to the Lab for the first time.
Absol has the potential to become an excellent swordsman, so Ash lets him receive training from Scizor with Grovyle to cut some waterfalls created by his Suicune.
Ash also heard from his Slowking that his Grovyle is now able to slash waterfalls with one single slash, and has also learned a new move, Synthesis. It seems that the training he was experiencing was really tough. Ash was proud to see how his older Pokémon's were helping him train his newer Pokémon's.
So now, in addition to his Pikachu and Ralts, the Pokémon around him also include his Dratini who has completed his next molting, and his baby Torchic.
Ash wanted to bring his Growlithe too but he was too busy with Houndoom and Typhlosion.
After completing all this, Wattsons three Pokémon had also regained their energy after their beating from Ash's Pokémon's. With a hearty laugh, he came to Ash and patted him heavily on the shoulder, "Ash, is your Pokémon exchange completed?"
"Yes, it's done."
"Seeing as you are alone now, are you interested in visiting the place where I usually train? It's an abounded power plant." Wattson invited.
Of course he was interested, this is the place where wanted to come next. This is also the reason he decided not to bring his lovely May and Max with him todays
The abandoned power plant where Watson usually trains is on a small island outside Mauville City. It was once a famous power plant but it unfortunately later blew up, so it had now become the home of many Magnemite, Voltorb, and such Electric-type Pokémon's.
His Magnemite, Voltorb and Magneton, who was still a Magnemite when he first caught it were also be tamed here. Returning to train here, on the one hand, the electrical energy is diffused here, and at the same time, it can also relax the Electric-types, making training more effective with half the effort, litterly.
"Pika pi!"
Pikachu's cheeks flashed with electrical sparks. He really liked the environment here, it was almost the same as the actual power plant Ash had built for his Raikou and Zapdos to reside in.
That's right, Ash had built a small scale power plant just for his Zpados and Raikou to reside in.
Pikachu jumped off Ash's shoulders and took Ralts to play nearby.
Since they were enjoying the area, Ash decided to simply release both his Dratini and Torchic to play.
Ash didn't realize that his Torchic missed him so much. As soon as he came out, he ran to Ash's side and began to rub his face against him. This was slowly increasing their Bond Value.
Judging from how he was now, it seems that he had been missing more because of the intense training Ash's other Fire-type Pokémon's were giving him.
Recently, he was training especially hard with Typhlosion because of a small rivalry between him and Ash's baby Growlithe. It was very hard to find relaxing moment at the Lab. Ash finally rescued him, so he was very grateful for this.
Ash just picked him up in his arm and found that he had indeed much stronger, he could feel the inside muscles were much stronger than the last time he held him. Although the the food at Professor Oak was not as good as what Ash usually exchange from his System, it was definitely excellent compared to the rest of the world.
Coupled with the incredible training from professionals, plenty of food and good nutrition, he had grown much more stronger than when he was first taken in, and he had already caught up with Mays much older and "experienced" Torchic.
But there is still some way to go before we can truly lay a solid foundation for his first evolution.
Ash doesn't want to experience the same thing as he did with his Charizard back then. Charizard had forced himself to evolve and ended up pathetically thin and short for his kind. If it weren't for his System and later the Macho Brace, plus all of his crazy training in Charicific Valley, he wouldn't have become what he had become today.
His current full power had now reached that almost of his Pikachu, with the power rivaling a Legendary Pokémon!
Suddenly, Ash felt something pulling his legs behind him. Ash hugged his Torchic and did not look back, "Pikachu, you need something buddy?"
Huh… that's not right.
Pikachu can jump directly onto his shoulders, and so can Ralts his and Dratini. So what is this?
Ash's body flashed with small blue light and he smiled immediately after it.
He put his Torchic down who then went around behind Ash's leg.
Turning around, Ash saw his Torchic confronting a light green spiky puppy.
"Oh, it's an Electrike!" Wattson noticed Ash's gaze and recognized the green puppy at first sight. After all, since he was an Electric-type Gym Leader, of course he had Electrike's evolution, Menectric, in his main team.
Seeing that Ash has noticed it, the little guy let go of Ash's trouser and gently rubbed against Ash's legs again. Then he was pushed away by Torchic, but he just seemed to not care and ignored Torchic to continue to rub against Ash again.
"Oh, that's great, Ash, it seems that this little one likes you very much, hahaha!" Wattson was truly happy for Ash, but also a little surprised. As an Electric-type Pokémon specialist, he knew what kind of feisty Pokémon Electrike really was.
Electrike are known to be able to generate static electricity through the friction between the air and their body hair, and then use the current to stimulate the muscles of their legs, thereby generating a powerful instantaneous explosive force and being able to run at a speed that cannot be seen with the regular eyes.
This is a Pokémon that prides itself on its very high speed, plus since it is an Electric-type Pokémon, so its compatibility with Ash is simply already very high.
Ash doesn't why why but he has a high connection to Electric-types. He had tried to ask this to his System but it also said that it wasn't aware of they this was the case.
Of course this didn't translate to having many Pokémon's of the Electric-type.
Wattson didn't know that although Ash didn't have many Electric-type Pokémon's, other than his Pikachu, all of the others were all real Legendary Pokémon's!
In terms of understanding and using the advantages of Electric-type Pokémon's, not even Wattson could compare to Ash and all the tactics he can came up with on the spot for them.
It's just that since it was an early Gym Challenge, Asg let his two weaker Pokémon's that were close to evolving battle. He just didn't let his Pikachu or someone like him to bully others.
"Although it's not cautious of people like they are known to be, it's without a doubt a little wild Electrike!" Wattson judged from all of his experience, "In this case, Ash, you can catch it! Hahahaha!"
Ash nodded as this was exactly what he had been thinking, "Then Electrike, do you want to come with me."
"Woof!"
Suddenly, Electrike took a step back, let out a low roar, and electric currents appeared all over his little body.
"It's incredible, it's awful, where did this little genius come from, hahahaha!" Wattson was stunned by the scene in front of him but then laughed it off. Electrike, who was very docile and clingy just now, suddenly became invigorated with fighting spirit.
Ash also felt this, this Electrike's level was high for its age, just like his previous Mudkip-Marshtomp.
"Torchic, I'll leave this to you!" Now there was only his Torchic around him, while Pikachu and his others Pokémon's seem to be exploring the once vast power plant.
"Elek!"
This Electrike looks up to the sky. Howled, and tiny electric snakes are flowing out of its body!
"It's the Charge skill!" Wattson certainly knew this skill as he too sometimes used it; this can increase the power of the Electric-type move it uses next.
Sure enough, Electrike then used his Discharge attack, and its power made both Ash's and Wattson's eyes shine.
"Torchic, let me see the results of your special training! Flame Charge!"
This is the skill that Torchic mainly focused on learning in Professor Oak Laboratory. Both Torchic and its final form of Blaziken are proud of their speed and physical power. This Flame Charge attack will continuously increase the speed and do good damage, which is perfect for it now and also in the near future.
The two humans saw Torchic turn into a decent size ball of fire, his speed suddenly increased by some margins, and he was easily able to avoid Electrike's fast attack.
Then, when he came to Electrike's side, a ball of Ember sprayed over him.
Ash's younger Torchic's combat performance was much better than May's one, who only knew how to run around. Now that Ash has exchanged for his Torchic back, May's Torchic's will definitely be more difficult than ever.
"Go, my Poké Ball!"
The Poké Ball only flashed twice before going out with a ping.
This is the first regular Electric-type Pokémon that Ash has caught besides his Pikachu, and it was also his fourth Electric-type Pokémon!
"What? Big bro, you caught another new Pokémon!" Max saw the Electrike next to Ash playing, and immediately regretted not being able to see it, "I was so focused on playing games and losing that I missed the battle! How could I!"
"May, I will never go with you again!" Max seemed to have made up his mind.
May looked at the cute Electrike rubbing Ash's leg and was a little stunned, "Ash, can you still remember how many Pokémon you have caught so far? I have only caught two Pokémon while you caught so many."
"Besides, this Electrike is so cute, I want one too! Can I please have it, baby?" May hugged Electrike and couldn't put it down and just liked at Ash with her baby doll eyes, which obviously didn't work in the experienced Ash. Thes kinds of fluffy Pokémon's are her favorite ones.
Ash's new Electrike was also very docile compared to most other ones when not battling, but he can quickly change this when he is in a battle. He let May hold him and continued look cute for his masters mate.
Ash smiled at seeing two of the things belonging to him being so so close and said, "May, you are just starting out now on you journey for the first time, so you don't need to catch as many Pokémon as I do. When you become proficient in it and have enough ability to take care of them all, you can try to add more Pokémon to your team. You have to remember that the Pokémon's are our partners, once you make them join you, you will be responsible for their wellbeing." Ash lovingly told his inexperienced girlfriend.
"Yes sir, I understand!" In fact, May was just feeling a little envious and nothing more. She knew her situation well. She couldn't even take care of her two Pokémon by herself and needed Ash's and Brock's help.
Brock looked at Ash talking to May, smiled and nodded, "By the way, Ash, where is our next destination?"
"The next Gym is located in Lavaridge Town, so most definitely there for our next destination. From what I heard from Wattson, the Gym Leader will be using Fire-type Pokémon's." This is also the reason why Ash exchanged his Torchic immediately after beating the Gym. He had already planned to let his Torchic challenge the Lavaridge Gym.
His Growlithe was still in its early stage, so there was no need for her to join him.
"No, Ash, can we go first go to Fallabor Town? I asked Nurse Joy and she said that the closest and next Pokémon Contest will be held at Fallabor Town. Ash, you also want to participate, right?" May asked quickly. She really needed to win a Pokémon Contest!
Hearing these two place names, Max quickly took out the PokéNav and inquired, "Big bro, the distance between Fallabor Town and Lavaridge Town is not far, on the other hand, you need to go through an area very close to the town." Max said excitedly.
Looking at the two points not far apart on the map, Ash nodded and made the final decision, "Then we can go to Fallabor Town first, and then go to Lavaridge Town through there."
After all, he had to make time for his next Pokémon Contest, and the Gyms can't exactly run away from him.
After they left the big city of Mauville City, Ash and the group plunged into the deep forest again.
The most common thing in all of their trips were the vast number of forests, and this time they were lucky enough to encountered a whole watermelon field not long after they left.
The watermelon inside were all ripe and looked to be growing very really well.
"Wow, so many big melons!" May was pleasantly surprised by this.
Of course, there are ordinary fruits like this in the Pokémon world. After all, most of the berries are not tasty to the human tongue and only taste good to certain Pokémon's.
Ash, Misty and then their previous partner Tracy had encountered the seven Grapefruit Islands back in the Orange Islands, and it was also there that Ash was able to catch his long waited Snorlax, who could swim very well. In terms of his strength alone, it was enough to serve as one of Ash's strongest regular Pokémon's.
However, the cultivation of this such a ordinary fruit is actually much more difficult than that of tree fruits, as it requires fruit farmers to spend a lot of effort in cultivating it.
If they randomly eat the watermelons here without asking or looking for anyone, they would most likely be treated as thieves and be beaten ups
Ash would never let that happen again!
A blue light flashed on his eyes, as he quickly wanted to find the owner here, but he found something else interesting thing on the other side of the hillside.
It was a Electrode, but it was disguised as a bigger than normal watermelon. It must be acting as the guard here in this melon field to protect the watermelons here from being stolen.
"Hey, who are you guys?" A pretty girl soon appeared next to Ash and the rest, "Are why are you four here to steal my melons again?"
"No! No!" Ash quickly said back, "We were just passing by, and we also didn't want to pick them to eat. You can't slander great people like us when you don't even know us!"
"Huh.. really?" The young lady looked Ash up and down. His shape was quite unique, with Pikachu and Ralts standing on his shoulders, and an Electrike at his feet.
He was handsome to say the least.
Yes, he is right. Such a handsome man will never do such bad things!
"Haha. My bad. The watermelons here are all carefully grown by me. If you want to eat them, there is no problem other than one..." The young lady said, "As long as you can beat me in a doubles match, you can eat as much as you want!"
Poor Brock couldn't even say anything before he was pulled back by Max and May.
So if he wins the battle, he can eat as much of her melons as he wants, so of course he can't miss such a chance!
The battle began immediately.
"My name is Natasha! These are my two Pokémon's I will be using!" Natasha threw two Poké Balls, "Amd just to let you know, but we have never lost in a doubles match!"
It was very obvious that this girl Natasha was very confident in her power, and the Pokémon she used were indeed good enough. She was young to be using a Grovyle and a Slugma, a combination of Grass and Fire.
"I am Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, and they are the ones I use are my Torchic, and Electrike!" Ash then threw his Torchic's Poké Ball out.
And his Electrike happily ran up and stood with it to please Ash.
Then, Torchic snorted and turned his head aside from Electrike.
"Okay, now the doubles match is about to begin! Are both sides ready?" Brock was in charge of being the referee as he was actually a professionally licensed one. The moment his announcement was made, the eyes of the two Pokémon on Ash's side completely changed to that of a much more serious note.
"Elec..." Electrike lowered his body, and some low growls were coming from his open mouth. The fur all over his body all stood up, and there were now streaks of electricity flowing through it.
Torchic's eyes also became much more sharp, and the temperature of his whole body seemed to be rising at a noticeable speed.
They looked at each other, as they had to put aside their daily banter during this battle. They were now united as one to fight for their beloved Trainer!
"Its so scary. My little Electrike's appearance changed all of a sudden." May couldn't even handle it anymore. Is this really the same docile Electrike she plays with?
Max, however, focused on Torchic, "May, your Torchic is far worse than big bros one, and his one is younger!"
Max has forgotten when was the last time May's Torchic actually trained with the rest.
"Okay, let's start. You can go first since I'm so nice!" Natasha was really confident in her battle prowess and let Ash take the lead in attacking.
"Then I'm happy to oblige!" Ash smiled back softly, "Torchic, Flame Charge! Electrike, Charge!"
Torchic turned into a fireball and was ready to hit Grovyle, while Electrike started to Charge up and then launch a thunderous strike at Slugma.
But Natasha was really experienced in tag team battles and knew what to do, "Grovyle, avoid using Bullet Seed to attack Electrike! Slugma, use Flamethrower on that Electrike!"
Natasha launched a double attack on Electrike in an instant, and the two attacks soon also came towards Electrike.
However, Electrike's speed was even more amazing.
"After avoiding it, Discharge! Ember!"
Ash's quick order made Brock on the side suddenly widen his closed eyes.
Although he had never engaged in doubles battles, he could tell by just looking at Natasha how much more experienced she was at this than anyone he had seen.
When she gave the order, she made it very clear who was going to do what and what the target of the attack was, this ensured a much more smoother response from her Pokémon.
But what about Ash? Commanding two Pokémon at the same time, issuing huge orders looked so simple from his perspective.
It's not really difficult for the much faster Ash to respond back. Discharge's is of course from Electrike, and Ember's is from Torchic. As for who to attack, there was no need for that.
Ash made sure his Pokémon's knew the type chart for when wasn't with them, they could use this to gain the upper hand.
The Electric-type Discharge was not effective against the Grass-type Grovyle, and the Fire-type Ember has no effect against Slugma, who was also a Fire-type Pokémon.
They determined their attack target early on, almost as soon as the battle had begun!
And just with this simple command, Ash's fighting rhythm had become much faster than that of the opposite Natasha.
Electricity rushes and shocked the Slugma, Ember flies up and hit the Grovyle that was jumping into the air.
Natasha couldn't react to such a rapid attack, and Ash's attack combo also hadn't ended yet, "Thunder Fang! Flame Charge!"
The two Pokémon rushed over at the same time, heading towards their intended attack target.
Thunder Fang took a bite at Slugma, and the smoke from the small scale explosion swallowed him up completely.
The blazing fireball hit Grovyle hard, and the two Pokémon flew out from their own small explosion, completely losing their ability to fight anymore!
After the battle, Torchic looked at Electrike beside him, snorted again, and turned back to where Ash was. Electrike quickly caught up with him and arrived at Ash's feet looking for compliments.
